  1. I agree, but as I said "estimate", not fact. :)
  2. Interesting. If I was doing it I would have set the parameters of the experiment at assuming fall speed in game = to average terminal velocity of a skydiver as it's the same speed mid fall as it is at the start of the fall. "In stable, belly-to-earth position, terminal velocity is about 200 km/h (120 mph). Stable freefall head down position has a terminal speed of 240–290 km/h (around 150–180 mph). Further minimization of drag by streamlining the body allows for speeds in the vicinity of 480 km/h (300 mph)." -Skydiver on Wiki Time character free fall from jump height to earth (splat, not open glider). Then see if Griffon does it faster and by how much, then calculate speed of Griffon based on the percentage difference between character and Griffon dive. (Edit: this would be to get an estimate of irl equivalence.) P.s. If you try these parameters for a second experiment and the result speed calculation is about the same I'd be interested to know.
  3. Not for me. If "Content Guide" means markers and indicators pointing at certain kind of content, then yea, doesn't work for me either. When you use F11 and enter the UI screen, and there are those 3 options to choose what you want to see...which choice do you use for the 3 options? "Disable Personal Story" per https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Graphical_user_interface#Content_guide That is your problem right there, you don't "Disable Personal Story", what you want to do is turn the Content Guide to "Off". No you can't, I have the same 'bug'. You turn it off (both in settings and hero panel) but when you load into another map or reload that character from the char select screen it just pops back up. It's like it doesn't remember you changing the setting or clicking the quit episode button. We should be able to turn it off completely until we manually turn it back on again. Didn't used to have this issue so something has broken. See above, and you need to Quit the Chapter that you are on, but that does not nor has it ever taken it from your UI as far as I know(I have several Characters with different LW steps showing in the UI, they don't/won't go away and never have, unless I do them or I quit the Episode entirely), but I haven't checked lately because it doesn't bother me, I'm not looking at the top right corner of my screen that often(I'm able to just ignore that portion of the screen).Read what I said please. Already explained I already turned content guide off as well as quit the episode and it just pops up anyway.(TBH I'm just going to report it in-game, it's pretty clearly a bug imo.)
  4. What about opening up the https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hall_of_Monuments_Portal_Stone to all and letting us decorate it like we decorate guildhalls? There's a lot of empty space to work with, the only difference is for those who linked their GW1 accounts they would have the npcs and HoM pets in there too. You could even implement an invite system like home instances for party members just those who don't have their own GW1 linked HoM can't tame your HoM reward pets or buy things from Kimmes in there.Just an alternative suggestion as I have seen some people's home instances and they're already far too crowded with Hylek and Nodes.

  6. Copying my response into this thread as it's relevant. I personally would accept a lowering to 200 from 250 but lower than that is taking the biscuit. It's only really an achievement if it took effort.Gathering a stack is a pain but lowering the mat requirement too significantly would just be a slap in the face of everyone who already did it the "hard" (long) way. If you aint got time to mine dry each map several times over with multi characters in a single day or only have 1 level 80 you got to remember you can't fail the collection for taking X days longer to do it than somebody else. You can take your time. Get your mats for the day then do something else until map resets. If I can do it others can too. The only person you are racing against is yourself. Taking longer isn't the same as being too difficult because you know you're guaranteed to get it done eventually if you just stick at it.

  8. This. Personally I liked that I had something to do for a week after I breezed through the last chapter, even the farming a bit dull after mining and filling hearts on the same map several times over but it was fun to strategise how I was going to farm it the quickest so I could farm the mats while I was waiting for the 4 day feeding to roll around again (did it before the 28th) not add another 4 days to the whole collection by only farming once I got to the saddle collection. But tbh now I have Skyscale I miss not having it. Having something to work towards was more fun than actually having got it. If I'm not helping others to get theirs I basically log out and wait for the next content release as I have no interest in crafting the new legendary trinket.
  9. Probably because Skyscale doesn't have other skins available yet. Not %100 sure it's skin related but it did stop happening to me so much when I used skins.
  10. This bug doesn't happen to me a lot personally because I have skins on my mounts but whenever friends and fam stay over and borrow my computer for their accounts I see it happen almost all the time, not sure why this hasn't been fixed yet.
  11. I agree this is a good idea, if rangers can stow pet to avoid drawing too much aggro when they don't want to then minion masters should be able to do the same. It would be such a small change it wouldn't break anything in game, just add slightly to convenience. But personally I'm in favor of a stow button like the pet rather than hold down the utility still keys as some people can be a little absent minded and hold keys too long by mistake.
  12. mine wasnt a "wah, I'm so jealous" post either, although alot of folks thought so. i was just stating my opinion. some thought i didnt want to put in the work to get it, not knowing I have "put in the work" to craft the nine leg weps i have either. and apparently, im not the only one who thinks it annoying. but w/e. It's a fair shout, I have skyscale already and even I think it's irritating, like when you get players that deliberately "stand in you" as if there's not enough space to go around.Another reason I turn character limit to lowest tbh.
  13. I'm all for this but there would also have to be something similar to measure heals/cleanses for the people that want to support and cannot do dmg. Agreeing with this, when trying to balance something you wouldn't want the scales to be tipped too far the other way or it would just make another set of issues.
  14. Because setting up a build for speed detracts from maxing out it's potential for combat and wastes time swapping skills before a fight. Not that the core game is hard at max level but getting decent gear is harder to come by. It's good they can set their build up for pure running and only tap the meta bosses 5 times enough to get rewards and then afk, and when people get mad at them for playing afk wars they can just say my build isnt specced for this sorry. XD Technically true but doesn't that just create another problem? Well it's on what anet wants, afkers or help them with a source to make it in time. Even then people will still afk in this game. They way they see it is, why should I waste time regarding then event when I can drop a 20 second rotation then watch YouTube videos while everyone else finishes the meta and still get the same rewards. It all falls down to anet making this game to casual. That's a fair opinion, and on that sidetrack I believe I just found the thread for you: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/78105/why-should-we-do-events-when-players-just-afk-leech-off-of-us#latest

  16. I can see why, some have had a decent civil input on this and that's great, we don't have to agree to discuss. The patronising cattle-plop from others however just because they dislike the idea is somewhat disappointing from a community that is usually known for being one of the less toxic in gaming. Especially the ones who seem to have either not read the full original post or seem to misconstrue my words as though I somehow believe freebies should fall into people's laps for no reason. Ultimately it's just a suggestion. Not sure why some people get so bent out of shape about it.
  17. 4 /70 = plenty Depends what class you play, the majority of medium armors are skewed more like 70/4 not the other way around, = is an average across all skins.
  18. There are plenty of practical looking skins tbh it's more than you get in other games and on some classes it's pretty close to a 50/50 ratio, but we do get new skins and outfits at a slow pace so I think you'd get more success just asking for more skins in general tbh, no doubt with more options you'll find something you actually like or at least don't hate.
  19. Honestly not a bad idea either. I'm not in favor of just throwing tons of free stuff at ppl but just to make it a tiny bit more fair would be a boon to the in game community as a whole. Another viable option would be rent a mount like as was discussed regarding wvw, maybe a couple of silver for an hour of having a mount just so the ftp players could get round to things like the daily events quicker but still limits access to things like mounts for the majority of game play since it's not like you can get a lot of gold in core maps anyway.

  21. When I tell people I saved up by quitting smoking that's different, it's not healthy to skip meals. Also not taking into account how unhelpful it is to people already at the end of their budget. If that was your situation I'd expect you to have more empathy not go "I'm alright Jack I got mine and you can go whistle". sis... if u feel sorry for them, you'd tell them (ftp) to get the 2 expacs... cuz they are missing out on 80% of the fun.. playing the core game alone = bored within 1-2 years. You seriously think I haven't suggested that already only to be told how broke they are? Also I'm not your sis.

  24. Yes to 150. (Read as yes to 200.) It was great it felt like a challenge and a real achievement so it shouldn't be too easy to get it, but if you start with the mats at zero or no higher than double digits going around the same map for more than the 5th time to farm on a single character across all required maps it is just not fun anymore.
  25. The green bar could do with lasting a bit longer just to give it potential distance comparable to Griffon since on the up you can expend it too quickly by mistake and end up touching ground way sooner than you would have on a Griff when jumping off the same cliff (I checked). But absolute free flight would be game breaking and OP not least in that it would mean even less challenge for mapping achievements and make travel extremely dull after the initial novelty wears off.
