  1. And people since then have been doing it without the 6 virt strat since that was done for the portals not the range but sure keep using that one as your only call point. I mean they were playing it super safe, the fact they had a scourge and druid, for rescues. That should say a lot on the comp design was being used and a well played vindi can actually ignore quite a number of mechanics just like now a well played Chrono support can literally ignore mechanics with multiple aegis vectors and practically unlimited stability. The first beat does not mean that's the only way.
  2. It's a rather baffling statement when you not only just try to downplay or alter what I am saying, and cut out everything, but also try to imply rifle is some how some super weak weapon, by this statement you are implying even weaker than the bow. maybe the major probalby is also the over reliance on the toolkit meta as well since there are huge chunks of the engineer kit that have no place in any game mode. This idea you would be changing the fundamental design of the engineer is just baffling bizarre take that is smacking hard against the line of being pretty close to outrageously disingenuous.
  3. If the page system was restrictive I would agree, but you also forget that the tomes give free buffs as well. You are kind of tunnel visioning your view of things, where toolkits don't give such benefits, and the buttons you want with them aren't exactly on short CDs to begin with. The toolkit benefits are very narrow comparatively, and in many situations some are just slotted just because there is nothing better in the slot, and if it's not doing anything then it's not really helping. Where as a tome if it's not doing anything it's still providing a passive benefit. The more they keep adding weapons the less the excuse of "EnGiNeEr HaS tOoLkItS" is becoming a viable excuse anymore, especially when firebrand has essentially the same things that also provide passive buffing. And let's not even begin to get into how limited toolkits are in their viability these days. And let's not forget that the shortbow has already brought the case, this weapon on its own is no good but if it was a swap weapon it might be useful. I know people try to force that square peg into that round hole in their builds, but frankly the shortbow will never be more viable or provide better utility than mace/shield in its current state. It just won't.
  4. Is this a late april fools joke or something? Vindi is not a good DPS? Power Vindi benches over Condi Virt and thanks to how Vindi works they don't have to spend much time out of melee. Also, I don't think at best a third of the weapons needing a buff constitutes 2/3rds. Just because the weapons were more focused on support and not DPS doesn't make them bad. This idea that Vindicator is inferior is just a bizarre take, especially since the trait people are bemoaning, imperial impact, was not for DPS. Reminding me of someone who was trying to say that herald sucks as boon dps support now and tried to claim renegade was superior.
  5. Not sure what this is arguing. I mean if you want to directly compare and contrast then I would say... Firebrand books then which are toolkits in all their functions and utilities.
  6. I mean you would have a valid point if you were representing accurately what I was saying. Never mind I will heartily disagree with your view of forced movement since the mirage has more movement utility. The dodge is an attack much like a vindicator not it's defensive, and like a vindicator, those movement utilities become the dodge, and not a hindrance. But then again people want a one setup fits all build, and frankly, like any regular to strikes, fractals and raids will tell you, you need to change your traits and utilities around to match the encounter. If we based this on the people that want everything to be just like class X we would end up with a very boring game. But then again this is like people claiming vindicator is now dead because imperial impact doesn't extend boon duration anymore, despite it still being one of the top DPS classes out there, or how someone claiming that pmechanist cannot break 20k.. But people always move the goal posts and create new methods to measure things when something doesn't back it up just for a gotcha. Me, I will still play mirage when I am out solo in world content, and continue to be broken and unplayable apparently, and chrono to heal boon because that's what I enjoy to do when doing metas, strikes, fractals, and raiding.
  7. Yea, what was stated by me since my point was the minority, aka the people posting on this forum, do not represent the said majority. And if you want to know statistics, then roughly 5% of the actual player base of any game visits the official forums. As much as the vocal minority likes to think otherwise, changes aren't made just to "mess with" others enjoyments. And players have a bad habit of thinking of themselves in a vacuum. Terribly so even. Oh they might use placation terms like they are thinking of the newbs, or whatever, but they aren't in the end. Players also have a bad habit of being against change even if said change is for the health of the game, class, or whatever. They will fight it, especially if it gave a significant advantage. Despite that benchmarks show Mirage is still one of the best, most people still continue to say it is unwanted, only because it takes more to work it comparatively, despite it also being more survivable than say a virt. But players are emotional about things and often refuse to look at things outside of their emotions.
  8. Make sure your pet isn't fighting something. If your pet is fighting you will be in combat.
  9. Can these be toned down some? After a while I can't really keep playing due to the sound of the constant ticking tock that is quite overpowering to listen to and the rifle and the gong sound effect it plays with certain powers like 2 and 5. It's exhaustingly tiring to listen to, and I really love playing as support Chrono, since they are now healing power houses that make the chance of being CC'd pretty remote these days in PvE content.
  10. I remember when I heard about the mechanist as the elite spec for engineer I thought the ultimate would be some kind of merge with mech ability and run around like Taimi, or specific tool kit skills in that instance. I certainly would have preferred that over just idle glyphs. Hell it would do a lot if you could merge with the mech underwater instead of it just becoming a once every several seconds boom button. HAM already becomes unusable in water that could have potentially helped there.
  11. I am confused by this one since I literally swapped pets fighting the insect in Auric Basin solo because it died. Maybe check to see if you have your second pet slotted or something?
  12. Scepter is a weapon that seems it was designed for WvW, and that's about it. It might fit a Vindicator, if they had boon support, but guess what. And yes, dual daggers, because having another set of weapons dedicated to melee condition would be nice, a potential ambush build, as well as the fact Revenants have been using a dagger in their art in the background of this forum for a long time now but we've never had access to dagger.
  13. Most assume if you play herald you would be going quick. It varies from class to class but if you go for a non-quick, forsake your survival, you should be able to eek out about another 3k to 5k more DPS so using the snowcrows bench's for quick, a condi herald should bench just under 40k dps. Of course, while snows is good for golem benchmarks under perfect scenarios where you can focus intently on your rotation and nothing else, most players, using the same settings, won't really approach those benchmark numbers, since it requires playing extremely optimally and in same cases taking on some utility choices and weapons that may not fit your play style. In the end take snows with a grain of salt, and there's really only a few adjustments you would need to make for a pure DPS herald build. Most just look at Herald as a walking stat stick, so you might be better served doing something like herald with Shin and Mallyx, for instance, or Shin and Jalis for your DPS burst.
  14. Most encounters are laid back and no, I am not reading tooltips I am reading things like arc. Regen is a huge part of your healing. But majority of encounters in GW2 are laid back and not really in a situation of "Oh crap" and even those that are are still pretty laid back. If regen wasn't a big deal then mechanist would be in huge trouble similar for herald. Regen with protection can amount for large numbers and if you are doing your rotations decently there should be very few moments you are actually doing an "oh crap". And I am talking about fights that typically people rage at like the giant in High Top during the sandstorm stand there and eat every shot and not even stress about it. Regen is a huge part since it ticks every second and in most kits you do not have heal on every move you do. Dwayna is not chosen because it only affects regen over picking something like monk which gives over all healing. Flock is prefered on chrono because it gives barrier since you are likely to use Mantra of Recovery which means you have easy access to using your heal skill regularly, but if you don't use mantra of recovery then it's better to use another relic instead like monk for healing or relic of Karakosa if you use a lot of blast finishers, like mechanists tend to do a lot of. Regeneration is definitely more than the 10% to 15% your suggesting.
  15. No, not that you need to. I mean mechanist is pretty hands off already, but rebinding your keys might help. Attack my target is f1 for me, some bind that to mouse keys, etc.
