Is there a transmogrification feature in GW2?

What you're looking for is under the Wardobe tab. It's just below your Equipment tab.

I would recommend not switching look too much as you're leveling, since you'll update gear faster than you get Transmutation Charges.

There are quite a few weapon skins available while leveling that don't look too flashy, look at Renown Vendors (the Hearts spread around the maps) when you complete their tasks!

It's called the Wardrobe, after the Hero Panel tab, or Transmutation after the charges.

Each time you equip (or salvage or destroy) an item - but not when you sell it - the skin will be unlocked in your wardrobe permanently across your whole account. You can then use the wardrobe tab to apply it to any item of the same type (meaning you can make a sword look like a different sword but not an axe). Each change costs 1 transmutation charge and you get charges from login rewards, map completion, WvW and PvP reward tracks and a few other places. Or you can buy them from the gem store if you really need to.

Importantly it only changes that one item - if you transmute a sword and then equip a different sword you will see the skin the new one has, not the one you picked from the wardrobe. So it's generally not worth transmuting your gear while you're levelling, because you'll replace it fairly quickly as you get better equipment. But that might not be a problem for you because the majority of gear from drops and story/level rewards is fairly plain - you generally have to go out of your way to find glowing or fantastical skins so you're unlikely to be stuck with one.

(And if it does bother you another option is to buy an outfit and use that to hide your armour, then you just have 1-4 weapons to worry about.)

Don't waste TC on low level gear that you will change in 5-10 levels. If armor design bothering you (this is what i advise my new guildies) Get this from Trading post https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endless_Common_Clothing_Tonic its cheap like 7 silver or so, trade it with one of this guys https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Trader_(Merchant). It goes on top of armor and can by dyed. Will keep you going to the cap, without thinking of Fashion Wars :)

Or if you throw it in the Mystic Forge or if you right-click and "Unlock in Wardrobe" / "Add to Wardrobe" (don't remember the exact wording). Be aware, OP, that if you use that last command, the item becomes "Account Bound, Soulbound on equip" and cannot be sold on the Trading Post nor given / mailed / etc. to other players.
