Molten Alliance (and maybe also other) gathering tool bug

Recommended Posts

The Molten Alliance gathering tools on the trading post have glyph slots (as they should).

The ones already in your inventory do not, and there is no way to exchange them as far as I can see. Other permanent tools are exchangeable (unbound magic, the lucky dog one also). Considering the list of permanent gathering tools that have been in the game for a while, I am surprised the vendors offer so few exchange options. Or do I only see what I already have? Can't be, I do not have the Lucky Dog one.

Ok, i'm prob the only one who remembers this but. The molten Alliance pick was the very first unlimited gathering tool. But there was a thing with it. you see first gen of these were not acc bound. they were soulbound. This was then later fixed by way of an vendor you could exchange your soulbound pick for an acc bound pick.

Now my best guess is, that those picks that were not changed back then, were internally looked over when they did the change to the new system. because from a skin point of view they're the same. but from a coding point of view. 2 very diff things.

I'm sure they'll find it in the code and fix it. or add another vendor for it. which ever is easier i guess.

There is no "appropriate NPC" right now.I have the same issue here... Soulbound tools, no slots, no way to change that :/

Yeah, there is, and it's been there for years now. It's the Black Lion Weapons Specialist. Just unequip the tools and take it to the NPC. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Weapons_Specialist#Unlimited_gathering_tools

Thank you very much! That helped a lot! It's weird that his menu only shows up if you unequip the tools...

Yeah, it is a bit confusing to go there and not see the option available. I'm glad I could help, though!

molten aliance pick, consortium sickle and chop-it-all axe dont have a glyph slot nor do they have an exchange at the specialistedit :might have something to do with the fact that my tools are soulbound and the glyph is account bound?

Exactly my issue.Unequip your tools and speak to the Black Lion Weapons Specialist. You can exchange your soulbound tools for account wide tools.I did that just about an hour ago.

Which npc did you speak with I tried the Black Lion Weapon Specialist in the salt in lions arch and tried the Black Lion Exchange specialist next to the trade post in lions arch and with them unequipped in my inventory and neither one shows them for me to trade in.

I found him. I had to go to divinity reach. seems the one in lions arch does not have them so you have to go to one of the other main cities

Thank you so much! I had no idea about this! I was wondering why I couldn't add my glyph to my tools. Problem solved! ^_^
