  1. If all you did, and all you ONLY did was log in to collect the daily reward - then the old system gave more tangible rewards, but if that's all you did then those rewards were basically worthless anyway.

Otherwise, if you logged in, collected your daily rewards and then played for a little bit - this new system, reward wise for actually playing the game, has been proven to be factually more rewarding than the old system. Period. Whether or not you enjoy actually playing the game is up to you, and if don't enjoy playing - I can understand why you're not being rewarded.

First, this isn't a ragequit, GW2 is still worth playing, but the changes significantly reduced my enjoyment and the devs should know why. I'm a software developer with decades of experience and I know the value of well reasoned customer feedback. Here's mine to help a game I love.

First, the new system has less choice. In the old system I could log on, and have a dozen things to choose from. I might not choose WvW as often as PvE, but I regularly did, and often ended up playing for a lot longer than I'd intended. The new system I have to pre-register for my "mode", and if I include one I play less frequently it comes at the expense of choices in a mode I'm more likely to play. So you penalize your players for keeping an open mind and trying new stuff, stuff they might discover they enjoy and give them another reason to log on.

Second, I have purchased HoT, PoF, and EoD for myself and my entire family, and we play together. I also encourage friends to join, and help them to get established. In the old system we all got the same dailies and could do them together, in the new system we're getting different objectives in areas we both own and both have completed events in. I get how you wouldn't give an event in an expansion a player doesn't own, but if we own the same expansion give us both the same objective in it. If we can't do dailies together, there is less incentive to log on as a group. Research shows that today people log into games to play with people they know, why would you introduce a change that makes it harder to play with your friends?

Third but related to the second, why exclude new players from the dailies? People without a level 80 character don't have access to dailies under the new system, while the old system gave them under-80 alternatives. It was a much better design. Why lock out new players, they are exactly who you should be giving the most encouragement to!

Fourth, and also related to the second, don't give me a daily I cannot access. The old system was really good about offering things that might be difficult (i.e. many of the jumping puzzles) but at least I could get there. Yesterday I go an objective in an are you had to complete a collection to get into. I exited without doing my dailies. That's just frustrating.

Fifth, the point system is confusing. I like the flexibility to choose more than just 2 gold, and I like that I don't get nothing if I complete 2 of the 3 dailies, but the old system gave strong and immediate reinforcement and did give you smaller rewards for each step. But the new system is at best poorly explained. Even after going to the wiki and reading the article, I feel a bit unsure about the new system. Do seasons reset my points? Do points expire? Are "legacy rewards" really going to stick around? Are the prices going to stay the same of go up after the honeymoon?

Sixth, the new system feels like it rewards a lot less. The daily login gave nice stuff every week, just for logging in, and there was incentive to do more once you did log in. I haven't done the math, but it feels like the reward for just logging in is much less than the old rewards for just logging in every day. Again, I haven't done the math, but it feels like the reward for doing 3 dailies every day for a month is also a lot less. If I took my reward in gold for doing a login and 3 tasks on the list every day for 3 months, in the old system I'd have 180 gold, 60 mystic coins, 100 laurels, 6000 luck, a dozen gem store items, a dozen transmutation charges, 3 celebration boosters, 3 chests of loyalty, 6% gold find, and more. What would I have in the new one? Is it even close?

And the proof is in the pudding. In the last few years I've missed only a couple dozen days of doing dailies, mostly because of vacations or computer problems. But I haven't finished my dailies even once since the expansion came live. I still like the game, and I still feel like logging in, but the desire to log in, and the sense that I'm missing something easy if I skip, is significantly reduced, and that can't be good for the game overall.

I'd love to see an official response to this or to some of the similar posts I've seen, in many games I play or have played the feeling is the devs (or at least the decision makers) just don't care what the players think, and I'd love to see evidence to the contrary here.

    Thanks for your time!

As a long term player back through GW1 day one, I appreciate you taking the time to put something constructive together.

    1. We're seeing this word "choice" everywhere and I don't think it's a precise enough word for what is going on as the difference between the old and new. I think "pre-register" is a good addition to the conversation that is getting us closer to what the real difference is. The old system did offer several options readily available for each mode, but they were routinely the same tasks over and over. While choosing which modes you wanted to play to complete the daily was more accessible, I just dont agree that we genuinely had more choice then than we do now. I do agree that we need something more robust, however, when it comes to "choice" with the new system, like maybe being able to sift through each modes dailies/weeklies without being locked into a reset. I have to believe this will eventually evolve because it is a bit clunky.

2/3/4. About 2 months ago we purchased the complete edition, plus Soto later, for my wife. While she was still under level 10, she was getting daily tasks that were in HoT and PoF and we were frustrated she could not complete her daily tasks. It remained like this through level 80 until she moved through the story enough to access those areas. On the other hand, so far, my wife and I have had the same tasks in the new system. Why this is a 180 from your experience, I don't know.

    5. The problem here is that there is fundamentally just not enough info and I 100% agree here. While some greater bits of info have been shared here and elsewhere, accessibility to that info needs to be in a more organized format.

    6. If you're just logging in and not playing at all, then yes - you will get less in tangible reward. But, in the old system, what are those rewards really worth to you or anyone else if they're only being collected and not being used. Otherwise, if you logged in and did play the game - this new system has proven mathematically more rewarding by many players who presented their findings in detail here and elsewhere.

I'm not arguing anything you're saying here, just adding perspective. No who is right and who is wrong, okay...

Having 12 options to choose from meant rarely not having fun options to choose. The choice was not an, "illusion." Sure there may have been an occasional day where the options available were unappealing or unobtainable, in theory at least, but that never happened once for me. Its happened every day under the new system. Who knows, perhaps it will get better, but that choice you call an illusion meant years of enjoying my dailies while removing it has meant the opposite.

And yes, one is entitled to express disatisfaction with a product. Whether you call it, "review bombing," or constructive feedback, or just complaining, customers are in fact entitled to do so. Sure ANet could, in theory, decide that negative reactions to their game are not allowed on the forums they own and operate, it is private property after all, but that wouldn't mean that customers don't have a right to complain, just that they aren't entitled to do so here. Ultimately a perception by the gaming community at large that a company is trying to hide or suppress negative feedback would not do the company any good.

Having the same rotating tasks in different locations doesn't sound like choice...it more so sounds like routine. Enjoying that experience is subjective - same as not enjoying the changes...for you anyway.

And I think you completely misinterpreted what I meant regarding entitlement. I used the phrase "review bomb" for a specific reason. Because I don't think anyone has the right to say the entire restaurant sucks just because they dont like the flavor of the food. A lot of times people complain for the sake of it - to be a part of the group/mob mentality. In these cases, it's more a personal issue than something being genuinely wrong with a thing. And I just dont agree that anyone has the right to downgrade the quality of a thing over a personal problem.

I never said anything about suppressing feedback, so thanks for adding your thoughts there.

You are comparing a log-in reward system with a daily action system.  The items you listed from the old system were purely for logging in, you didn't have to do anything else for them.  So, to compare the old with the new you have to use the same basis, purely logging-in.  Therefore after 77 days of logging in only, you have 385 AA (5 per day * 77 days), now try to buy all the original log-in rewards with the 385AA and see how far you get.

This doesn't really make any sense because if you're JUST logging in for the rewards and then not playing and then not using those daily rewards for anything - then those rewards are basically worthless. You're not getting very far this way either.

However, if you are actually playing the game, this new system is far more rewarding than logging in and doing nothing with basically nothing because you WILL get acclaim and you will use it to buy the rewards.

When a company feels the need to pay me to not enjoy my time in the game they are on the wrong track in my opinion.

I enjoyed doing dailies that I chose before the WV was introduced. I could decide to hunt other players for Invasion Defender, or choose to do events in a PvE zone that I found aesthetically pleasing and engaging, or any number of fun activities. This isnt about getting rewards more easily, I could spend real money on gems for greater gold gain than any other method of acquisition in the game if I wanted to, its about enjoying the process. Getting rewarded for doing cool things in a game is what ticks the box for me, and perhaps others. The new system lessens that. Add in the issues with completing dailies with a group of friends and the fun factor goes down further.

....and, by the way, whining about other people complaining about a product they paid for is not any better.

The previous version of dailies was still a random set with the expectation of there being the same themes over and over, but they were still random, and I think the illusion of choice is throwing some people off the mark here. It's not like you could choose which zone you wanted to complete 4 events in etc.

I believe now we're just working with a new system of delivering daily rewards for engaging in a variety of content - but it's not quite "there" yet; some tweaks and upgrades are still needed. With that, I think as ANet collects feedback, we will see the new system evolve into something more tangible. Personally, I enjoy the idea of completing daily rewards that are pretty much locked in to simply playing the game, well...anywhere. And then with the weekly rewards being a more specific set of tasks that hopefully take place in zones I don't normally frequent - I would enjoy this.

Most of what is being debated regarding these changes are subjective, and some of it - positive or negative - isn't very constructive at all; it's not getting us anywhere.

I think, in pve terms, killing 10 veterans isn't anymore fun than getting ported to the end of a JP. I honestly had more fun completing Jade Crisis than doing 4 events in a player clogged beginner zone where you have 20 players doing an escort and you're just hoping you can at least get one or two hits in.

In the end - I agree that complaining about other people who are complaining is counterproductive. But nobody was forced to buy anything from ANet and I don't believe that gives anyone the entitlement to essentially "review bomb" ANet over their own personal disappointment of something they purchased. ANet isn't deliberately seeking to disappointment or negatively impact the players experience - which is why most of this back and forth is over our subjective experiences.  We can't forget that liking or disliking these changes are opinions. There is no data on enjoyment - plus or minus. But there is data on what is being rewarded to players as we acclimate to the new system - and so far in that regard it has proven to be a major plus.

  6. I guess this would kinda toss a wrench in your plans if you're only making gold from ascended materials. I'm not sure what ripple effect it would have otherwise.

Still, 154 days at the least for a full set of one stat line - roughly 5 months. Honestly, this only makes me feel like it's good for celestial to bypass charged crystals. Crafting other ascended armor pieces aren't that bad, and if you can't wait, then you will buy the time gated components.

Your true competition comes when the pve legendary armor is released...what will you do then?

  7. Not being able to name our mounts!

How could you do this to us ANet??

I mean, we can name pets but not mounts?!?!?!

Sheesh...wait till hundreds of thousands of players quit and you have to shut down servers...then you'll let us name mounts...

Until then, I'll just hang around here until this game gets better....

Let us name mounts or riot.

Yeah the OP is right on 3 things:

    - The new dailies are kitten. You're forced to play all faces of game content to get less rewards than before.

    - The relics are a joke. 100 runes effects to 40 relics. And half of them have different effects now. WTF. Plus no leg relic yet...

    - The new maps are a pain to navigate without masteries. They should make the TPs free or make npcs that tp you at high elevations like the helicos in HoT.

The big problem is that before you used to get 7 mystic clovers + 35 laurels + 20 mystic coins every 28 days just by logging in. Plus other rewards like tomes of knowledge (spirit shards), bags of luck and black lion goods.

Now just by logging in you get 5 astral acclaim. Which gets you EITHER 2 mystic clovers OR 15 mystic coins OR 14 laurels, but you can mix and match... for instance you can get 1 clover + 4 mystic coins + 4 laurels. That's a pretty hefty reward nerf.

Sure you can fill up with daily achievements, but previously you could pick any 3 out of a list of 12, whereas now you can only do the 3 that the game forces you to pick. It didn't help that yesterday one of the tasks was quite time-consuming to do.

have you read this post? Maybe this will clear things up for you...

No you dont get it all show at the same time.

You get 3 total dailys no matter if you have pve, wvw, spvp all ticked you dont get show 9 total of 3 each mate stop spreading missinformation.

If you have all 3 ticked you get 1 pve 1 wvw and 1 spvp its not better in any way.

When did I ever mention, or suggest, anything about there being 3 of each showing up?

You know whats worse than misinformation - assuming I said something that fits YOUR own misinformed narrative so you can act like you're proving me wrong. The Diablo 4 forums are a better for you.

    Like me.

This is objectively worse and you people KEEP defending it.

I guess you're just those happy people who you keep paying the same price for less content and LOVE IT!

    gOoD FoR yOUUU

Okay, sure...but if you made that mistake - whose fault is that? I made that mistake myself and so did a bunch of other players I spoke with in game, but guess what - the information was clear about selecting which objectives you wanted to show up, and everyone I spoke with didn't blame the game and took accountability for their mistake. It's not worse - you made a mistake and so did many other players the only difference is in the accountability.

  12. This really is THE only information that needs to be considered regarding the vault. I was going to do the math today myself because it's obvious that it is more rewarding simply just by looking at it, but these days - people barely understand information even if you spell it out for them....slowly.

It's not perfect - it can use some tweaks. But it is better and by no means does it need to be rebuilt OR do we need to go back to the old system.
