Bjonk.3189
Apologies if this has been discussed before but........I have looked at the healing skills of core classes and have noticed that Guardian's "Shelter" (and Mesmer's "Ether Feast") cannot be directly traited as they are not included within a skill group. For example Guardian's "Litany of Wrath" skill is affected by the meditation trait "Monk's Focus". Is this an oversight as at first glance "Shelter" would seem to be a decent fit as consecration skill?I may be answering my own question here but perhaps it is due to the small number of on block traits that are available. Do many Guardians out there use the on block traits? Thoughts?
otto.5684
If I remember correctly, there are only 3 on block traits that are optional. The heal on aegis in honor is the meta trait for FB in pvp, and has been for years. The trait that gives retaliation on aegis in zeal, I used to use it back when core guardian was a thing. I used to play zeal/radiance/valor. That is of course until the RI nerf where core guardian became obsolete in PvP. Then shattered aegis, zeal GM. That was good before it was nerfed. Now it is 100% useless. However, I do not think there are any “on block” traits that are optional. If I remember correctly they are all aegis and major. And you obviously do not use any of these in PvE.
Bjonk.3189
I have checked and you are correct, there are only three on block traits that would work with Shelter:-Communal Defenses (Valor), Might of the Predator (Valor) and Invigorated Bulwark (Honor).None of them seem good enough to justify Shelter not having a skill group trait. I guess i really want Shelter to be a consecration and i'm not hiding it very well.8o)
RUNICBLACK.7630
This has been brought up before and the problem is the Master of Consecration trait increasing the duration by 2 seconds which would obviously leave it with a 4 second block which is pretty much a non starter, the longest block is 3 seconds to my knowledge. Granted thematically it makes sense but the impact of its execution would be problematic.

As it stands you cant even use shelter since it will get shut down. Unblockable was a mistake and should never have happened. All unblockable added was a counter to a counter, which should never exist.
SoftFootpaws.9134
I think they just didn't want to give full skill sets in Core specialisations to allow Elites to be more attractive. Nearly every type of skill has missing slots in the Core classes, which leads to inefficient builds because there's fewer ways to trait them to be effective. In regards to functionality, Shelter should have "heal from 50% of Unblockable attacks", added to it. Issette.3248
What do you think about that:Shelter is a Consecration. You heal yourself and create a small area with pulsing Aegis for you and you allies. 1 pulse per second, 1s Aegis duration?
Saiyan.1704
I do miss the burn on block before the 1s icd. Rangers and pistol thieves melted themselves.
RUNICBLACK.7630
Again this comes back to the issue of the trait in Virtues trait line Master of Consecrations that reduces the reduces the recharge time by 20% and adds 2 seconds to Consecrations duration thereby giving you duration of 4 seconds. I'm sure that this was planned on becoming a Consecration until they saw that it would run afoul of the trait and looking through most of the skills 2 to 3 second limit seems to be a hard fast red line limit for Block type skills particularly (and that's without adding in the fact that it would also benefit the party). Yes I know it does make prefect sense but until they can come up with a redesign that is worth the time and money I doubt we'll be seeing this change anytime soon.
