    Bro what? GW2 on release was a pvp focused game. In first two years of the game pve and dungeons were a side activity at best. PvP was the central focus. Skins, Rewards, Rank, Tourneys, ESL plans, huge budget allocations. Slower more tactical play meant to capitalize on the moba market and the pvp mmo market. The original vision of Guild Wars 2 PvP was to absorb the ESL market for Mobas and MMOs in one game.

    They failed and lost sponsors due to a myriad of reason, mostly bad balance choices, cheating communities, and a refusal to take in player feedback. Also TERRIBLE MARKETING. I cant tell you how badly they handled this. GW2 was NEVER advertised properly. This lead to a huge player withdrawal loss of sponsors, and a force out from ESL when gw2 lost their endorsement. Further ruining the game mode they removed 5 man ques which prevented players from choosing 100 percent of their teammates making a ranked competitive mode a largely RNG Based experience with no agency over the results, with the original Gliko rating system (which btw came much later after release) kept in place to score you on an individual basis even though its a team based game. The rating system was designed to provide rank to static teams that play together over a period of time. Which is the only scenario where a Gliko rating system (like that of chess) would even make sense in a game mode designed for teams. It was never supposed to rank an individual it was for team ranks.

    When they removed 5 man ques they also destroyed the need for spvp focused guilds (part of their shift in priorities over to pve) leaving original pvp focus guilds and hot join spvp guilds [Shout Out to Champion Slayer the OG hot join spvp guild] (which used to provide the essential intro and tutorials for pvp) to die off because out of the 200 to 350 people in each guild instead of queing up as two 5 man teams (10 total guild members) practicing together they were left with a duo que system which meant spvp guilds no longer could regularly que together.

    Further they reduced the time it took to achieve rank in pvp significantly (at the time people with shark rank or higher) were immediately rewarded with dragon rank as retro active rank points applied to their accounts, PvE skins which originally were not allowed in PvP lobbies (pvp skins only when we had our own mystic forge) were now allowed in. 

    Over time after their initial ambitions were abandoned because of the devs lack of protecting the integrity of the game (something they continue to do) ruined it for everyone. They gave up and went on to PvE.

    TLDR:

    I could go on and on how the potential of this game to be the greatest pvp experience ever was completely botched. The idea that this game was never meant to have PvP in it is one of the most untrue things ever said on the forums, and the tragedy of the waste is something I think many original players still hold onto. Wanting the original vision of this game to return.  It wont - they systematically and intentionally broke down our game mode as they switched priorities.

    I have always, always wanted this. I want it to hurl fire balls mixed with lighting lol. Actually cast stuff thats not on the floor. Something always rubbed me wrong about the way ele has everything tied to the floor. Felt cheap and cheasy.

  4. This is a good post. And its true. @Sahne.6950 Posted this a hand full of times in different deliveries. I feel for Ele mains. What a yoyo of an experience. The profession is bi-polar because its confused. Either amazing/OP or uninspiring and watered down. IMO the fundamental flaw with ele has always been that its a caster that fights like a melee class. This basic cross over makes the class often during certain patches feel squishy and very, very easily killed - frustrating for ele mains because in order to give big value they are forced into the mix for a lot of their aura sharing, or people feel its OP and unkillable in an effort to give ele mains a chance to not appear, then immediately die on point. I've never seen ele be in a A Tier non over powered state that is accessible and useable for any prolonged period of time. The class is a seesaw.

    Your posts are starting to sound like that of an actual vet. Welcome brother. We are all over here in the graveyard that was once SPvP only guilds, 5 man ques, hot join servers, unranked rewards that used to reward pvp skins that actually mattered, and the old HOTM that looked like Valhalla.

  6. Hey @Deadmoose.6594 Guess what Man? I agree with you whole heartedly here. Loosing 500-490ish just to take a -29 hit to rating is such a trash things. Totally disheartening and why so many afk. Them not doing this is why people give up once they recognize its not a W. If the rating lost is the same either way best option is to get out as fast as possible GG go next and get into a new match. Great post man 10/10.

    This is basicly my entire concern around the forums. People want to enjoy what they can where they can in whats left of our game mode. Lets stop seeign eachother as the enemies and understand were all enjoyers of a game mode here and want to play our specs. We have more spec versatility than we have had in awhile so its nice to enjoy atm. Nerfing naything into the ground is never good for the mode because it hurts players.

    If it is one or two that is okey, but i faced 20 yesterday, 20 matches that where unwinnable. 

    They need to leave twos and 3s year round team only q and let the solo quers have 5 mans. Merge the rewards. It wont save 5mans from win trading but at least in 2s and 3s we wont get throwers.

    Wrong. On melee ranger they are extremely vulnerable at range. Melee ranger has 3 quick gap closers once they are gone they are on CD and getting burrsted. LB ranger close on them and catch them with bow out instead of GS for example right after a weapon swap, they cant do anything but die lol.

    Want to offer you some support here - TBH Ele is a weird class and I agree with you. It has always felt (3 times total imo) either temporarily overpowered to a ridiculous degree, or useless outside of support as tempest. Tempest Support is really the only historically consistent way to play ele in a meaningful way in ranked. Its power builds rise and fall like winter wheat. Its not in line with the damage of other classes. This is just objectively true. Also - this is a hot take but ele having most aoe attacks instead of ranged attacks has always felt weird to me. It should "throw" more damage then it does instead of needing to be in their enemies face as often as it is. It behaves like a melee class in a lot of ways when its actually a light armor caster. I think thats why things like stone heart get out of hand as often as they do. Ele - has always felt like a class with an identify crisis. I've always wanted it feel more like mage then it does. 

    Interested to hear your thoughts.

    So you think the post talking about a WvW experience in the spvp forums countered me? Just want to make sure I have this right lol...? It countered absolutely nothing my guy. Its a post that is completely irrelevant to the game mode that we are talking about. His 10 minute duel with a thief in wvw is as irrelevant to this forum as how the raid boss encounter with Peter Pve went last Tuesday. 

    Also - That fact that your clinging to this post in the spvp forums, that has nothing to do with spvp says a lot lol. Do you not understand how different stealth works in a closed envoirment like arena vs that of the open plains of wvw? Also... long duels are very common and sought after in wvw lol. Something to be celebrated. 10 minute anything doesnt happen in spvp. GGs tho.

    Sic Em says hello - Swap to ranger to deal with thief, or mez, or class match to thief, or WB, or scrapper, there's more then  enough theif counters in game lol. Run to mid for peels. Thief's can and will be caught. Play one to learn how to counter it. TBH - its easy lol.

    Nah bro - In here trippin on age old mechanics. Listen - for you @Flowki.7194 and @TrollingDemigod.3041 and @Burnfall.9573 Give this up - Stealth has been part of the game since launch. Literally launch. This is not a new mechanic, a patch, or something introduced via expac. Its part of the core of the game. Theres really nothing else to say - Learn to deal with stealth as a mechanic - (slide in a reveal in a utility, use stealth to counter, make a swap pre match to adjust with the area you struggle with) or do anything other than be upset here. If yall are REALLY that upset about a mechanic thats been in the game for as long as the game has existed, then its not the game fault lmao. Learn to address and play the game instead of trying to change the game to your needs/play style. 3 Ways to deal with stealth are as follows: Throw some Condi on that (Burn/Posion are especially helpful) or if they disnege with stealth - Just rotate out of the fight. Re-engage when they reappear. If they have to stealth to leave you won the match up and they are not getting node credit while stealthed.  This is where kiting nad movement are huge in game.  @magickthief.6492 Came in here to support you since you getting rat packed by E-Rage lmao.  These posts translate to: I play 1 class and that 1 class is countered by thief, I dont want to play anything else, and therefore the profession that counters me must be nerfed into the ground until it is no longer a counter to accommodate me not wanting to do anything different. GGs.

    Lol. I am asking for it to be the 1st to 31st of October (covering Halloween and the month of Halloween) and the 1st of December to the fist of January for Christmas and New Years. Your statement is based assuming I want it to be a 3 week run time for an event - I am not suggesting that lmao. That timeline of 3 weeks for an event is also weird. Typically, events, themes, etc take place for the "month of" its a standard timeline. It also allows for less of a crunch and for people to play. As referenced earlier by another player.

    So - Typically I only pvp. I have had this cool experience where like 8-9 people from my guild from vanilla launch have returned to GW2 and so we have like an OG party of like 15 people in our disc (which is awesome nostalgia) and we all wanted to do the Mad King event as group together to get back into playing together again.

    We were all really dismayed to discover that the event starts on the 17th? We all intuitively thought it would be the first and were gonna link up this to get it going. By mid October the hype is almost already over. Its a weird choice.

    the 1st of October and the first of December should 100 percent be the start dates. I find it really weird. This is what actually brought me to this part of the forums - I was looking to make sure googles info on the 17th - 5th of November for some reason? Is actually accurate. Appears it is. Pretty goofy.
