I bought path of fire and heart of thorns but I still only have 1 bank tab, 2 equipment templates and 3 build templates. If I want any more I have to buy gems for real life money or grind endlessly in game.

Am I playing lost ark or something? I paid for the game and you're gating me out of quality of life features expecting me to pay even more for them?

If this is the way you treat your customers I'll never buy anything from you again. Because it's bad enough I have to spend all my gold unlocking living seasons that you gave out for free earlier.

Gems can be converted from gold, making everything you do ingame meaningful if your goal is cash shop stuff. There are lots of guides on making gold with many different things. Just watch the gold to gem conversion. I usually try to wait for a 115 gold to 400 gem conversion, but it gets lower than that from time to time (you can also do a custom conversion, if the rate is good, but you don't have enough for 400 gems).

I very much doubt a barrel role on a dragon be something that could be copyrighted or trademarked.  It is just too general of a concept - as are dragons and dragon like critters themselves.  The only things that make the skyscale actually unique is that it can not stay in the air without losing height over time and its annoying habit of clinging to every vertical surface, neither of which appears to be something wow copied.

Didn't someone get the birthday song? I'd not dismiss anything these days. That said, there is no case for something of this nature. If so, GW2 is itself guilty of taking ideas from other MMOs, and games in general. Sharing ideas leads to new ideas. Not sure how good they'll be coming from current Blizzard, but I like the new talent trees, so I'll be giving it a go.

Some players find GW2's mount system too complicated.  They don't want to bind keys and constantly swap between mounts, utilizing a variety of skills and managing endurance bars and cooldowns for best effect.

If you're that sort of player, WoW's system is much better.  You move at the same speed no matter what you do.  There are no endurance bars restricting how far or often you can fly or leap, no aiming leaps or charging bars to change how high you jump, no drifting around corners at high speed or diving in order to move faster, and no reason to switch between mounts except when you want to use one that looks different.  In short, there's no gameplay to it.

It is annoying, but I use the always (for me) unused keypad, with the griffon on ~ as default.

Congrats, you're probably among like 0.001% of players who always saw the primary appeal as being stat swapping. What I said was true, I guess you just think because it doesn't apply to you, I'm somehow wrong lol.

I've been working towards legendary armor, solely for the purpose of being able to stat swap, and try out new builds. If the look is what people want, then why is only .001% of the population using them?

Bitterfrost Frontier = LW3 = Winterberries. I think you wanted to say Bjora Marches?

    -

What can be covered with Bloodstone Fen:
    - Backpack
    - Amulet
    - 2x Rings²

So you are basically left with two accesoires/earrings only. You can cover those either with 2x Mist Talisman³ (sPvP/WvW/Fractals) or use regular single-use stat-select pieces from LW maps.

² If you do not run fractals with that character, you just attune one ring. If you run fractals with that character, you make one ring attuned+infused and one ring only attuned. This extra step is required as ascended rings have a special tooltip called 'unique', which prevents equipping the exact same item twice. A regular ring, an attuned version, an infused version and an attuned+infused version are all considered separate items by the system and can be equiped together.

How to cover that one missing infusion slot? (required) AR is capped at 150. You have 6 slots in your armor, two in your weapons, five from both rings, backpack two (if infused) and earrings two ... sums up to = 17 slots in total. If you equip +9 AR infusions you end up with 153. A little more expensive for once, but the ultimate convenience.

³ The Mist Talisman (earring/accesoire) are not 'unique'. Which means you can equip two at once.

Just make sure to remove any infusions before using Mist Capacitor and Bloodstone Capacitor.

    -
As you can see, you can aquire a full set of stat-swap tinkets + backpack easily. Making every single ascended trinket like that would have surely been the ultimate convenience, but also quite boring. There would be no need to replay any of the content. We do not have any other gear treadmil in the game. There is basically no gear-progression either - exotic works for most of the content.

If you want even less trouble, go for legendary gear. There you can swap stats on demand without worring about upgrades or infusions at all. No additional costs.

Also, laurels. That's how I got my first 2 sets (power and condi) back when I first started playing again just before LS2, and how I've been getting celestial gear recently.

People buy expansions and rejoice over the quality of life improvements. Truth is, it's not "real" quality of life.

People say mounts were the best qol ever. Except that PoF maps were artificially stretched out land to make travel less OP.

The quality of life happens when people take the new stuff from the expansions, and apply them to older content.

    So ya'll love powercreep. Cool.

And those bag slot expansions? Why do you think this game has so much trash loot? To fill your bags up so you buy bag slots.

Except mounts DID make everything easier, since HoT and core world weren't designed around mounts. Also, the maps are similar in size, it was the lack of WPs that made it seem stretching.

Correct! But this post made it clear that most of them don't want a fair reward. And Anet isn't gonna make huge changes if there isn't a demand for it. Big demand only exists(looking at the discussion in this threat) if it is on the level of effort as that amulet. Which wouldn't sit well with a lot of people. When I can get account wide legendary Armor in maybe 40 hours of rather relaxed gameplay, why should I ever bother with ascended again. This makes all acquisition methods for armor irrelevant.

In shorter terms: old legendary armor? Sure maybe for halve the grind of PvP/WvW. It just wont be as easy as the amulet as that was a cash grab to funnel people into the Gem store for LW. QOL progression and Gold is all there is to give in the game as a reward after all.

And as I said, who cares? I'm not talking about the people, or what they want. I'm talking about the company of this game taking a good idea (which came from a bad idea) and making it work.

They don't. I am quoting myself yet again:

But fairness doesn't seem to be the end goal for the loudest part of the pro OW-Legendary armor crowd. WvW is comparable to OW content in effort if you wanna but out minimal effort. They are looking at a 300 Hour grind. Are you willing to disable all your PvE rewards for a PvE Legendary armor track that does take 300 hours to complete?

Good ideas can come from bad ideas. Case and point, helmets exist. Just because people want this easy reward doesn't mean the idea of putting in effort in the OW to earn legendary armor is bad. It's up to the people in charge to make it fair.

That has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I answered to whether it was a bug or not. It's not.

Now if you feel like it should work differently, that's a different matter entirely and has nothing to do with what I was saying.

Daredevil can't activate other skills either, and for what it's worth, changing it to invulnerability will have unintended consequences in pvp as it will prevent point capture.

I would go full energy cheese, and jump around all day, lol.

I feel like you're making up your own definitions here.

This is the third dictionary definition of veteran and the only one that remotely applies here:

"A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity."

So a person who plays Guild Wars 2 in the open world is in fact a Guild Wars 2 veteran.  A person could be a hard core WvW or PvPer and know nothing about raids. They're veterans too.  Veteran means long experience, not necessarily specific experience.

Casuals are people who take a casual approach to things. They don't take things too seriously. They don't try too hard. They're not competitive.  You can have a casual raiding group that just tries to get through stuff, without trying to be efficient (who fails a lot) but they're still casual.

Using terms at cross purposes to how most other people use them doesn't really make conversing about stuff easier.

Right? Veteran refers to the longevity of the experience, while casual describes the actions of that experience. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

After 15 years in World of Warcraft, I had over 300 mounts.  I have been in GW2 for just over a year now.  I really miss my horse mounts.  I love all my GW2 mounts don't get me wrong. But would really love to see a horse mount in the game.  The only one I see that comes near a horse is the Kirin mount.  The Elite one is especially nice.  Any chance that may become a mount in the near future?

I could see a horse skin for the dog, but a new mount wouldn't be worth the effort.

Maybe with cele, but a power build would be kitten for a combo field.

Lol, sorry, that was confusing. I was posting while trying to put my 4 week old to sleep, lol. What I meant to say a power build would be bad with mace just for the combo field. Just quoting myself to clarify.

You can always take Mace as a weapon, which gives you an fire-field on 2

and triple explosion combo finisher on 3

  14. I've been doing something similar, but went marauder, GS/GS, energy/force, with eagle(precision/ferocity/10% strike damage after 50%), alliance/jalis, or alliance/shiro in meta stuff. There is a small bit of downtime after my 4th dive, but nothing using a few GS abilities won't take care of. Keeping up fury with burst give almost 100% crit (98.56) and 212% crit damage (which could be better with berserker gear).

I have mixed feelings on it. I often have to play with the sound off and I read slowly so the old style cut scenes were good for allowing me to focus on dialogue. If a conversation is going on while we're running around I either have to stop what I'm doing to read it or miss parts of it (especially if an NPC is not in front of me so their speech bubbles aren't visible), if it's happening during combat I have to forget about following the dialogue at all and wait until there's a break in the action to re-read it in the chat box, which is not ideal. With the old style cut scenes I could focus on what was being said without all the distractions.

On the other hand they were pretty bad for anything which mixed speech and actions. There's a few times in the personal story where an NPC is attacked, something explodes (or significantly doesn't explode) or something else happens and a lot of the impact is lost because all you see is two people standing there calmly having a conversation.

I think my preference would be a mix of both - if all that's happening during the conversation is characters talking to each other use the old style cut scenes, if it's important to see what's happening or what's around them do the newer in-world style and if facial expressions and actions that can't be conveyed with emotes are important do an actual cut scene.

Yeah, I like that idea. I like the focus of the conversation, and really do miss it in the story, but the action scenes were awkward. Would totally be up for bringing them back every now and then, when appropriate.

  16. That would cause huge balance issues, and completely change a lot of specs. Builds, and meta groups are built around those boons, and all this would do is push more people out of support roles, and into DPS roles. Your fix only removes things, without giving back to those builds centered around providing those buffs. You've also not present any problems, unless different classes bringing different boons/conditions is the problem. In which case, I disagree with homogenization for the sake of inclusion. Not ever class has to excel in every aspect.

I gave this spec a month, but I'm going back to Renegade. Vindicator is slow and boring. I spend most of my time in Dwarf stance with S/S, so I might as well get the benefits of Renegade with it, and add Demon back in.

One thing I found fun was going GS/GS, both with energy runes. Keep up fury with burst, dive ASAP, swap weapon, dive, F2, dive, swap weapon, dive (bursting when needed for fury). It is slower, and that is far from optimal, but I've not needed help doing any of the HPs, and you get to cheese the vindi gimmick, which I find fun. I like to swap builds a lot, so it's nice to have another one to throw into the mix.

I can see your point, I just think that all the current legendary armors look awful though and I personally love anything to do with dragons. It wouldn't be too much different from having to build new legendary weapons every time they release a new set of them though(Keeping in mind that you do have to build five armor pieces as opposed to two weapons). Possibly they could make the mystic forge recipe use the existing legendary armors as the recipe so you're not build an entire set from scratch just altering your currently built set

    6 armor pieces.

I have recently started leveling a rev and only lvl 22 currently. I am wanting some advice and tips for the leveling process would condition or power be best and any tricks would be appreciated.

Power bursts down the low health of enemies way faster, but I enjoyed the condi playstyle, so that's how i leveled. Both are more than good enough for the leveling process, so choose the one you enjoy more, or even just go for the closest style you plan on playing endgame. Forcing yourself to play something you don't like is more harmful to your gaming than playing a lesser spec you enjoy.

This Expac reminds me again that rev level up doesn’t work. Skills are at the end of the training circle so it has to be completed to have a playable build. Can’t be switching to missing utilities at level 80.  Simply move the skills to the start of the circle. Inactive traits will be more forgiving.

I’ve always tome/notary leveled my rev.
Id like to play the game with my bf but he first chose a rev for his first profession and explaining he has to swap weapons and legends and slot in the utilities, and leveling up a legend he doesn’t have equipped doesn’t benefit him, it was all too much for him and he won’t play now. (He would have taken any excuse; rpgs aren’t his thing.). Still, I thought this would be so much easier on a ranger.
Anyway, as you look to expand, and launch on Steam, rev needs a look-in.

I actually enjoyed the leveling this time. It was more than likely just my state of mind on my first trip through EoD, but it felt like I was actually learning to be a new kind of revenant. Honestly, the traits are more important to me than a few missed abilities. There is also the option of using different legends until you max out the new one(s). Shiro/jalis works great (some would say better than alliance, but I enjoy the new stuff).
