  1. while i was sceptical about them delivering i admit most of those hotfixes at least show promise. theres still a TON of issues, but at least some problems were aknowledged. the issue with mechanist is its design allowing almost no room for skill to play any factor when determining its effectiveness. im not trying to attack you personally, but you cant expect to be rewarded the exact same for this much less effort. im also not suggesting anyone should get penalised for playing easier classes, but the idea which the balance team suggested prior to the patch going live by means of leaked conversations that skill should not be a determining factor in how you aproach balance is simply stupid. and this is the sole reason why its unfair for us players to have to deal with consequences of this aproach. hopefully anet realises that this is unhealthy and land in a good spot where you can have fun and be effective on whatever class u enjoy playing while also reward players who wish to engage more.
  2. see thats the point. they had 10 months to plan this out, execute, test and introduce to the game. its insulting that all they have to say at this point is "we didnt communicate well enough what our plan was" when its clear at this point there was no plan or someone dropped the ball real hard. the leaks just prove that this is in fact the case.
  3. So u assume 95% of the playerbase does not actually play the game? kitten. The rest of the post i have difficulty understanding. Also i question anyone needing 7 days to get used to engi rifle fluidity since there is none, u press one button. Well ofc. But their policy to kitten on any kind of feedback is clearly deliberate thats why its their win since its not going to change.
  4. well it seems anet is winning. still no answer regarding the patch being broken, biased, buggy, harmful and insulting, still no design notes that they didnt bother to compile since they announced it like 10 months ago, still no responce to the continued negative backlash around the patch and theyr practices. and the topic is fizzling out. see ya all in 3 months to see what amazing fixes they come up with next time. my bet is mech will get an offhand firebrand, and ele will get deleted cos it still has the audacity to exist in the character creation screen. glhf.
  5. This is going to be a wake up call. Only question is is it going to be anet seeing how this vision of theirs is harmful to the game and how they meybe should verify how their emplyees go about doing their job, or us players realising theres no point in waiting 10 months to be treated to a kitten, buggy, biased mess that clearly had 0 toughts put into most of it.
  6. ye. we waited about 10 months since this omega patch was announce for it to obliterate 80% of the classes to a state of being weak or outright unplayable to then have to wait 3 months for them to go ahead and "fix" it. yeeha
  7. it has been made worse. quick chrono sits at about 22k now, pchrono at 32k right around what qfb sits at. qfb ofc being a support variant of a dps build having to sacrifice dps for group quickness and still outperforming a dedicated glass dps build with vastly more complex rotation to master. this is not taking into account that he can do this with 3 slots open for utility of which has the biggest selection of overtuned skills to choose from. all the while chrono has to sacrifice his heal skill and stunbreak pretty much off coolown as part of his rotation to be able to achieve this dps thus being left with no emergency options if kitten hits the fan. this is what this patch along with at least last few patches puts as now. and anet defends this dude and states they have a vision. i call bs. edit: i dont mind chrono being harder to play, and enjoy the fact u have to take a risk to maximise dps. the issues i have is where tf am i suppose to play if im not part of a guild that is willing to take in a dead weight into the group becouse this joke of a balance team cant even do simple stuff like balance dps based on obvious factors like difficulty/range/utility/survivability? its that simple and yet they managed to fail this over and over.
  8. if someone is saying "fire him cos i dont like the patch" then he shouldn't be allowed to speak his opinion cos hes clearly not mature enough to have one. if someone is however saying "if this person is cousing harm to the company thru hes outright malicious aproach to the job hes supposed to be doing and is getting payed for, you, as a company, should take action" then hes completely right. and anet alone has the capacity to verify if this is the case and act accordingly. the fact that it reflects real bad on the individual is also not the communitys fault. the fact he spoke those things either while talking with players, or internally within the dev circle does not change the fact what has beed said. the leak wasnt hes fault so hes a victim in this case. however this shows how fragmented the whole process is. instead of having official feedback channels (oh wait theyt do have those) you rely on backchannels then this might and will happen. someone allowed this to go on for quite some time, maybe even someone greenlighted it. so SOMEONE is responsible for this situation. and yes, anet, as a company should take action, against anyone who affected their product or its image in a way that might affect revenue. calling theyr customers toxic is the worst way they could approach this however. especially since its clearly at their end that the issue materialised.
  9. My tought on the leak is that it proves why balance is done in such a biased manner. If the dev is refusing to even weapon swap on his fb then ofc hes gonna do lower dps hence the constant buffs to the class. Fb has no viable power build hence condi meta. Rest of the classes are balanced based on benchmarks since he cant be bothered and only assumption is that hes other played classes are mech and necro. Also the dumbest kittening sentence that ive read in my life regarding gameplay especially in an mmo regarding no need for level of class complexity having nothing to do with how effective it should be alone makes up the rest of the stupid anger inducing decisions. Theres ofc a chance that this leak is fake, or we dont get the full contrxt, but oh boy how it all fits to what has been happening with every balance patch since god knows how long. If it however is true and anet cant realise that someone inside is actively being harmful to their product or this actually IS their idea of aproaching balance then theres no hope. Based on the fact that they use the "community being toxic" argument in this damage control post does not bode well. No company ever came out on top attacking their customers.
  10. That was their grand vision cant you see? Its so majestic!
  11. just watched a few vids of new builds in practice. its clear at this point that the "vision" they have of the game is of it rotting in the dirt. that being said i refuse to belive that the "balance team" has autonomy over those changes. someone had to greenlight them. if it was down to the balance team alone someone would get fired at this point, and the patch would get postponed. however if the balance team does have this level of autonomy, that means that someone high in the food chain of anet is part of that team, and that would explain why theres this much unchecked bias in those patches. unless its like the ceo or we you should maybe try to identify hes motives since this is devestating to the game.
  12. the design notes at least for me are going to be deciding my future in gw. im really looking forward to reading them, becouse how i see it right now is that this patch shown one of three issues. either they have no actual clue what they are doing, and are now scrambling to figure it out. they dont give a single kitten about majority of the playerbase, thus completely neglecting most classes or doing some illogical changes to them. or are disconnected from their work to a point where they dont realise how much harm some of those changes couse. for the longest time i would argue none of those were true if someone suggested it. but now i dont know. they dont seem to care to communicate why something like a firebrand still remains beyond broken, and actually passively gets a buff becouse of unique buffs removal. mechanist which is beyond broken actually gets a straight up buff. yet chrono looses 5% crit he was only getting in a best case scenario anyway and doestnt get compensated in any way. weaver gets a joke passive of 5% crit in air which stands against this whole crit rework. not to mention warrior, or soulbeast. are u trying to say "we want chrono to only be played for quickness"? are you trying to say "we want you to only play condi weaver"? well how about clas flexibility? at least have the decency to say this is your intention before you do those changes so i know i can quit instead of wasting time hoping this isnt the case. ive played mesmer almost exclisively, loved chrono for its theme, played mostly dps. hate virtuoso for its boring design, and now im being told play virtuoso or try to fit in as a quickness provider into a meta which has firebrand in it. this is ridiculous. and none of this was comunicated in any way other then were introducing new dps spec for mesmer in eod. i will quit if this is the case. and i know im just one random player. but im kitten well sure im not the only one. if you keep changing class roles, and their theme in this manner u will loose players. especially since, again, firebrand can do all, with little effort. dps, heal, boon support, tank, and for both pvp and pve. if thats the idea of balance then wth are we doing here? sure some will adapt, or change toons. but some will quit. and do think about new players, that after leveling up the class that they chose for its theme realise that they cant find a group or simply are unable to be efficient at how they want to play becouse of all this. still hoping im wrong but its not looking good in all honesty
  13. they took away quickness and alac from chrono wells and shield, for the same reason they took away catalyst air sphere quickness. they want ppl to BUILD for those boons. becouse "balance" fk diversity, fk class flavour, fk players who want to build their character how they please - you either use this one build that were giving u or ur a useless piece of sh*t. but at the same time they didnt touch fb, cos why would they touch the golden child. somehow it can still throw around quickness like its candy. and even guard mains are telling them to fix this class. if u go thru with a change even if its stupid af at least be thorough, and not fk half the playerbase cos ur too afraid to touch the other. if they go thru with this patch im done. im not considering myself an expert at the game, nor do i want to be. but with my couple of friends we were able to have insane amounts of fun even if none of us was interested in being 100% efficient. we cleared a lot of stuff simply becouse we were covering for each other. one example, can be myself taking well of action to simply cover for our fb dropping quickness sometimes. she was too focused trying to keep our other friend alive and this skill actually felt useful even for dps spec. u dont need to play meta to have fun, nor to be able to clear content in the first place. anet themselves forgot where they are coming from. and from what is happening here and on other media it seems that if they dont change their mindset the game will suffer.
  14. why would they post partial information knowing it would spark the reactions it did with no real feedback being generated? the sad part is that those 20 pages of ppl raging IS the feedback becouse those ARE the profession chnges. only hope is they will actually not go live with this.
  15. i wouldnt mind nerfin everything across the board. power creep is a b*. i dont care about banner and spirit unique buffs being removed. i worry however of those classess usefulness now. but thats beside the point. how they decide what should and shouldnt be nerfed is beyond me. it kinda seems that the balance team is made of 3 ppl, maining engi, necro, and guard. those classes are way to good in more ways then just pure synthetic golem dps that less then 3% of playerbase can pull off. its riduculous. they now have most utility, all the boons, all the dps. stupid survivability. and then u get something like a weaver, who has negative range, who gets deleted by a freaking skritt throwing a bottle, who gets a fkn 5% crit in air and 500 aoe barier every 5 seconds xD. this is game changing!!! NOT! this is a FKN JOKE. if this goes live i swear me and my friends are gonna take a break until it gets resolved. and whats with the ele staff changes? u remember it exists but why bother touching it if its still dead. just split stats petwen pvp/wvw vs pve and make things be useful. u said u were gonna fix utility skills, u said u were gonna fix unused weapons. u had one job and u decided to limit supp chrono into using the shield or go home. thats not a fix. oh. and thanx for finally untying crit chance on chrono from slow uptime... oh wait. that was a dream. ah yes. and engi needed the rifle rework. mostly the might generation is good. cos engi has no might right? RIGHT?
  16. The blog and the patch notes contradict eachother. By making fury sources aoe, but making the duration less then icd u make most power builds borderline unplayable while solo. There goes the promise to make builds viable both in and out of group content. As is gl having fury uptime with a weaver, or a mesmer or most other power builds for that matter. Oh and now u loose 25% crit instead of 20 while not having it.
  17. im actually mad this time. most changes made to the game since ive started playing were good. even if they meant nerfs to what i was playing. they felt like someone did think them thru, sometimes mistakes were made sure, but who cares about eles blasting fury from fire fields, right? (why this was changed 2 years ago, especially in light of current planned changes is beyond me) but this patch is a joke. its bad to the core. unless, like i said, not all was revealed and they compensate lack of access to fury somewhere else this is horrible. the fury changes are so bad im, no joke, gonna take a break i think. or maybe we should rely on jade protocols when soloing?? is nc soft involved in decision making lately? cos this is pretty much their level of incompetence.
  18. catalyst is getting the nerf hammer again? becouse of how strong it is now its probably not bad, what is super bad with ele is additional 5% crit in air - this completely invalidates the whole fury rework. just skip this change altogether, or change it so u get additional 5% while under fury boon. as is it goes exactly against what this patch was meant to do - that is to get rid of pointless conditional traits. who cares u get 5% more crit in air when u have to rotate elements anyway, so ull either have less then 100% most time, or overshoot and waste stats. this change is pointless. chrono still has no crit. especially now. danger time is pointless. and now u have no fury uptime unless in a group. wasnt this patch suppose to adress exactly that? unless not all patch notes are posted or the ones that were are false chrono is just stupid now. u had to take eagle or thief runes before, and now u get even less fury and its even more important cos without it u loose 25% crit instead of 20. havnt really look up all the changes for all the classess but for solo play u actually made it worse with the fury changes. same with weaver and all other classes which only had one source of fury, which is now aoe but without boon duration u loose 25% crit half the time, unless ur in a party. i recall the blog stating u wanted to make builds viable both in and out of group content? unless im not understanding something correctly most builds will feel handicaped in solo play now, becouse of complete lack of reliable fury access.
  19. if that was the case i would assume we would hear from ppl getting money twice or more for a single sale on really hot items, like ecto. and deffinitely see the economy collapse long ago after ppl just used multibox to exploit this. it took 2 weeks for ppl to find like 10 different money duping exploits in new world that were WAY less obvious; new world being a joke mind you, but still, where theres a will theres always a way. in gw2 after 10 years ppl still claim its gremlins, go figure
  20. keep in mind that the effect will be up for one wing each week, from what was said in the blog. thats not gonna make ppl run in legendary armors in a few days. u would grow old trying to get the lege by farming emboldened. it will however help ppl get into raids and show that they're not impossible to beat, and make more ppl actually try out raids. ppl will still need to learn the mechs and do all wings if they want the get the armor in one lifetime. making the curve less steep does not invalidate your experience imo. also i cant really find a way to exploit this in any meaningful way. even with those buffs, and even if u could stack the buff by simply pulling the boss and /gging u still need to defeat it, still do the mechs, and still keep it relatively short in order to make it worth it. so u still need a group, and ppl need to do the very minimum of at least not watching netflix on second screen. what this system will not do is allow ppl to get free money. what it will do is encourage ppl to try out raids and help them realise they're not impossible. also the game gets easier with each patch pretty much. look at ppl who were the first to kill tequatl or whatnot. now its a joke. if your looking to show off your acomplishments in the game, gw2 just isnt designed to allow this really. all the christmas tree ppl using all the infusions just show off how rich they are, but its invalidated by the fact u can buy the infusions.
  21. yes, those boons dont last forever, but if u consider a 30 second fight with no boons, then with boons this same fight will take like 15 seconds even if you loose them after 10 seconds becouse of how much they increse your dmg output. also most older maps are less populated with mobs, and they have way less hp compared to cantha which makes it so that if u just run around doing whatever u pretty much get perma boons since u get in and out of combat constantly. i agree it doesnt matter much for killing random trash, but still it introduces insane power creep, and dumbs down the gameplay by a lot. and if u consider newer players with access to eod it might even affect their understanding of the class their playing further hindering them when attempting to tackle harder content, which contradicts what anet is trying to do. imo the protocol boons should be on a cooldown, or better yet, give one boon at random out of the ones they can give, so u would get one offensive and one defensive boon when entering combat if u have both protocols - still usefull, but not nearly as overpowered as it is now, and wouldnt affect buildcraft as much.
  22. while the stat increses are fine imo, the boons u get are WAY too much. there are multiple reasons why this is bad. especially when allowed in maps outside of eod that werent designed with this amount of support in mind. it has gotten to a point, where boons are irrelevant pretty much. might aswel just increse base stats and get rid of boons altogether to free server load. it strongly affects a lot of builds, and buildcraft in general, to a point, where it doesnt matter what build u use for open world, as long as u have lots of deeps, boons are a given. it completely destroys sigils and rune sets that revolve around supplying boons. it messes with the balance of a lot of specs, like thief or arcane ele with traits that give dps mods based on unique boons it affects builds like chaos mirage, where innate regen generation is tricky, but having regen gives a ton of stats makes a lot of utility skills obsolete, like signet of inspiration to name just one. sure it only works in open world, and that shouldnt matter, but the reality is that power creep before this change was insane as it was. now u can solo balthazar in sub 20 sec. sure its fun to decimate stuff, but wothout any challange it will get boring. also before anyone says it - sure u can choose to not use this feature, but most players will, and it makes a lot of ow bosses die so fast u skip the whole fight that was designed to be this epic event. it affects a lot of the game design aspects in a bad and damaging way imo.
  23. didnt nocite leathers went up so high, gonna plop that scavenger: leather protocol on my bot
  24. an idea came to mind about how to make dragons end way more accesible, enjoyable, and technically without a nerf. the map preperations buffs u can get before the meta are way too strong. 10 stacks of the buff u get there gives 20% more dmg, since at max stacks the effect is doubled, plus u get 5% from high readiness. thats 25% dmg for the whole squad. thats cool and all, but the meta is balanced around ppl having those buffs, and if half the squad came late, u loose bout 2 minutes on the fight. plus if u want the whole squad to have it u have to spend close to an hour before the meta even starts. why not get rid of the dmg portion of the buff, and instead lower boss hp accordingly. this way, u will still want high readiness, for the 5% (but would probably be fine without it) and get the stacks still for additional loot, and defensive portion of those buffs to make it easier. but you wouldnt have to worry about wasting 2 hours just becouse half your squad didnt know/refused to get the buffs, or just came late not wanting to spend 2 hours on it, and fail at 5% of the boss. one of the biggest issues with dragons end is that a 2 hour effort made by few can actually be undone by others, and u cant really control that, unless u want to start segregating ppl.
  25. dont know if this has been suggested, but i guess i must have been, since currently the system, to switch maps is abysmal unfortunetly. we badly need a way to simply que to a map instead of having to spam join, and get the immersion decimating error popup. its frustrating, extremely ineficient, and just simply bad. we need a que system! what would be really nice would be to have the ability to see all the ips in a secondary tab in lfg, with traffic shown, and then decide which u want to join if u feel like switching maps. also see if the map will support the amount of players u have with your party/squad, and allow creation of new, with the condition of having, say, at least a 40 man squad, and given that none of the current maps would fit that squad to prevent fragmentation. probably a more aggressive measures to consolidate the maps after majority of players left after finishing what they were doing would have to be set in place. also, make the server "hold" a slot for a player that just left the map, for like 2 minutes, and let him return to that same map in case of random disconnect and such. often times when u get disconnected on a busy meta, ur pretty much done. current system flaws are especially evident now, with new maps, with a lot of players just exploring, doing story. you end up with a 50 kitten squa with 15 able to join. this has to be addressed since its insanely frustrating to have to deal with it. the current system makes it so that you wouldnt have to worry about servers and just immerse yourself in the game, which seems nice on paper, but with bigger and more demanding metas it just doesnt work and creates a ton of frustration.
