  1. When is ANET going to provide the same rewards based on Heals and Support as they do for kills? It is very difficult to get players to run these comps when there is so little reward for them. Seems like it would be a simple change, but the again I am not a game designer.
  2. That is a valid complaint with most JP's in the game. It was such an issue for the clock tower (Halloween event JP) that a few years ago, Anet turned all other playersin your instance, into floating mist balls. Maybe that would be a solution for this ne as well.
  3. That is kinda my point, for most of this games life, Thieves were considered along the same line as Ranger, Warrior, ect. Gw1 thieves had much more interaction with magic (with Shadow Skills, ect). It is nice to see Anet is at least attempting to bring some of that "Flavor" into GW2. Not to step on toes, but when speaking to most players, new and seasoned, Most don't associate thief with "magic class". They have thief in as the Damage dealing fighters with stealth. Now at least it opens the door to new possible niches for thief mains to try. Just my thoughts.
  4. Was it one of the skill changes after? It has been some time..at least a few years since shadow portal has been introduced. I appreciate your clarification. Either way I hope that the point got across correctly. Maybe Anet is trying to get the Thief back into Raids, Fractals etc.. ( I will go back and correct it, POF was 2017 and the Skill change was in 2019)
  5. I agree with the scepter looking like mostly Melee , yet since I main Ele and the scepter is mid-range for most abilities for that class. Thieves have needed a decent mid-ranged weapon for some time. maybe Anet will slot this weapon as more mid-ranged use. Hopefully they will not have to drop much in the way of damage for support, also. The Tempest, can provide decent damage and support, so there is hope ... I hope the question results in a good outcome, when you asked "How much appealing and effective could it be"
  6. Well judging by the "Confused" reactions, I guess I should clarify my previous post... In 2019 (via an update), One of the new skills on Thief, was the ability to generate a portal ( a magic skill that was only available to the Mesmer class at that time.) Since the thief were not and still are not considered a magic class, it was very unusual for them to get portal. Not a problem, just an observation. Now with this new Elite for the Thief, it appears that they now are getting a trait (Shadow Shroud, similar to Scourge's Shroud) from another magic class (the Necro) again not a problem, just another observation. I think ANET wanted to combine the classes and officially slot the thief in with the magic wielding classes, so that the Thief will be not only DPS, but some support as well. From My observation of the Trailer, I figured that the F1 most likely initiates the "Shadow Shroud" and the F2 most likely applies the Barrier. Assuming that the Barrier will last as long as the Shadow Shroud remains. This leaves the question of how does the Shroud feed, I figure it will consume initiative. Lets just hope that they too are not going to have to rely on elixirs to use skills in the Shadow form. 🙂 The Scepter would be a good choice for thief if is is Condi based and needed some range. Just my humble opinion, Thanks for the time..
  7. Wow such a cleaver thought process here. ANET flipped one letter in the name and weapon (Specter/Scepter) and stolen another skill set from yet another class. I guess the thief lives up to it's name again. Looking forward to seeing what this one plays like.
  8. My question still remains, Why give them access to a weapon that the already have access to? They can conjure a Greatsword, Hammer, Bow and Axe. Why not give them access to weapon swap since most classes have evolved to utilize the "F" skills. (Scourge, Firebrand, Soulbeast, Deadeye, Warrior, Engi, etc...) or at least a useful ranged weapon. (Oh yes I know that the staff exist, with it inability to be viable at close combat..) Give them a rapid firing Shortbow, or a Pistol (as much as I hate that Idea of Pistol). At least the ele won't be locked in to Melee or far Ranged for the entire duration of the encounter. (I do use the scepter also, yet it is the only choice available for mid/close range combat for the Ele and not always Ideal for mob situations; a second choice or weapon swap would be a great option) I think the Orb was a novel Idea, if it was given the right amount of time to utilize, but as usual, this isn't the case.
  9. This game is by far one of, if not the best on the market. Beautiful graphics, Challenging play mode available, good stories, interesting characters....... Yet with that being said, all games can be improved upon. The new Catalyst should have been named (IMO) " The Clunker". I have mained the Ele for over 5 yrs and have been through all the highs and lows, this is by far the lowest point so far. The Energy Mechanic tied in with the heavy lack of any real useful timed skills and the lack of AOE, lead this revision needing revision. Here is another thought, how is that all other classes can swap weapons in Combat, yet the Ele and The Engi seem to have forgot how to do it. Here is a novel Idea, Make the 0 skill (elite) the ability to swap weapons for X seconds. Since most other classes have evolved to benefit from F skills (like Firebrand, Warrior, Rev, Scourge, soulbeast, etc). Oh remind me who is meta again..... Get rid of the ridiculous hammer (that they could trait to conjure themselves before the new spec) or provide them with an actual useful ranged weapon. This round of Elite specs looks like ANET looked at the most unused weapons and said, Build the Elites to make these weapons viable again.. Just my thoughts. (in good fun) I challenge any dev to play the Catalyst in any semi / real challenging game mode, with a non-modified account, and do anything other than call for help in the downed state. (waiting for the video)
