  1. The thing I dislike most about this mode is desert borderland. Other than that, big fights, small fights, roaming are what I enjoy.
  2. Just to add to your point on youtubers, as with any class showing off their mad skills they are only showing you their most successful encounters. They arent going to showcase the fails even if they exceed the triumphs. People see the good bits and call for nerf.
  3. This was an unnecessary change. I dont want to even play thief anymore as the profession is getting penalised every patch.
  4. What was the reasoning behind the change? You could only use it twice anyway with full initiative, so the third timd take a bit longer? Trickery is a must for every build already. Pointless change for the sake of balance.
  5. So the issue is not theif being unplayable, its most other professions being overtuned with lower risk high reward mechanics. Thats the reason for players finding thief unplayable... why is it then surprise to see such topics. Everyhthing needs balancing in context not just blanket changes. Theif has suffered from this approach. Therefore theif is not fine, I dont speak for every theif player or claim to know how many run these 'sustain' builds spoken of, its a fact that thief does less damage than before and the profession requires damage to work even as a +1 from my personal experience playing this profession over the last 8 years. Simple.
  6. Playing both warrior and thief it just depends on the individual. Magebane tether is valuable, hitting channelled skills before they stealth works, stun and punish.
  7. You can do all the textbook thief things (be a distraction and try to decap) which is exactly what you should try to do. The majority of good players will understand that in a situation where they have 3 nodes and your teams is all dead, they just need to sit still. They will have awareness of the map and know the only opponent alive is you - not a huge threat. Best case scenario all 5 chase you and you juke around but aoproaching an occupied node - you're like a moth to a lightbulb.
  8. every profession hard counters Necromancer Profession. Crab Fear, are you being serious? If not, as a long time player, i wouldn't expect you to not know how to deal with them aside from Bad Designs Thief and Mesmer Profession who has all available tools to be immune to counterplay?? Long time player saying thief and mesmer have no counterplay? Necro is not balanced right now with the amount of res potential, pressure and sustain sorry.
  9. Just how it is. Unfortunately some non thief players/forum posters have made a new balance law stating that cuz thief has mobility its burst must suck, cuz thats their opinion so now it's a hard rule anet must follow, makes sense right. At least theres not a lot of other classes with great mobility, burst,high sustained dps,tons of defensive abilities, higher hp, higher armored etc etc lol oh wait....But low and behold thief has high mobility so its burst must suck emiright? Thief requires double the effort in combat compared to professions carried by their builds. Stealth and mobility are not the scapegoat here. Why would a thief not disengage when anything he or she does is meaningless in combat, the most you can hope for is to be a distraction or interrupt a key skill here and there (other professions can do that too). If the general consensus is thief is OP because of stealth and mobility theres a lack on understanding on what thief can and cannot do. There is a lot the thief can not do vs. what other professions can do taking mobility away whats left? Stealth is not invincibility.
  10. Thief doesnt do damage anymore, at all. You can try to plus one, you will be tickling the opponent though. If your are backstab thief you can hope you dont whiff your backstab - is it worth it though when it hits like a wet noodle? Your job is to strategically pick the largest map possible in PVP simply to outrun your opponents to cap/decap rinse and repeat. The cost of initiative is too high to "spam" anything useful so you're best off saving it to traverse the map. Ignore anyone saying spam choking gas, you will drop 2 before your initiative is gone. Pick large maps, outrotate enemy and be pesky. Pick fights wisely cos you arent useful at +1 against decent players.
  11. Mobility doesnt mean much in PVP when you have unkillable opposition sat on nodes. This argument of mobility is so high that thief cant have damage is absured. Stealth doesnt mean unkillable, sneeze hard enough and the thief will be sat on the floor. Alot of L2P issues here.
