  1. Might as well play a P2W game if you want to buy your way around everything here.
  2. The thing is that players new to GW2 do not know how Living World works or what it even is. It's only referred to as "Living World" on the website, so there's no way of guessing it may be additional paid content at all. They don't know it's a series separate from their expansions (as in, it was released before or after HoT or PoF), but the idea that you require X expansion to play X episode in X season is what makes one assume that said content will be included with the expansion. Let's not forget that new players may also assume that LW is free content instead of something included with the xpac. I did fall in the same trap back in the day, because nothing about LW was explained on the website. So I agree that it's intentionally misleading, and quite scammy. I really don't get the mental gymnastics behind this.
  3. Fair enough! To be honest, I've seen people say they'll quit quite often even years ago, so maybe I've become desensitized. Given the recent kittenshow, I don't blame them.
  4. For anyone looking to jump into the game and stumbled across this - do NOT believe the people that claim that GW2 is dead. This has been a meme since the game's release week. It's mostly people who haven't even played the game - the rest just wish for GW2 to become empty. As a PvE player playing in the EU server, it's pretty active. I heard the US server isn't as active, but from what I've personally seen, its population is still pretty serviceable. I'm not a copium inhaler - in fact, I stopped playing the game for my own reasons. But I try my best to relay what needs to be relayed. This. If anything, it's grown quite a bit since EoD's release a few months ago. Though I'll be frank, I don't know the exact growth number. I'd rather leave that to someone more knowledgeable. Registered accounts, I presume. I don't think there's any MMO out there that surpassed a couple million monthly active users. According to multiple estimations, FFXIV's active playerbase consists of between 1 and 2 million. It's not clear whether that's weekly or monthly, however. Its all time peak of people currently playing, according to Steam charts, is currently at 95.102 players. But FFXIV isn't played predominantly on Steam, to my knowledge. So that's only part of the data. Lost Ark, according to Steam, has had 313.083 players at its daily peak. How do you know that?
  5. Weird comment ... None of the other balance patches resulted in me quitting, because I tried to be as tolerant of ANet's B.S as I could. And even then, it's this exact patch when the "balance" team has been exposed not knowing how the game works as well as only "balancing" the meta to their favor. So it's not just a possibility that this game's balance is screwed for as long as these certain sunny people remain in the balance team, it's a fact. And the plentiful evidence we recently got is no lie. Unless they admit their mistake and address the leaks honorably AND listen to the community/take responsibility for the damage they caused with the patch by reversing it, instead of trying to sweep everything under the rug using death threats as a guilt tripping method, they have no right to ask for mine and definitely many others' trust ever again. Anyway, it took a while for me to quit for good because this game meant a lot to me and helped me through some extremely difficult times in my life. Otherwise, I'd have quit this game for good a long time ago. Letting go of anything, even an MMO, isn't always easy.
  6. I feel this more and more each day. Part of my stress the past few months has been over this game, what with the negativity I see in the forums/subreddit, which I'm slowly starting to believe. I feel conflicted about actually playing for any longer than I already have, but at the same time I feel like all my time and money will have gone to waste if I quit. Sunk cost fallacy. ANet's sheer negligence is to blame for all of this. I don't understand why I'm still worrying over a company that has lied to us time and time again. What happened to Alliances? PvP rework? Elementalist (subjectively most fun class) CPR? Where have such promises gone? I wanted to enjoy Guild Wars 2 for what it's supposed to be - to play the way I want with as many options provided to me as possible. I stayed for the class diversity. The freedom to fight in combat the way I like. The challenging but also rewarding combat. And what do I see now? An infestation of Guardians and Engineers. Too much of anything can be bad and look ugly. Simply put, it's not a good image for the game. GW2's uniqueness is eroding in my eyes. So what is it now? A mere husk of what it used to be. Good job, ArenaNet.
  7. Notice how they had plenty of time --not just weeks, but MONTHS, by the looks of it-- to come up with excuses behind these design decisions, but still ended up coming short in the end. Please just admit that you've royally screwed up and stop lying. It's only harming your reputation more.
  8. Greetings. I've been playing this game in and out for the past few years. I don't care about the meta, as I don't play raids and whatever (yet). But I heard there was a massive nerf wave. Is it worth to still play the game as someone who mostly focuses on open world PvE? Is it still okay to try out raids or strikes with any class other than mechanist and firebrand? It was my concern for a while, thinking that the balance patch would kitten the game. I don't understand the meta, so I won't pretend to know if all changes were good or bad, but I'd like to know if it ruined gameplay for the nerfed classes. Should I have anything to worry about in regards to the future of the game with that in mind? I'm lacking sleep, so I hope this question makes sense.
  9. How excellent! I've been waiting for this tweak for a long, long time. ❤️
