I was thinking the exact same thing. There's just so many adding factors to the fact that Swimsuits, and Anet not implementing them, is just more and more mind boggling and illogical.

Again, this is a weird stipulation. Like Gibson said, this is not likely to ever happen to begin with. Some people may rock the outfit in world bosses, most won't, since they like their other outfits. Why does anything need to be done to prevent it - There's no way to prevent 50 people fighting the Shatterer in Magical girl dresses or some absolutely terrible transmute outfit with hideous colors,but that's not an issue apparently. Not even trying to be confrontational, I literally don't get why this divide exists.

Except not, because the actual win would be Anet releasing the Swimsuit Outfit using the designs they've already made, with the assets they have, for the money they could make. Also what is everyone's deal with my poll. It's straight forward, and you have like 5 answers to pick from, it could not be more simple or allow for a wider range of Logical* views.

Pretty much this. I've yet to see an argument against that's not some form of 'I'd just like people to be unhappy because I have social issues or issues I never thought to deal with'. Amount of time? Effort? not wanting the 'aesthetic', is all disproven with Anet's -recent- work, nevermind legacy. Yes, I want swimsuits, but my reasons are rooted in common sense and not spite or some weird idea that somehow introducing to players what is already in the game is coocoo crazy. Though the only thing Gibson got wrong is thus; I've won this thread, every time.

You've said that to me before, and then come back with some odd request like 'show me your marketing data'. Like I just have that laying around - I made a poll, thats what I got, that and yes, common sense. They would sell well and if you could prove to me swimsuits, for the beach, on all character models, would not be worth the hours of work put in to the swimsuits already in game, on other models - Then I will jump off a bridge.

Alright, I sent my sophisticated marketing data to Anet. I can't show you here, NDA and all that.It wasn't hard to put together though, I will say that. A little bit of google, my poll, and common sense. Also 'opinion statement' I mean sure? I guess it is my opinion. The magazine aisle in every store. The concept of going to the beach, also very popular - No 'marketing data' on that, just my own outside experience. Anet's willingness to continue putting up like the Pharaoh's Garb which already border on swimsuits except with jangly bits. The fact that people constantly ask on the forums - Oh, and, of course, my poll? Need more?

ArenaNet is supposed to be a fairly open-minded company, which it should be. It's amazing seeing LGBT representation in-game, and heart-warming. Likewise as has been posted, ArenaNet is no prude when it comes to armours and outfits. The fact remains that not a single argument that has been presented against a Swimsuit Outfit release has been undercut, 99% of the time by ArenaNet themselves. Aside from vague notions of aesthetic philosophy which also don't hold up under scrutiny. I approached this thread with a different mindset, in my view; I'm a role-player and this would be great for that, but 'please give us this outfit because it's fun for role-players' is a fairly easy statement to ignore. Shouldn't be ignored, but it usually is. -Revenue- though, can't be ignored. There's no doubt swimsuits would sell entirely well on the Gemstore. People enjoy the look, the idea of going to a beach and having a fun time with their friends, RP or not. You'll gain in revenue multiple times over the cost of labour for a designer/dev to settle up to touch up models already in-game for the five races. How do I know? Simple math. I don't need to be a Business Wizard, it's not that complicated.

I totally get what you're saying, so what I'm about to say isn't at you but at the devs, in terms of Aesthetic Philosophy - Anet has no leg to friggin stand on. Not a one. 'Beach Warriors' oh right cuz Magical Girl Dresses, Deep Cleavage Winter Dresses, Halloween Costumes, and ridiculously over-bright, glowy, or jangly bit outfits are fine in their 'medieval fantasy game'? That's taking the kitten. As for the age-ratings of countries, I've never seen swimsuits cause issue in FF14 for example, which is Asia, NA, and EU. The fact is, it isn't sexual content. It just isn't. Not even asking for that, just bathing suits. Also on the age-factor, they are -in- the game. So obviously it can't be that. They're already swimsuits, on npc models. Putting them on characters makes no difference except making people happy and getting gemstore revenue. (Again, none of this rant is at you Arachnid, it's at Anet. I appreciate the feedback.)

If it was legal, my mind would be boggled. If it was Aesthetic philosophy, I'd be even -more- boggled. There's absolutely no good reason. No one has yet to give me a good reason that isn't A) Personal preference B) Vague shots in the dark C) Some weird inclination for people to not get something they would like - In which case, seek help.

IO just wish I could know Anet's thinking. Imagine yourself as an individual, at your job, and someone told you 'hey, we need you to do something that you often do at your job, and that's already half done for you' and you say 'oh i can do that' and they say 'and we'll pay you 10x as much as you normally get.' Who in their right mind says no? A bit of a ramble. Basically, swimsuits are the equivalent of Anet finding a thousand dollars just sitting there with a note that says 'you may have me' and Anet is, what, having trouble deciding whether to take it?

No you're absolutely right. The fact is, again, aside from flimsy claims about 'vision' which don't add up, and people having a weird thing about seeing swimsuits in the open world (despite the already present myriad of ridiculous 'combat' outfits, which implies it's more just a contrarian thing) Swimsuits and items alongside it, like everything you just suggested. Anet is basically missing out on revenue to help EoD development for work that's arguably not as much effort as a full magical girl outfit and weapon set.

That's someone's right to think that way. Just like it's mine to say thats entirely weird/untenable in my mind. Like no, I cannot fathom how a swimsuit will 'take someone out of the immersion' compared to - Nevermind outfits, people's normal armor skins and the glowing particle atrocities and the cosplays and the already skimpy armors available. Like to me, it seems contrarian at best to not want swimsuits for aesthetic reasons. Like 'I'd rather people be unhappy then something they like comes in to play that has no effect on me'.

This is the thing that gets me. 'I want them to focus on something else'. The fact is, they have people making outfits/weapon sets. They had someone put in the work for their magical school girl stuff. So clearly it's someone's job to work on that stuff. So. Swimwear. Mind you, stuff like beach chairs and fire-pits and beach-themed weapon sets are all just icing on the cake. They may take more work. What won't is just the simple premise, Faren and Kasmeer swimwear for all races, genders, etc. Everything else? Beachc chair? Icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong, it'd be -great- icing.

I appreciate you guys. It's a bit f hope in a dreary day, and it makes me wonder why things just 'are the way they are'. This is a good thing to have. Is it life making? No, it's a nice quality of life feature in a game that we love, and it's worth trying to bring to Anet's attention, and if people disagree, thats fine. You do you. We want swimsuits, a none ridiculous outfit choice.

Just wanted something nice for people, something easy and something Anet could get revenue off of. It was supposed to be a petition-style letter-a-day. That's all. I had the stupid idea that maybe it'd work. If a mod could lock this thread, or not, whatever works, I don't care anymore.
