yes i get that you are meant to set up combos with your pet. but why make hammer this special weapon? Im assuming the other ranger weapons dont have 9 abilities as well. No other elite spec has a weapon that stands out so much compared to their core weapons.

I mean, rev elite spec gets 6 utilities, and 2 elites. They are trying things, and seeing how we feel about them. Hence the class betas.

The question was not MMORPG specific, remember?

Lol, are you trying to outwit me? I'm just trying to get information. We're obviously talking about games most similar to the one in question (this game), and not the sims. I was genuinely asking if there are any. There's no need to try to spin my words against me.

To rephrase (since I guess asking a question begs for debate), are there any MMORPGs that hand out DLCs for free. So far I have PoE.

    Blasphemous, three free DLC

I mean they did give them away, several times, to people that play the game. I bet if new players continue to play the game, they will get them for free. The issue here is people want free stuff on THEIR terms. Sorry, none of us get to decide when they are free. I will guarantee that some point in the future (more than likely around the end of S6), they will hand them out for free again. If you don't feel like waiting, there is an alternative. It's very entitled to think you (general you, not you personally) get to decide how people will give you their things.

No Mans Sky and Path of Exile for example.

To be fair, PoE is completely F2P with $40-60 cosmetics. THAT doesn't really have a bearing on content releases, but the entire game is free, so it would be weird to charge for DLCs. And the cosmetics show the extent they need to go to make up the money somewhere. It is insane seeing the amount of people with 10+ supporter badges that were $100+, lol (just a side note).

Unlike previous codes, Drop 4 doesn't specify the end date by which you can acquire it. As with previous codes, you're given a lot of time to redeem the code once you've acquired it.

Drop 4 features a Dye Kit Pack, which includes 5 different dye kits. You must redeem the Dye Kit Pack by December 31, 2021; otherwise, it will expire.

Drop 5 will be available October 27th.

Does anyone know if that means Drop 4 ends the 26th., or since they don't give an end date, then does that mean it remains available until December 31st.?

Where can I go to find information of the drops, and how to get them? I never got into anything like that until New World's launch with the Twitch drops, but it was pretty easy. I like easy cosmetics, lol. Even if they aren't that special. I just like options for aesthetic customization.

    imo?

Fractals are designed to be "self-teaching" in a way that dungeons mostly aren't. And they generally are designed around tighter time caps and more interesting mechanics. Also more interesting rewards.

Dungeons often have trivial bosses but throw a pile of enemies or weird obstacles at you (think about the turret stuff in Caduceus' Manor). Optimal play is often just doing a lot of skips, and the skips are punishing when failed but very boring to execute.

On top of everything else? The level scaling makes everything a bit messier. Part of the hardcore-PvE fun of this game is optimizing your gear/build. Raids and Fractals reward that on a per-encounter basis, where you can carefully choose your rotations and utilities to fit the specific encounter mechanics. Dungeons are more like, "This one's level 40 so all your crit numbers are wrong. Sorry, bud."

Also, just as a personal thing? A bunch of dungeon stuff is in tight spaces that don't work that great with the game's camera system. Fractals, Raids, Strikes, story missions, open world, &c., &c., &c. are all much better about not stuffing you in a weird basement that constrains your view super hard.

Gotta say, 7shot in dungeons makes me cry, because there are so many "obstructed" popups on my screen, lol. I do love the dungeon system. New cosmetics can literally breathe life into any aspect of this game, and they know it. ANet is a shark. Never look back. Focus hard on what is in front of you, until it isn't anymore.

I bought Guild Wars 2 when it was first released way back in 2012. It was like $50-60 back then. I played through most of the original release, until shortly before the first expansion pack. I haven't touched the game since.

Recently I've been thinking of returning to the game. After a fiasco with ArenaNet locking my account for "security" reasons, I got back in on my old level 80 warrior and started playing around. I saw that I could get all three expansions, including the upcoming End of Dragons, for $50 which is reasonable.

Then I started digging a little more and learned that the purchase of said "expansion packs" don't include like half the story. I'm a story player; I don't care about multiplayer or PVP or any of that. I play games for the story. But in order to experience the story of this game, I'd have to pay not only the $50 for all three expansions, but another 4,160 gems for Seasons 2-5. That would cost me another $60, because I can't stand farming. And apparently Season 1 isn't available at all.

I'm fine with the core game being free-to-play now; it makes sense given its age. Sucks for people like me who paid full price but still understandable. What I can't conscience is this tactic of selling half the storyline separately from the expansions themselves. I mean seriously? Maybe $110 is reasonable to some people, like brand new players who haven't already invested in the game. But to returning players who have already spent a pretty penny, it's just insulting. Needless to say I won't be playing this game.

Living world was meant to be a once and done thing, like season 1 is. Everyone is lucky to be able to play the seasons after they end. Having the seasons to play is a reward for being a loyal player, and logging on for 1.5 seconds every 3 months. Those stories were handed out for free (and still are if you actually play the game), and the F2P model has solidified that stance. They need money to pay people, there is no sub fee, and I have spent money on gems in years, and still get just about everything I want. Money has to come from somewhere.

Also, brand new players will have tons of content before they reach S2. You actually just missed every single LW episode being handed out for free, one at a time (though S5 is still going through the process). Who knows, maybe it'll just be something they do yearly.

this is where i am going to disagree and will put you again on the original message at page one.

Cheers, its what keep separating the likes of us from the likes of them.

The skins aren't neccessary at all. Want and need are very different things. You want the skins, but they have no bearing on gameplay at all. If you can't manage to create a legendary in 12-18 months, you're doing the wrong things to complete that goal, and that's on you. I can rest easy knowing that's the same mentality the devs have.

Any other possible method or idea that is casual and new player friendly?

Yeah, don't rush. New players don't need the absolute end all, be all gear immediately. They are meant as very long term goals, not something you take care of in a few days. The gear functionality is already on the TP. The skins aren't necessary. No need to make gen 2 BoE.

  10. My favorite race for anything is Sylvari. That said, Asura have some of my favorite animations, from the flips and spins, to the way they run with the GS drawn. I just realized I never finished the Asura storyline (going through rando achievements one day), and I forgot how much I like their movement.

Also, you can never go wrong with a giant Charr or Norn. Really, though, you just need to pick something you're going to enjoy, because I've lost interest in characters simply because I didn't like their aesthetic.

It doesn't feel google-translatey to me. It's way too convoluted for that. It gives me the feel of someone trying to give "clever" hints and suggestions at what they want to say, instead of saying it directly. And just doing it very badly.

Seemed to me like they want a way to be a credit card warrior, especially with that "real life currency" part at the end.

Interesting to see what exactly the "wild magic" buffs does, whatever it's just stat boosting or perhaps changes how some skills function?
Sounds like it will give plenty of CC and heavy dmg from pet, so very much in the spirit of Bunny Thumper as many hoped for?

Afraid it won't give rangers the spec that can make them usefull in zergs, since it seems like the pet very much will still get whiped out.

I don't even care how it performs, I'm going GS/hammer for sure. I'm gonna imagine it will do at very leas okay, and should be decent in open world stuff.

I like to help new player but asking ppl with starter gear are u new seems like an insult maybe... so perhaps a newbi icon can help.

    thank u

Wording is everything. Are you new COULD seem a little rude (not really, but for the conversation). "Have you been playing long" is a good way to find out, while giving you an out of they get offended, by saying something like "I ask lots of people I meet." I think it's all just a matter of conversation. If you just ask, it might seem toxic, since emotion cannot be conveyed through text easily, but talking with people before asking how long they've played blunts the edge a lot. Also, if you whisper someone, and the don't respond, they probably don't want help, but if they do perpetuate the conversation, they may be open to it.

Love the new foefire skins that popped up on Black Lion. Nice work there on those!😍

But now I'm stuck with a frustrating question: do I get the pieces I want now, or do I wait in the hopes of a package turning up that actually gathers all the different pieces, at a better price? How likely is it they will gather the pieces into one package at all? *rips hair*

What do you think? Will they put together a package?

If a helm comes out, I would say there will be a bundle, but until then, I have a feeling they'll be individual sales.

Quick question, generally just curious how people identify classes other players run. Does armor type play a role on how you identify a class or are there other visual cues that take greater precedence? I ask because with outfits existing and gem store armor pieces nowadays all adopting similar visual styles I would think that identifying class by armor is ever increasing by difficulty.

This leads to a second question. If Wardrobe had a drop down tab that gave you the option of selecting weight type (Light, Medium, Heavy) which would then open up the corresponding wardrobe of that weight class would such an option be desirable?

There are just so many things that carry over into all weight classes, it's impossible at time to use appearance to identify classes. Anything from the gem store is useable any any of your characters, outside of the full armor sets, which are very few. Even if you could tell the difference in the armor weight, that still leaves you with 3 possibilities, since the only restriction at that point would be cultural armor. Honestly, it's difficult to see anything past the abilities anyway, lol.

This just shows where your preference lies - style over substance, fashion over gameplay, etc.

You can keep living in your own fantasy world if you want, it doesnt change the undisputable fact there is nothing about the cosmetics in the gemstore that make you more competitive.

No man, you just need to change the definition of words, then it all makes sense.

Judge: I sentence you to 20 yea...

Defendant: Your honor, I swapped the meanings of murder and tickle, sooo...

    Judge:... ... ... you're free to go.

My friend and I roam together in WvW as a party of two, she a power Necro and myself a Mesmer main. We mostly defend home and try to cap objectives. We don't join zergs or follow tags.

When we meet resistance in towers etc my friend is always focused and, while she survives longer than I could hope for, it's become clear that as a Mesmer I just don't have the damage anymore to help dispatch opponents quickly enough. She runs a power Core and I mostly run Power Mirage. One would think that if she is drawing all the fire, I could blow my wad on those enemies freely and mow them down, but the damage simply isn't there. Condi isn't significantly better. I've tried to gear more supportively but then I lose damage potential even more and the support I provide isn't what it used to be.

I am asking roaming Necros here which classes you find complement you best when it comes to small-scale fights and 2-person roaming. What class would make the best partner, capable of both damage and the kind of support a Necro could use? I honestly don't have a good understanding of your class and so I don't know if there are things you benefit from more than others.

I found an old Reddit thread from 4 years ago which focused on PvE, but in that thread it was not recommended to take a Warrior, for example...but I'm not sure why.

I have asked my Necro friend but she knows I have 14k hours on Mesmer and no other classes levelled up, and probably feels like I should just play that which I love. Luckily I don't love it much these days so here I am, open to ideas.

Before I even opened the thread, I was thinking Mes, lol. A mesmer and I (power reaper) held off an entire team at mid (more than likely more than a few bots), while the other 3 kept the other 2 nodes capped. It felt like a good back and forth between us. It helped that we were able to watch for each other, and assist with CC.

Those days are gone. They aren’t coming back. GW2 was never designed to be a WoW-killer and it isn’t going to turn into a WoW-clone at this point.

Honestly, I'm moving away from the WoW style MMO. I'm done with tab targeting, and auto attacking. I have really been enjoying new world, so much that I've gotten way over leveled for my MSQ from leveling all the weapons and skills (though the gear professions are falling behind). That game reminds me a lot of this one in many ways with the combat, exploration (mostly just a beautiful world I feel compelled to see), and the big PvP events (which reminds me more of GW2 than ESO for sure). I think games would do better just trying to be as great as they can be, and not focus on "killing WoW." That's why I love this game so much, too. It just tries to do it's own, GW2 thing, and it isn't like all those clones, and I'll be very excited to explore all the new maps in beautiful Cantha.

I think you confuse people by setting weapons and gear apart from each other. Weapons are gear. What you mean with gear apparently is armor sets. But everything you equip on a character like armor sets, sigils, runes, weapons, backpacks, earrings, rings, and amulet all fall under the header of gear.

Nah, that guy is talking pay to win in this game, where all you're doing is gaining a big convenience. I was speaking of armor, but it's all semantics to the point. Someone could spend a million dollars in this game, and never have an advantage over a person that enjoys playing, and has for years. That's part of the beauty of horizontal progression.

Actually all of those are already used ... except maybe 3 but that is because I have no idea what you are talking about there.

The only problem is that they haven't gone back to update old content.

A lot of that simply comes down to people being willing to actually observe enemies and bothering to remember the attacks and associated cues.

Not everyone wants to engage the game at the same level.

He's talking about for soak mechanics, or something that is meant to get extra attention. Just an arrow over the character's head, pointing down at them while slowly moving up and down. I don't know if GW2 uses anything like that. I've not seen it, or don't remember if I have.

Truly useless flavor items like endless tonics that require 10 items that cost 8.5g each... Cultural armor that costs 20g per piece... 50g for a home instance node of something that has marginal gameplay value... And so many other potentially interesting, but generally pointless and totally optional things I haven't bothered with in the last 9 years, because I'm not interested in "no-lifeing" a game. I'm certainly not going to spend my hard earned real life money on stuff like this. So, it just gets ignored and that's a shame.

I don't play the game every day. I don't even want to play the game every day. When I do play, I don't sit there for hours "grinding" or whatever. I just "do stuff" that I feel like doing for as long as I find it entertaining, because games are entertainment, not jobs or lifestyles.

The price of many mundane purchasable rewards in this game were clearly balanced around either "whales" who convert money to gold and that top 2%-10% of people who spend many hours grinding gold, rather than around the income of the average person who just plays the game. And what's the point of doing this for these mundane things/collections? It's not like they offer the pizazz and convenience of legendary weapons. In fact, most mundane collectables are just that, mundane, bland, and often only serve the purpose checking a box on a list to gain Achievement Points. Congratulations, you spend gold. Quite the "achievement". 😐

Primarily, I spend my real life and in game gold on things that are actually useful, like bank tabs, character slots, infinite tools, etc. I've purchased only five cosmetic items from the gem store in nine years. It took me until this summer to afford the griffon mount and that was after someone randomly gave me 75g for helping others in map chat. I had no problem spending $30 USD on EOD, because EOD will add a huge amount of content to my experience. That's 2400 gems or about 473g. Meanwhile just the tier 3 cultural armor sets cost 595g. Why? They add almost nothing to the game. Totally out of balance.

Grinding, or farming, can be fun. I grind gold. Gold is used for many things, but mostly for converting to gems in my case (and buying some exotic 4 stats on the TP for my alts, since you can do that now, lol). Do you like to PvP? WvW? Meta events? Raids? Strikes? Dungeons? Fractals? World completion? There are many ways to make gold. One of the absolute easiest is just logging on every day for 28 days, and selling your coins, and using the laurels to buy heavy bags, and sell that stuff. I know for me, the DX update allows me to be logged in and get the daily chest in about 60 seconds.

There is a content creator/(newly active) streamer named cellofrag that has many helpful videos for many aspects of the game, and he has the most giveaways of anyone I've ever seen in any game. It wouldn't hurt to check out some of his money-making guides, and maybe some of the people he also recommends. You just need to know what to do to make gold, and cello has a video giving at least one way for every game mode.

Also, halloween bags are bank. Sell them.
