No. The new way is more beneficial to players that like the game to set the goals for them. It's not so beneficial for players that prefer to set the goals for themselves and dislike being railroaded into doing Spirit Vestibule on weekly basis (for example). It is more beneficial to players playing the same game mode all the time. It is slightly less beneficial to players that play the same mix of gamemodes all the time. It is not so good to those that prefer to play the mode that picks their fancy on that specific moment...

Basically, the system is more beneficial to players that are not a good fit for GW2 as it was originally designed and came from games that taught them to be lost without the game making decisions for them. And it is less beneficial for those that liked this game for the freeform playstyle it offered.

This system is basically a spreadsheet checklist form thrown in your face with the suggestion to fill it first before you can start having fun on that day. Which might be fun for those that like spreadsheets, but for me degrades the whole game experience.

Yes, i have noticed that i am earning more than i did in the previous system. I have noticed as well, that i am also having far less fun than before.

Your reply reads like you're trying to force your disappointment as being the actual reality - and it isnt. Its just your perspective and that reality is yours alone to bare.

The WV doesnt set your goals because there is far more to do, participate in, and accomplish than the tasks the WV offers. I agree that some of the task arent fun, but you dont have to complete every task in a set to earn the final reward. Sure, you lose a small amount of AA by doing so - but I also dislike the Spirit Vestibule, so I just avoid it and the losses havent occurred to me in a way thats bothersome. I agree that the WV can give the player more agency to choose tasks across the different game modes, and I would imagine that at some point this will probably change, however, your perspective on this is your perspective, and either way - players will still choose the tasks that are easiest, quickest, and most enjoyable to complete a set. Players who choose only PVE tasks now will likely only choose them when/if the WV is converted into allowing players to choose tasks from any game mode at any time.

I dont agree with you at all on your second point there. I have played GW since day one, and I have played 2 since beta. I believe whole-heartedly that the WV is a very welcomed change across the player base and was designed with old and new players in mind. I've been playing RPG and adventure games all the way back to Zork on an IBM floppy disk in 1988. My catalogue for gaming runs from Baldur's Gate through Remnant and everything in between. You cant really assume that just because you dont like how something tastes that nobody else should like it either. With or without the WV, this game still retains its sense of adventure - how you choose to enjoy it is on you. If your sense of fun only exists in what you can gain from playing and not playing just because its fun to play, well - I guess I can find a way to shoehorn your point into understanding.

I think if you look at the WV like some kind of routine workload - that its something you must do just to get by, then you're cultivating your own ball and chain. I play this game because its a fun and relaxing way to release stress. I never play it feeling like I have to keep up with anyone, like I need this or that to fulfill my sense of pride. So, in that sense - the WV to me is just a bonus. I am going to play how I like to play regardless. Sometimes I dont even do the daily or weekly or special stuff. But what I love about the WV is that when I play, I dont have to wait until I reach a specific day for a specific log in reward. My itch for gaming is never in the same place for very long and it could take me months, a whole year even to get through 28 days of log in bonuses. Now, when I do play the game, I can complete a small set of engaging tasks, gain some AA, and then use that to purchase whatever I want/need from the WV.

I think overall - a general personality trait for people is that some people welcome change and some people dont. Unfortunately, for the people who dont welcome change, well - change is a fundamental property of our ultimate reality, no matter your perspective. Everything is changing all the time and those who welcome and adapt to it usually continue forward with less stress and more smiles.

  2. Sometimes we come across players doing a hero challenge solo and stand just outside and watch to see if they will need help or not. Unfortunately, in these instances, maybe 75% of players we come across end up in down-state. So, we rez and help them finish it off.

On the other hand, we have been downed also, mostly for poor or lazy planning, and have welcomed the help when it arrives.

Honestly, after so many years, I'd rather not go back to the closest way point and do it all over again, and we like to think other players are like-minded.

    But maybe not 🤷‍♂️

I mean, I can swipe and buy anything in the game. I can just buy Legendary weapons, which bypasses the need of making weapons, so, it's clearly an issue, right? I can buy lvl80 boosts to bypass having to level, there are even WP unlock packages in the game since a very long time, repair canisters still exist as well.

There are people crying this is P2W and stuff like that, though, we all know that "P2W" has lost its meaning, or atleast people don't know that people being able to waste their money or something easily obtainable in game is the opposite of P2W. Extra specialization slots, skill slots or stronger than Ascended gear that is only obtainable through paying for them would be P2W. Having an option to buy 10HPs for gems on top of... you know.. HP TRAINS and Heroics is closer to Anet adding something to make some people waste their gems.

The fact that we have to come here to argue about this any further than this quoted comment here is a tragedy of humanity.

  4. This is something that nobody cares about it if you buy it or not. Personally, for me - its a waste of money, but I can absolutely understand why there is a market for this. People will always complain about optional-expenses existing that they 100% do not need to engage with based on the fact that other people will engage with them...

I would not buy this but, what about some random player buying this should bother me? I simply dont care...

  5. I genuinely find "give me a reason to xyz" posts absolutely ridiculous. If you dont like something, why does anyone need to convince you? This isnt to insult anyone - just an observation that the best thing you can always do is doing something you enjoy or like regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I also dont like playing Vindicator either. I dont like the way it plays - Ren is much more fun. Period.

I don't know if it helps.  What I'm saying is there was a change specifically to graphics and the character select screen.  I'm wondering if there's additional load time because of that change.

You could try deleting the gw2cache to attempt to clear out whatever may be the "cruft" related to the change.

There was a new build released last night and that seems to have solved the issue for me. Thanks!

  7. Ive noticed since the recent update, it is taking GW2 17-seconds to start up (load the character select screen).  Normally, on my PC, its just a few seconds. I'm not having loading issues anywhere else in the game. I've been playing GW2 on this PC for two years now.

    My PC for general reference:

    i5 12600k

    RTX 3060TI

    32GB RAM

    Samsung 1TB NVME

They're called noob traps because they look like they're valuable when in fact they are the opposite. Ie: the kind of thing a noob would fall for, but not someone who does a little research. Tier 5 bags, really? Essence of luck? Obsidian shards? All are much cheaper to acquire considering the range of items you can get with astral acclaim.

To clarify my statement - why make an issue out of it since there is an over abundance of acclaim.

Pretty sure the mention about "3 unique armor pieces" was about the armor skins. -so we had sanctified boots, gloves and shoulders. Now we'll have sanctified headgear/chest/legs. Ascended armor wasn't unique in any way.

As for ascended armor, well, this:

Ah, gotcha - because it was too much to be more clear I guess.

  10. It's worded in the studio update that three unique pieces will be available to compliment the three from the previous season. Does that wording sound like we may not see those chests return in season 3+?

I know many players are or were expecting that to be something continous. Now it seems a bit of an uncertainty.

    Please share...

  11. Removing mini dungeons from maps and make them explorable areas with stories tied to them but no mechanics.

Add a dungeon to every pve map that doesn't have one with a story that is specific to the map.

Make strikes and fractals more accessible to solo players where the difficulty ramps up depending on how big your party is and offers better rewards the more difficult it is.

    Make activities interesting.

None of us really enjoy class balancing. Personally would like to see this take a back seat while classes are made more fun and engaging to play. It seems like balancing is done to effectively make it less fun, and this is compounded by some classes already not being very much fun to play.

More focus on bugs and other glitches that limit players. Gold coin # 14 in Silverwastes still unreachable without glitching through the map. Stuff like this.

WvW - I don't claim to know enough about this to have any great suggestions, but I do know enough about it to know that zerging isn't fun no matter what side of it you're on. I understand that it's necessary in some circumstances, but there has to be more for roamers to do for experience than waddle around.

Some slight graphic upgrades to certain textures like older landscape and building models.

Creepier and more mindbending content and maps like the Realm of Torment from GW1. In addition just simply more of the world opened up. When you zoom out it almost feels like you can see more of where you cannot go than where you can go. We all wonder about those lands covered by the blur.

Last but not least, and even far more likely to not happen. Bring back dual classing.

  12. What I don't understand about these balance changes is why they sometimes just seem to be made in an arbitrary way. With the variety of builds, lately it feels like there is not a foundation for fun. As if sometimes the changes are made to penalize players for discovering awesome builds. While balancing is a routine for the devs - so many other parts of the game that need work (lingering for years) goes untouched, and those things also limit the potential for fun.
