  1. another idea from the person that said to remove the keep requirement from warclaw because it's impossible to get a keep... Let me guess.. you tried to use the add-on and couldn't get it to work properly.. so the solution is ban it? It's ok to ask for help.. people will help you with setup or whatever.. plenty of discords to help out if stuck. Otherwise, I don't understand why you're so upset about something that has no impact on you. Should probably also ban the wiki page too.. too much information for people is unfair yeah? Oh, need to ban mice with too many buttons.. that's also a huge unfair advantage.
  2. The thing that I find odd about the collection is that certain parts are locked behind the completion of some (not all) story episodes/steps. The only benefit of story content is an emotionally rewarding/engaging experience for the players, why make players ruin the story and have to experience the ending before they're ready? If someone wants the skyscale, they have to finish the final part of the story, completing undermining all the work of the story team, building up over multiple episodes. Tying them together forces people to not care about the story in their journey to get a unique mount, and it turn, care less about the franchise and the characters in it. On one hand, anet builds up the story likes it's a big thing and is also concerned about spoilers.. but then on the other forces everyone to do the ending to start working on the skyscale.

  4. I feel like jumping puzzles are trying to force a genre in to a game engine that wasn't designed for it. It's simply not made for such precise movements with precise camera control and there are no jumping abilities (unless you cheat with mounts). Windows of failure are too large and it's too punishing when you fail. Ping also makes it harder. Jumping puzzles from the initial development of the game acknowledge the framework of the engine and aren't too extreme, I liked those ones.. but then you look at something like the Christmas ones, and even the 'easy' path is pushing things too far. This is not a 3D platformer, this is not mario odyssey. Jumping is a fun and challenging feature in that game. Here, it's frustrating and the game is trying to be something that it's not. Half the time the challenge is not even the puzzle itself, but wrestling with the limited camera and player controls, not being able to see exactly where you are, or how far something really is, or how many pixels of space you actual have on the sliver of a platform you need to land on.
  5. I think that's a good point to bear in mind.. regardless of the purpose of timegates and arguing their validity as a game mechanic.. the result of it is more important. We can certainly say that the their purpose was not to cause this kind of reaction.. so the mechanics should be retooled to produce the intended effect and get the result they wanted. The people have spoken and their feelings are clear, there is no point trying to tell people that their feelings are wrong. The mechanic hasn't produced the desired effect for a majority of people, so let's rework it. Instead of celebrating this final chapter in a long story and soaking up the new map and meta, we're all hyper focused on this issue. Without the timegate, people might notice how incredibly short the story steps actually are, compared to the other story steps, and then also how limited the map meta is. There is very little here outside of the skyscale collection. Even the map feels a bit small, maybe because it's broken in to 3 distinct sections with one starting base, it's like half a dragon stand for size, and a quarter for meta.

  7. Simply hide it like griffon is hidden. And considering this is longer and harder and possibly even equally expensive, it definitely should be. Anet knew full well there were a bunch of timegates that would lock out every single player for days, weeks, months or forever from earning spirit shards in pof maps until they do skyscale. It's either deliberate or incompetent. Why put players in a position where they either feel forced to engage with the content, or abandon the content entirely or just accept they get less value for their play time in pof compared to hot or central tyria. This has a huge effect on metas and farmers. Why bother doing a pof meta now, when you can do a hot meta and get the same amount of stuff plus spirit shards for your xp? *edit: common sense has won and the mastery track is now hidden, allowing spirit shards to be earned.

Ok, so I thought the answer was no, it's being wasted because in game it says 0/0.. but then I found this dev response on reddit that says it's being saved in a hidden xp bar for a player who is soft maxed due to a lack of mps to complete full mastery. So this should also apply in this situation with the release of skyscale for people who had max masteries before, yes?   9. parts of the collection are in areas that aren't accessible all the time, they get blocked off.. such a frustrating design.. there's groups of players standing around in game right now, they don't want to do.. they're trying to get in to an area to get a collection item and they can't.

This is every mobile game I've ever played. The only thing missing is.. Oh! Your dragon is full, pay 50 gems to feed him now? Ok! This type of achievement is setting a terrible precedent for future events. Do this task 12 times but only 3 times per day.. When you say it out loud.. it just seems absurd.. and incredibly obvious where it has come from.
  11. Exactly, it's a mobile game mechanic. Maybe this is the result of the the devs from those projects being brought over to here.
  12. I think anet should come forward and tell us how many more time gates are in this collection and what the minimum number of required daily resets are. This is not a fun thing to explore and discover. I guess war eternal was referring to the never ending time gates.
  13. That can't make any sense. Time gated content literally BLOCKS players from rushing. Nothing stops you from playing leisurely .. except your own perception that time gated makes you HAVE to play. you don't. That's a player problem. Because of the timegate, I am forced to rush and start working on it now, usually I do pve stuff on the weekends, and that was my plan, because I have more time and for my timezone I can play at a different time to during the week so there's more people to play with. During the week, many metas fail during my normal timezone and I like to do wvw with the limited time I have. All the time that I can put in on the weekend means nothing because the timegate will stop me from progressing when I have the most time to work on it. Why do I need to rush it? 1. Because this new locked mastery now blocks all xp and shard gain on pof maps, I'm now losing resources if I don't do it. Hiding the mastery would fix the problem and allow me to play at my own pace. 2. Because the time when I could commit to working on it, I will be blocked and unable to progress, stretching it out to multiple weeks to unlock. We already know it's going to be more than 5 daily resets (saying days is misleading) because of timegates within timegates.. who knows how many more there are in the steps no one has seen yet?
  14. You can dye the borrowed ones. Set the dye for your locked skyscale and it will apply to the borrowed one as well.

The mastery track should be hidden (like griffon), because now everyone who had max pof masteries is getting no xp or spirit shards until they do skyscale.. so that's multiple daily resets worth of days that people are forced to engage in the content to get back to where they were before. If you want to talk about fun, it's incredibly not fun having to do the story, see all those bonus xp tomes and then do 30+ events to unlock vendors as part of skyscale collection and be getting less than you'd normally get. And while all this is happening, any other metas, like istan, you're getting no xp for days as well. That's crazy. Please just hide the mastery track until it's unlocked. This has a knock on effect to every pof map and meta.
  16. but that's a purely cosmetic thing, you can get the functionally same item without the 2000 wvw ranks. Triumphant Hero's armor. A long grind for a cosmetic is not the same as what's happening here.

Skyscale is not optional, if you want to earn xp and spirit shards in pof maps you are now forced to grind this out and not only in participate in 30+ events for 0xp to unlock vendors for collection items and go through the story (skipping and spoiling whatever you haven't done yet) and accept multiple large xp bonuses as 0, but also wait multiple days before you can go back to playing the game how you want to play, doing pof metas, getting xp and spirit shards... alternatively you can go back to hot or central tyria and still get xp and shards and not engage in the new content at all, to avoid being punished... or just ignore it and never get xp and shards in pof again.
  18. The day before the update, anyone with maxed masteries could earn xp and gain spirit shards from the excess xp. Now, you get nothing, because there's a locked skyscale mastery blocking it and it won't work again until it's unlocked. Doing the story gives large chunks of xp that is wasted as 0 until this new mastery is unlocked. Every person with maxed pof mastery is getting 0 xp now. Doing any event or any meta in pof now gives 0. It's poor design, with no reason or legitimacy for it. Simply hide the mastery until you can actually unlock it so your xp isn't being wasted. Problem solved. Simple. Arguments calling the lost items worthless or it's only 5 days of nothing.. it's not an excuse for a poor design that doesn't make any sense, and has no logic or reason behind it. I mean, if you can think of a valid reason why it should be this way instead of just being fixed, please explain. To be clear, my issue is not with a timegated mount, but with the knock on effect of the mastery not being hidden, forcing multiple days for those who can do it daily, and much longer for those that can't, of no xp in pof.

If anet cared about spoilers, then they wouldn't force people to skip ahead and immediately do the chapter just so they can start earning spirit shards again, maxed mastery doesn't work now with the skyscale added to the list. I didn't see the wiki, but it's already been spoiled because I have no choice but to jump ahead and rush through it so I can get spirit shards again. There are lots of new players, and you had all these promotions for returning players to catch up, not everyone has gone through the story, why force them to spoil the ending for either a mount or to get their spirit shards again?
  20. I don't care if it's time gated or takes days or weeks to unlock. The problem is I'm now blocked from earning xp or spirit shards in pof maps. This is absurd and incredibly bad design. Why block everyone for a set timegated amount of time. I'm now forced to either play the content and the story above all else, even if I'm not up to that part of the story yet, just to stop being punished and losing all my xp and shards from my usual pof game play. Really thoughtless design and makes it really hard to enjoy the content. Turns the whole thing in to a chore with a sense of urgency and loss, instead of being able to truly enjoy and appreciate the work they've done on this story content. Way to burn all the players who have maxed their pof mastery and try to earn spirit shards.
  21. Shutting down the entire section of community who have max masteries from gaining xp and spirit shards for multiple days is ridiculous and unnecessary. I don't care if the mount is time gated, but if it's going to mess up my entire play experience, forcing me to do it asap above everything else, it bothers me a lot. It should just be hidden until you can actually unlock it. Forcing people to not get any xp for days makes no sense and is a poor design that doesn't consider the players at all. Not to mention anyone who isn't up to date in the story, forget all that, they'll have to spoil it just so they can try and return the game to the way it was before this update dropped on them where they could earn xp and spirit shards. I'd like to play the game and story when I'm ready, I don't want to be forced to play it anet's way. I'm effectively being punished with lost xp and shards until I finish the latest chapter. Forced participation. I don't want the story ending yet, I want to complete other parts of the story first.
