  1. The gazelle should stop when it hits the target, or right behind the target. Not a full bowshot behind the target.
  2. I am willing to pay real money for the pets and other rewards from the Hall of Monuments, instead of being forced to spend GW2 time playing GW1. And I'm far from alone in that regard. Improve pet AI, such my pet isn't running all over the place attracting adds. My pet should always stick close to me, by which I mean the distance to which it comes when I call it, unless it is actually fighting a mob. This includes fixing things like the rock gazelle's charge, which takes it seemingly halfway across the map and out of the fight for several seconds, and the interminable launch time of the fire wyvern. I've been playing a LB/GS bowpet ranger, which is basically how rangers have been envisioned in the entire history of fantasy gaming, in the GW2 open world for over five years. I shouldn't have to abandon my favorite play style, the traditional ranger play style, just because a raid group is counting decimal points on DPS. Make a pass on ranger weapons to bring their DPS up to equality. Out of all my pets, I've probably not used half of them at all in over five years of playing a ranger. Brown bear, fern hound, jungle stalker, tiger, jacaranda, rock gazelle, electric wyvern, bristleback and devourers for range, shark and armored fish underwater; that's pretty much it. All the others only get brought out for novelty value or specific situations. Clearly, a lot of pets need a pass made to make them more useful and/or less redundant. We're long overdue for a dolphin pet. The model already exists in game. Ditto for the other colors of moas, and the "crocodile" scaled drake model from PoF zones. Many other pets that could be added, if only for new looks.
  3. Unfortunately, the "active defenses" in this game are compromised by several things. Massive AOE damage. Which often has too short a lead time to react, is too big an area to escape with a dodge roll, and/or hits a bigger area than its visible footprint. The last is especially annoying; I've been downed too many times by AOE that I wasn't standing in.Combinations of missile reflection (which often turns on without warning) and melee AOE/knockback on the same mob, leaving no effective way to attack without taking damage.
  4. Every class has an effective Power build using Berserker gear, and an effective condition build using Viper gear, with related prefixes that you can substitute some DPS for greater durability. In a way that's good because it keeps things simple for the majority of players, but it kinda sucks in that probably 80% of the gear prefixes in the game aren't used much. True that Viper is locked behind HoT. For core condi players, Rabid, Carrion, and Rampager are inexpensive substitutes easily available in the TP, and Sinister is good if you want to invest the crafting expense in getting it.
  5. I lose the cursor sometimes when the screen gets crowded, like when you have fifty Fashion Wars models piled up on the Kourna meta boss. I think the problem isn't so much the size as the color; it's a neutral tone which disappears easily in a busy background. I'd like to make it stand out more if I could.
  6. Well, my alt got back into the game -- in Rata Sum where she started. Apparently she got reset to her home city, and lost everything she had done during that online session. Then when I tried to start doing my dailies again, she crashed again. So basically, I'm done for the night because I don't want to get all my characters locked out and lose everything I work on. This is not acceptable, ANet. A game this old should not be having such problems anymore.

  8. It's not just story instances. My main got DC'd when he entered his home instance. And one of my alts was doing a daily achieve in Mount Maelstrom, just gathering wood, when she crashed. Both are now locked out and unable to log into the game. "Network Error" when they try to load.

  10. My own ranger is human. His game creation story is that he was given up by his real parents for adoption (the "never looked for his real parents" option) who grew up among commoners (the regular working folk of the Salma District) and was blessed by Melandru. His adopted family (or at least, the NPCs I interpret as being his adopted family) run the inn in the middle of the Salma District. Based on all that, I interpreted his childhood as being spent learning to hunt and forage in Kryta to provide food for the inn; during that process, he did a lot of growing up on his own, with animals and nature for companionship more than people. Hence him being a ranger. As for rifles vs. bows, bows are more friendly for stalking and hunting. You fire a bow, kill your prey, and can immediately move to to find your next target. You fire a rifle, and you just spooked all the prey nearby (or even worse, attracted predators); good luck moving on to that next kill until the critters settle down. Hence the ranger preference for the quiet elegance of bows over big noisy guns.
