  1. I renamed my gw2-64.exe in the main game folder. Launcher redownloaded it and fixed the problem for me. GL!
  2. There was an official response in another thread that they were looking into it, ~2 hours ago.
  3. Try renaming or deleting the game exe (gw2-64.exe), so the launcher can redownload it. I have been playing for an hour now, after not being able to log in for 3 hours, after doing that.
  4. Ok, I just fixed this for myself. Renamed the gw2-64.exe --> gw2-64.exe.old in the main game directory. This is the main game .exe, NOT the launcher. Run launcher, which immediately replaces a the now missing gw2-64.exe file. Run game. Works, finally! GL all!
  5. So far: Failed to log in 3 times with the audio/no video problems, got in on the 4th. Alt-tabbed and the game crashed w/error to report. Sent. All subsequent attempts to log in have failed, 90%+ with no error, just freezing with audio playing. All of these have done nothing for me despite working for some others (#2 is my own addition): Forced -windowed mode via command line argument; Forced -nosound via command line argument; Turning off Game Mode in Windows 10; Running as Admin; Renaming cache file folders. Have not attempted any combinations of the above. Have done multiple full reboots as well as just user log outs or "new desktop" workarounds to get to task manager to close the game. #5, because the game never successfully runs and has to be improperly shut down, means that the launcher can't "remember" my username and pw to log in now, so I've only succeeded in making my login attempts more annoying.
  6. Aaaand after that one "success" it is again failing to load. First as before, audio only, no error. Second, again, but with an error to send anet. Third didn't even load, just immediately crashed with no messages. The error references the game gw2-64.exe, and \Perforce\Live\NAEU\v2\Code\Arena\Services\Handle\Handle.h(81) Guess I'll go find something else to do for a few hours.
  7. Interestingly, after attempting to log in for a fourth time, it finally worked. Keep trying folks! Just... don't alt-tab after you get in. I did to post here, and the game then crashed and I sent the log to anet.
  8. Tried again with browser running in background in hopes I could at least alt-tab between but no good. Got task manager up though, which showed the game using fairly minimal resources, and "not responding" as its status.
  9. Just chiming in, same issue. Launcher runs, game "runs" and I see it in the task bar, but I never leave my desktop/graphics never load. Audio loads so I can hear the char select music, and that's it. Only options were to log out & back into my PC, or reboot.
  10. It looks very much like WoW fishing. Which is dull. If there's a sliding scale between "Press F" and the fishing mechanics of FFXV, then WoW's is just a tick or so from the "Press F" end. Would have preferred something closer to the other end of that scale. AND have the extra effort be worthwhile. But making both of those happen would likely be outside the scope of this game. The skiffs are meh, everyone's pretty much covered what my thoughts are on them. Multi-person skimmers. Probably incrementally speedier or whatnot, but with costs far exceeding their relative improvement over skimmers. Not really enthused. I don't doubt they'll introduce some mechanic where you can't finish/reach X because you haven't gotten one and the skimmer will arbitrarily balk at whatever body of water/sulphur/etc is created to cause this. It's the game within the game.
  11. Is OP asking highest PoI, or just highest reachable point on a map? I'm pretty sure Bitterfrost has some ceiling issues over the forest. Some dude was waaaaay up there on his mount during the Return event on the map I was on.
  12. I just want to point out that you get a ninth birthday gift if your character is 9 years old. Not if you've played for nine years (or even portions of each of the 9 years). You also get these gifts regardless of whether you were around in the appropriate year. Case in point: I took a 7 year hiatus and returned in May. All of my characters got all their intervening birthday gifts. It's nice that they were remembered, and by no means am I upset about free anything in this game. The disappointment is valid (reusing a title, really? Bugged food with 5 candles?), but the "I've been around for 9 years and all I got was this t-shirt" argument is irrelevant because this isn't a celebration of your playing time. It's a celebration of Anet releasing a game.
  13. You are not understanding the problem, obviously, since what you just stated is what is NOT happening right now. Please stop.
  14. So I did the old achieves a few weeks ago, just before the season we re-released, and I know exactly how the missions run. At the time I replayed the whole thing from the start because I didn't realize there were purple replay points (those are new relative to when I last played ~7 years ago). At any rate, I know exactly what comes after Caithe's Recon mission. However after completing this from the purple replay point, the NPC I needed to talk to was not there when I was ported back to the camp. I repeat, he was NOT THERE. The mail I received after the mission was from Marjory, also unrelated to this issue. Yes I will be replaying this whole series in order beginning with Salma now, since it's not working correctly, with "correctly" being based on how this has worked for the other new achieves the last couple of weeks. Please stop pointing people to the order of events in the wiki - that order is not happening if you started directly from the replay point for Caithe's Recon mission, or at least not reliably so if you've done the story before. Pointing people to a story step that isn't triggering isn't accomplishing anything other than pointing out that you don't understand the issue occurring.
