  1. Give Rampage a Burst and Decrease its cooldown 30 seconds. Or perhaps bursting into Rampage decreases its cooldown by 10 sec for each stage of adrenaline; (and give rampage a burst; something like 1st stage of andrenaline gives quickness, 2nd stage adds resistance, 3rd stage increases effectiveness of 1st and 2nd stages; or such and such)
  2. its nice that they are account bound. but even so, i don't have the time to play other professions so the feature is somewhat moot. im sure there are other ways to make lots of gold or acquire items faster but i do pretty much only story and open world content. if i want an actual challenge i'll do a jumping puzzle; but yeah - no, those are prolly too challenging for my tastes. i stay away from instanced content because i do not like competing for other peoples time. if i want that, i'll walk out my front door and mill about with the rest of the manimals, irl. the open world content and story is more than enough fun for me. i enjoy doing that content. i also like seeing people in their shiney outfits and skins and what not for variety. i like seeing people with their legendaries and think that it would be cool to have one. i'll never get one but its nice to see em.
  3. I just spent 20g for that Jackal in PoF and that is a lot of gold. A lot. I would expect at a minimum to make that gold back playing the content that the Jackal was designed to do. There better be some good rewards behind them swirling sand things to justify throwing 20 gold at that mount. But I really bought it because my spellbreaker dagger quest gave a hint that requires me to use it. So i told myself I was really spending 20g for an ascended dagger and the jackal was a bonus. 20g for an ascended dagger is about what i paid for an ascended sword. i paid that gold mainly because i was not gonna farm the low level materials. this is my main gripe with ascended gear. they force you to use the trading post(which is a scam) to buy t2-t5 mats or grind out those materials spending hundreds of hours doing so. you cant casually play l80 content to craft ascended. just not happening. Making gold in this game doing open world content is one helluva hardcore grind. I threw some $ at anet yesterday cause I really enjoy warrior and I like having the flexibility of changing my gear and builds on the fly between events. So now i have a core, beserker, spellbreaker, and bladesworn gear/build sets I can switch to them without having to juggle my inventories too much. But the day i have to turn $ into gold is the day I delete my toons and account and never look back. I started in early March from a 7 year absence. I started with 265 gold and am at 230g, so from that point of view Im losing. I did craft 3 ascended weapons and a couple exotic sets. plus that damned 20g Jackal was a kick to the my wallets groin. they better fire up the gold minting presses and make em go brrrrrrrr if Im ever going to get that griffon flyer.
  4. lol. im running mace/shield on a condi berserker build for the defiance breaks. head butt is great for that also.
  5. im playing around with it atm. i had to trait it with shield master to make it do anything usefull cause by itself its pretty meh. actually, without that trait its kinda useless. i agree with you. its great cc. mace offhand is nice for knockdown and vulnerability on 4. i love using mace/shield. very good cc.
  6. As it is its fairly meh. To make it better, i propose the following: Shield Bash: keep it as is BUT add a charge. if you are out of melee range it will charge you to the target then bash. if you are in range it acts as it normally does. Shield Block: this is just no-bueno. its need a lot of spice. 1st block - just a simple block to pair up with shield master trait; basically as it is working currently 2nd block - same as 1st but add auto retaliate with 1 sec daze 3rd block - same as 1st but add an option to activate a retaliate that will end the blocking with a stun (like engi) 4th block - same as 1st but add an aoe 1 sec stun 5th block - ulitmate block - auto retaliate with aoe 2 sec knockdown and end blocking (even if 3 sec skill duration has not expired) now; how the heck is someone gonna reach 5th block in a 1v1 in 3 secs. prolly not gonna happen but maybe the 3rd block is where the balance needs to happen between 1v1 and groups. in a group setting, its highly likely that several people hitting on you will get you to 5th block within 3 sec. please dont get caught up in the specifics above. THE GENERAL IDEA is to spice up shield block AND have it do something spicey in 1v1 and 1vX encounter when a block is successful. any thoughts? also, i think the next elite spec should be a wonder woman spec. i want sword and board, mobility - leaps and charges, big power dmg and shield charge, and bash, and throwing ricochets and firetrucks! also should have an elite weapon - a lasso that does cool kitten like pull target or stun or something. weapon swap between lasso and shield. head butt. fist pummel. go fight win! i want to make a wonder woman build and have everyone think yeah, im doing warrior next xpac. do it. doooo itt! DOOOOO IT!!!!! but first add some spice to shield and make it great 🙂
  7. My advice would be to go condi dmg, berserker elite, with toughness gear. don't even think about doing a power build for soloing content, condi is orders of magnitude better. sword+torch and mace/shield or mace/mace for cc. your traits will choose themselves once you choose condi, toughness and berserker elite. my second choice would be do go core with toughness/power gear and trait for banners. i run clerics gear, power dmg and trait for group stuff, healing, might, banners. this build is good for group events. i run mace/mace for cc and axe/axe for dmg. i give healing, might and help do dmg and stay alive. these are the only two builds ive found that can hold their own in HoT or PoF content. stay away from spellbreaker and bladesworn. i have yet to find gear or builds that mesh well with these elite specs. (i tried vallun?s berserker gear spellbreaker elite and it is terrible when compared to condi/toughness gear beserker elite) i may make a separate thread for the condi beserker its that good. it handles groups, adds, can do champions and allows for lots of mistakes in gameplay; which is good because the longer you stay in a champion fight, the more you are exposed to its rotations and can learn from the fight. and stay away from great sword. it is terrible. just all around not good in open world. its slow, it misses, it has low dmg even when you have all berseker- pwr/prec/fero gear. tldr: solo: condi/toughness gear; beserker elite spec. (just go all out condi and toughness) group: power/toughness gear; core banner spec. (can further specialize in healing or more dmg - i chose healing to test it out) Edit: i dont do pvp or wvw so the above is my experience with pve content. people will tell you in pve you can run anything, its just not true. and get ascended gear asap. the stat difference is very noticable and imho baseline; ie you wanna play hard mode use exotics you wanna play normal mode use ascended. other people will lie about this - dont listen to em.
  8. I suppose their more like martial arts stances. Crane Stance for example. You stay in it just long enough for Daniel San to execute his crane kick and win the tournament. My issue with them is that their cooldowns are too long. Compare Signet of Might and Frenzy. Signet of Might: 10Might, 6sec Duration, +300/300, 25sec cooldown Frenzy: 10Might, 6sec Duration, +300/300, 40sec cooldown, 6 sec quickness Its hard to find situations where 6 sec of quickness is a fair trade for an extra 15 sec of cooldown. Think of it like duty cycle; the % of time might can be active. Signet's duty cycle is 6/25 or 24%. Frenzy is 6/40 or 15%. When you trait them with arms and defense you can bump them to 30% and 18.75%. 30% Duty Cycle on signet of might is huge and means 30% of the time you can stack 10Might. The flow of the game is very fast so the difference is very noticable. Thats my opinion. Edit: i guess if your encounters are 1v1 every 60secs or more then perhaps frenzy is the better choice. but in my experience in open world its 1v4ish every 30secs cause mobs be really angry and extra-spawny and mobby.
  9. When i think of "adrenaline fueled fighters with unmatched battle expertise", i think of Gladiator. My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the blah blah blah...berserkers gear and berserkers gear and blah blah blah. And I will have my vengeance, in this downed state or the next. Edit: but it feels like im playing in an alternate timeline; where William Wallace and his bride (who doesn't get prima noctued) have a kitten child - the gw2 warrior; and William is just facepalming and dreaming of lost days when he didnt have to worry about teaching a slower child on how to bersker spin for freedumbs!
  10. meh. i'm moving onto season 4, icebrood and the EoD. maybe those maps won't feel like i'm gettin my balls continuously stomped on.
  11. Maybe solution is to include the wiki into the game. 1) have a character animation showing you reading a map when looking a the map (wow does this) 2) have a character animation showing you reading a book when looking at the in game wiki 3) have a character animation showing you looking at a pocket watch(?) when looking at the event timers. more animations to show others what you are doing and more immersion into the game space is what i would do if i were king. everyone wins. 4) and so that anet can make money you sell different animations of the above 3 or possible a really expense "scholar tag" that lets people edit the wikis. something really expensive to filter out the hooligans. just spitballin ideas.
  12. i tried the education route and ended up homeless and living out of my truck. being willfully ignorant puts me in a better state. i have a roof over my head, food on the table and a modest savings. i'll stick with what works.
  13. im a skeptic by nature. i was born this way. i doubt that particular recipe was discovered by players. i gave up math 10 years ago after getting seriously kittened by it. so for giggles and grins, lets do the math on it. well, lets set up the math and let some other math nerd work out the details. they can write research paper for schrool or something. we have 4 out of X items to put into the mystic forge. X being the number of items that can be fed into the mystic forge. that alone ought to bake everyones noodle. its all ready bakin mine. now assuming we find the 4 items needed, what quantity of each is needed? again, i really don't wanna bust out my discrete mathematics textbook to look up the formulas to begin to calculate the number of combinations. its just pointless because yeah, i'm highly skeptical that recipe was discovered by players throwing items into the forge. so probably anet gives the players a nudge on what to put into the forge or just flat out updates the wiki because someone somehwere would like to craft that mystic torch before the heat death the universe happens. i dunno. like i said. im a non-believer, a skeptic by nature.
  14. I gave up on those lol. Just playing the game casually gave me 4 pieces of Wild Abandon: The Berserkers Ascended torch. Then this morning I thought, why not go back to LW3 and mess around cause I was bored playing PoF maps. I killed a few veteran tigers and got a 5th piece; Flawless Tiger Claw. I wasn't specifically looking for it which is a nice surprise but largely irrelevant. So looking at the collection it says, to go farm Fire Elementals in the iron marches scorchlands for an Everburning Coal. Ugh. Whats the drop rate? How lucky do i have to be? How long will that take? Will i get it after farming 10? 100? 1000? Then it says go to the mystic forge to get a mystic torch. Not much of a hint. It should really say, go to the wiki and look up how to make a mystic torch. Ok. Not hard. But there's no way i would know how to do that without looking it up on the wiki. Like no one, NO ONE, is going to sit at the mystic forge and throw semi-random things into it hoping to get a mystic torch. Thats insanity. So while I'm typing lemme go look up that item on the wiki.... oh jeebus. 1 eldritch scroll for 50 spirit shards (i have 945 so out of ignorance on what these are used for spending 50 seems not so bad) 30 mystic coins (i have 117 so 30 is a lot!) 5 ori torch heads (easy) 5 ancient torch handles (easy) ok, setting asided the massive cost requirement due to mystic coins(Iand possible spirit shards), NO ONE would ever know how to accomplish such a task if not for wiki. so yes. you are correct. i agree. you can get ascended weapons via alternate means but really, cmon. how much of my lifes energy do i have to spend in this game to get a descent item? lol.
  15. Lol. You're going to have to define what casual is because I'm more casual than you. Since picking up the game 2 months ago (7 year break), I'm -20g. I started with 265g and am down to 245g. And I went at it, everyday 8-12 hours for 2 months, just playing the game, casually. Mapping and story content only. No instancing or organzined group content. Just solo. I was able to craft 3ish sets of exotic armor. Heavy Maruader, Clerics, and a mishmash of leather armor for my engi and ranger that say equals 1 set of armor. I also crafted 2 ascended weapons. kitten, those are a grind! The grind is primarily is in basic t2-t4 materials and some select t5 mats like silk, thick leather (the game rains down on you mithril ore and elder wood). For basic t6 materials, the only one in short supply is hardened leather, the others are not a issue. Now, for non basic mats, yes, you are going to have to buy them off the trading post because you will never ever ever ever farm enough of those as a casual. For example ebony orbs or barbed thorns for marauders insignia. You aint farming that casually. Ironically, ebony orbs are kittening cheap as sin and no where to be found during my play sessions. I have 2. Now, to be fair on why I'm -25g. I got 2 hardlight drops, a dagger and scepter, from I'm guessing that super adventure thing that went on. Or i dunno, they just dropped in the open world and I can sell them for 100g. But I rarely, rarely use the trading post. Rare being defined as in almost never. Like, i hate myself for having had to buy 100 bolts of silk to make a spool of silk weaving thread yesterday. And I didnt even need it, im just trying to craft those daily time gated mats to prep for ascended crafting. And when i say hate myself, i mean i feel dirty, disgusting, just all around hateful of myself for having had to trade my time in the game against the trading-post. I'll only buy something off the trading post when I know its going to take me a lot of time to farm AND that item is cheap; for example - ebony orbs. If the item is expensive, i just do without. Am i a casual player?
  16. I started playing again after a 7 year break in the beginning of March. What I've learned is that Ascended gear is the baseline for all content post-core. Everyone assumes that you have full ascended. Otherwise you either don't know what you're doing, you haven't put the time in or you haven't spent enough gold/$$$. Time=Gold/$$$. When people talk about how X build performs they always assume Ascended gear stats. Always. I play open-world and story content. I purchased PoF and EoD and LS3; i have yet to get through LS4 or Icebrood but I plan to do those before doing EoD. I started with 265g and after Hot, LS3 and EoD, I know have 248g. But, i did craft 3 sets of exotic armor, purchased a some cheap runes and sigils off the TP as well as some crafting mats that are always in short supply when playing open-world and story content. I have yet to buy that damned jackal. I just don't want to spend 20g on it. Playing open-world and story-content exclusively, 20g is a lot of gold. A lot. Oh, and I did craft 2 ascended weapons and have been crafting ascended time-gated materials as often as I can. The biggest hinderence to ascended-anything is T2-T4 mats. Now, onto warrior. I played all that post-core content on my warrior. I did some LS2 on engi and ranger who seem to be having a much easier time with terribly sub-optimal exotics. That is to stay they die a lot less often than my warrior in the same content. I would say on my warrior i average a death every 45 mins of play time. Prolly more like 30 mins. I don't consider myself to be a terrible warrior. But I have no way to judge that because I'm still rockin exotics. What I do know is that with exotics, the warrior requires near-perfect execution on most content. Miss a dodge, its gonna hurt. Multiple mobs, its gonna hurt unless you accelerate your dps; aka burst em down. Get cc'd, it's gonna hurt. Cant cleanse certain conditions. Its gonna hurt. Mobs attacking you at range? Better close the gap or you're gonna get a way-point tax. Champion mobs; fuhgetaboutit; i dont even try unless other players are around to help out. And finally; network lag. That hurts the most. When the game first released Anet promised no end-game gear grind. That was a lie. The game has 3 end game gear grinds. Exotic. Ascended. Legendary. Exotics you can get by doing any pretty much any content. Ascended is a gold grind. Time=Gold/$$$. I haven't a clue about Legendary and never plan on doing a single one of those. And those flying mounts, yeah, those aren't happening for me either, lol, as they are way too expensive. Maybe next year I'll have ascended armor and be in a position to judge if I'm terrible at the warrior or its my exotic gear.
  17. Nah. it cant be any worse than running around in the open world in berserker gear. besides exotic gear is kinda cheap to craft. i have a guardian at 477/500 in armor crafting so i need those points. may as well throw some non damage crafted exotic gear on my warrior to test its performance. if it doesn't do good ill salvage them for mats for ascended. edit: i crafted a set of exotic clerics gear and socketed them with runes of strength. it feels like its performs much better than berserker or mararuder gear in path of fire open world. i still can't kill veteran awakened canids though. their cc is too much. but at least i can get em down to 20% which was hellofa lot better than my other gear. im gonna use this gear for rest of path of fire for further testing.
  18. i cant test these setups cause i don't have ascended gear. i only have exotic. im 75% done unlocking BS and still going through PoF content as a spellbreaker. i'll have ascended gear and BS this December. (have to take a may-sept break because reasons, plus oct-nov to craft ascended gear) i will test these setups at that point but I am highly skeptical they will perfrom as adverstised. edit: if i want an ascended pistol, its going to be jan 2023 before I can test. i cant craft huntsman weapons so i'll prolly have to settle for exotic on it and ascended everything else. it takes to long to solo grind materials for 400-500 crafting. i don't convert gems to gold or vice versa. i don't do trading post. i don't do any organized group content. i have 240 gold saved up from 7 years ago. i restarted a couple months ago with 265 gold but spent 25 gold crafting 2 ascended maces and ascended vendor materials to prep for ascended armor crafting. plus the game dinged me 5ish gold for mounts in PoF and I spent some gold in Hot for runes and sigils. the vendors take more gold than i can make which is why im -25 gold. its a grind.
  19. Maybe i just suck. But I have exotic marauder gear, bersker jewelry and an ascended berserker great sword. I have 80.80% crit when i have 25 stacks of precision and signet of fury. strength/arms/spellbreaker specializations stuff. Given that, it takes 4-6 auto attack hits to kill a level 80 canyon spider in Path of Fire Desolation map. it taks 6-8 auto attacks to kill an awakened mummy. theres no way to auto-attack kill a veteran version of those mobs and often the game will spawn a level 81 mob, multiple of them, to wreck me. One of us is lying. The game right now is actually being merciful. At the moment, I can actually play somewhat casually in joko's domain and basaltic fringe area of desolation map. but i'll bet after an hour or 2 of playing, that canyon spider or mummy will wreck me. Always happens. So I'm either experiencing network/server lag when that happens or the game is kittening with me. so is your mum 1 hitting critters or actual mobs. and if actual mobs. where in the game is she doing this?
  20. I went about halfway through HoT as a berserker in berserker gear. I switched to marauder gear cause it was a lot more forgiving. Towards the end of HoT I would alternate templates between zerker/zerk-gear to spellbreaker/marauder-gear. Solo I used spellbreaker, in groups I used zerker. My spellbreaker went through LS3 and is almost done with PoF. So I'm looking for something else to go through the next content where I will switch to Bladesworn and do EoD. I don't think I'll do cavalier gear, it has power and ferocity. I want to try gear like with healing/toughness/concentration to see how it performs because why not. Gear = Build. Skills and specialization can be easily swapped, depending on the situation. So i don't consider skills to be as much of a factor for how a profession is gonna perform. They're important but not as important as gear. If i had gear that could easily change stats and such, then my warrior would just have one build; the warrior build.
  21. it plays the same in PvE. i don't do PvP or WvW but I feel and understand your frustrations. "Dagger2, Dagger Burst, Shield Bash... they're so cool, you press them and like magnet they connect, like it's coded properly. " eyup. i concur. shield stance is useless. block for 3 secs. thats it!? that's kittening it!? guardian and engineer have better shield skills. kitten! guardian gets 3 skills and engineer gets 4 skills with their shields. WTF!? like what the ever living kitten is that about? sword2 is bugged. no question. sword3 needs a buffer zone (within range, final thrust should connect, in the buffer zone it steps to target then connects - guardians willbender has no problems doing its many versions of final thrust, why does warrior have the problem?) as it is, it should hit like a truck because you have to be in that small hit box to connect; higher risk should give higher reward. but nope, it fizzles way too often. because of these 2 factors, main hand sword is not a viable choice in any game mode. sad. bull's charge is bugged (it overshoots). and a properly designed bull's charge should knock down those between you and your target. when it connects to your target it should knockdown and daze/stun/whathaveyou after your target gets up; to distinguish between those in the way of the target and the target. consective conditions might be op in PvP or WvW, i don't know; i must defer to those with more experience. i know when mobs in PvE hit me with consecutive conditions it's almost always a 1.5-2 silver waypoint tax i pay. kick and bolas, ive tried in pve and they are useless so i'm not surprised they're easily countered in pvp. bolas reads like it should be an awesome skill in pvp. if you can connect a kick in pvp, it should do more than knockback 240. wtf even is that!? i don't want my prey knocked out of range when i worked so hard to get them into range. like wtf!? if you get kicked in the b-a-yalls in real life, that's a black out condition bro. like goodnight, it's sleepytime. magebane tether sometimes doesn't take effect. it says it lasts for 8 sec and in pve, i can get to stage 1 or 2 burst easily within 8 secs. so in theory i should be able to have it on permanently on my target. nope. sometimes the skill works. sometimes it dont. and yes warrior's biggest Achilles heel is their mobility. a warrior that can't move or move quickly may as well not even be on the battlefield. it plays the same way in pve, so people who play warrior in PvP or WvW have my utmost respect. yall are crazy for doing that.
  22. i just wanna try something other than power/prec/ferocity. cavalier gear looks as good an alternate as anything else and im almost finished unlocking bladesworn . i cant craft ascended armor, i need 23 more points. so i may as well try something else in exotic and move closer to ascended armor crafting.
  23. lol. id be offended at that passive-aggressiveness but as a warrior main we cant be passive. we must always be aggressive. im not an expert. after a 7 year absence, ive just been playing this game 8-12 hours 7 days a week since eod release. took a ranger from 0-80 with no boosts even though i have 2 level 80 boosts sitting in the bank. i did that to relearn the game and fall in love with it again. plus it was the only profession (other than revenant) that i never played to 80 when core was the t-its. (warrior feels like its still stuck in core, back when each profession had trade-offs. now only warrior has trade-offs) then i switched over to warriror as a bersker for HoT cause its really my main. ranger in soulbeast spec feels more like a warrior than my warrior. hes tougher in close combat, has range, can pet tank, can condi cleanse easily, has mobility, can do power or condi damage or both. he can do that with a mix and match of unoptimal exotics, sigils, and runes. it outperforms my warrior in the silverwastes so i dont expect too many problems with it in HoT. my warrior is the only one thats been through HoT. then i did LS3 with it. now Im in PoF as a spellbreaker. i have to take a 4-6 months break from this game because reasons, so hopefully I'll remember it still exits in October when i have time to play again. i may forget and come back to this game in a few years, or maybe never, lol. but when/if I get to EoD im definitely gonna try the op's build to see if it really is all that or if my account is lacking in top tier gear. i will know this fall but i suspect my gear needs to be ascended or legendary.
  24. meh. still not impressed. bosses have patterns, so once you learn them they're pretty much binary as in your profession can solo them or not. do the second video on a warrior. then i'll be impressed. the first video is deceptive because the mobs could be tuned down depending on each event. im just going to assume that elementalist has the highest tier gear available and can experiment with it to find optimal play styles. can't do much experimenting when you are stuck in static exotic gear. it would be nice to have the next tier of gear and be able to change their stats on a whim. would also be nice to swap sigils and runes on a whim as well. but when you're poor... (but once a majority of the playerbase has that gear, anet will just make another tier to keep the hamsters on the wheel) a large majority of my warrior deaths are due to a lack of mobility and condi cleanse. i run into every fight now with the quickness buffs from the mounts because it feels like im playing my warrior without being kitten. the mobs will still strip that quickness with a slow condition, but at least im fighting at net 0 for mobility instead of net negative. there's no timing dodges in open world. the code is set up so that any direction you dodge the mob will spawn an aoe condition field(s) at that dodge spot. like the direction i just happened to dodge to always, always, gets hit with an aoe condi field. or the aoe field is too wide to single dodge out of and double dodge takes too much time. way of the road bubbles. warrior is the toughest profession to play solo because it's the weakest when all mechanics are factored in. (its why i main warrior). and warrior can shine in groups but then again so does everyone else.
  25. in openworld? i run this this build, more or less. can get 25 stacks of might easily. also gain health with might. i have 100% crit. and i die to easily to single trash mobs all the time. i have exotic marauder and ascended weapons, jewelry. you cannot survive open world (post core) with just auto attacking. you will go down repeatedly and often with all the conditions mobs will apply. oh. and its a lot harder if you dont have a food buff or utility buf. but even with these, you will still get murdered by 2-3 mobs. the mobs post-core are hyper aggressive and can apply conditions and strip boons easily. oh, and lets not forget, the spawn rate on the mobs are insane. you can be fighting a mob and one just spawns on top of you. people who say open world (post core) is easy are not playing the same game or they always run with a partner or in groups.
