I'm still listening to Discord for WvW. They're still spat on, "don't bring anything to the group" every week of every month of every year. Been playing Ranger in GW2 for 8 years. And for the last 5 of those years it's "Ranger's are so useless." "Ranger's can't main." "Ranger's don't bring anything to group play." Of course Anet listens to the guys that go "Ranger's are OP, they need to be nerfed...", and all I can think of is..."Excuse me?" I listen to discord day after day, week after week in WvW channels, and it's ranger's suck, rangers can't do this or that...and then we're called OP, and then we get nerfed? Excuse me? I don't get it. For WvW, we suck, and we're "role specific", and then the few people that say we're OP and our Dmg needs to go down, and our boons for specific Specializations are super max.....I don't see it. I mained Ranger in GW1, and we were considered "meh" in elite missions, and then I'm maining ranger in GW2, and it's this "go roam on the map, or help the team out and play a different class..." how the hell are we OP, if were spat on? Basically Ranger fills a "niche" and that niche is pretty much useless according to some within a large community of players in certain non PvE fields. So my current assessment of ranger is, NO, i'm not happy with the current status of ranger.
It makes more sense when you realize that the community (especially WvW) just plain hates the Ranger class for whatever reason/s
If you complain that Ranger has no role in WvW team comps, they'll tell you to go roam because the Ranger is a "roaming class"
Immediately after this, they'll then go make a post complaining that the Ranger is too good at roaming and needs massive nerfs
It's the same duplicitous kitten you see when you ask Anet to fix Druid so it's not limited to healbot for Raids
"Well it's good in raids" is immediately followed by posts demanding that Anet give us more options for heal roles which would only make the Druid even more irrelevant
I've even see people say we should get rid of Frost Spirit's buff so other healers are more appealing
Rangers being stacked in speedclear meme comps in fractals was something that needed immediate nuke from orbit nerfing but rolling through content with 5 of the same condi cheese class is A-OK 👌- 8

Do you think Maul should be hitting a bit harder?
Yes but people don't think they should need to dodgeroll when fighting a ranger so Anet reduced it to laughable damage because forum warriors cried when a slow, heavily telegraphed attack did big damage to them- 2

yes, all you had to do was deal 16k dmg 3 times over, easy peasy lemon squeezy
If you couldn't do that to an NPC that had no armor values and basically just stood there and caught everything with it's face then I don't know what to tell you

all problems with power offhands in pvp have to do with how LB and GS are overdesigned. they have blocks, invis, damage, CC, utility... everything in 2 weapons. using anything else on a power build massively gimps you.
That just because the rest of our weapons are very poorly designed
just look at torch and dagger oh
How long was torch 4 nothing but a very slow ranged projectile that simply caused some burning to the target? They finally buffed it after years of stagnating and all they did was make it splash an aoe on impact
Dagger 4 has been utterly clunky to use ever since they got rid of the increased range that allowed you to slide to your target, dagger 5 is still too slow to use effectively at range
Axe mh is a ranged weapon but you need to be in melee to get the most out of split blade
Sword is otherwise pretty good but has no spike damage like Maul because they decided it absolutely needed 2 evade skills for some reason- 3

This I will agree on.
There is zero reason to use the WH daze over literally anything else; and yes the fact that the range is smaller than a utility skill while needing to switch an entire weapon set is laughable.
It's actually a nerf to Soulbeast as well because of losing the unblockable aspect. In fact, Ranger now has nothing that is unblockable outside of traps, and literally nothing to grant it. Which is wonderful considering two of the main weapons Ranger uses are bows...
This is one of those times I'd love to know what prompted the change. Like, the patch notes literally say some stuff about Ranger being too mean to PvE bosses and then randomly, at the end, we have this.
I swear, there probably was a meeting with people drawing nonsense on a whiteboard and someone goes 'oh you know what, Warhorns are loud man! It should daze!'; and that's how we got the change.
Because Anet put 0 effort into this patch for the class
They wanted to get rid of Slb stacking because it's only a problem when we do it so they nerfed our damage
They wanted to get rid of pew pew builds so they got rid of one of our "unblockable attacks" sources
They evidently felt a little pity for us so they decided to throw Druid a meaningless bone by putting daze on warhorn assuming "stun in pve = good" as no one uses the weapon outside of healbotting- 2

yes, having immortal pet AI that can kill someone in 1hit was legit, and in no way degenerate o/
same way people defended bird spam that was hitting people for 6k+ each F2 and 4,5k+ with basic attack
DoNt NeRf, JuSt KiLl ThE pEt
Yes ranger has issues and its not all that amazing but lets not forget that it also has some stupid kitten, ancient seed, entangle, jarakanda F2, pet damage, longbow range come to mind.
Ya it was pretty funny how people refused to kill the pet so Anet did it for them by reducing it's damage so much it's no longer used at all in pvp- 5

@Eloc Freidon.5692 said:The cape, great sword, and four eye infusions will all cost an arm and a leg each.
Greatsword is almost certainly Ryland's iced up saw blade sword and probably about as hard to get as the original recipe one
Cape is harder to gauge but I highly doubt it will be worse than the Runic cape was unless Anet does something mindbogglingly dumb and makes it a rare drop from the meta like Drakkar's Hoard
Eye infusions will likely require either long amounts of meta farming in related achievements or cosmically enormous amounts of DRM widgets, possibly both
Plausible they will require respective T3 dragons slayer weapon sets to be completed but hopefully not

@"Excursion.9752" said:Eye Infusions.... That makes me think these will be in a infusion slot. Where the others were Helm skins. My first worry about infusions is the method to obtain them. Most infusions have been tough to get. Hopefully they are more like Deldrimor Stoneskin infusion and not like the Frost legion Infusion.
While I doubt they will be as bad as the frost infusion, expect something as hard as the otter enrichment, if not worse
The cape is unlikely to be the big "farm this 500 times to get this" item while glowing eyes fits the bill perfectly
They're gonna want you to have a reason to do the fight more than once but not scare people away and have them say "screw it, I'll go farm this other content in the same time slot"

@Poormany.4507 said:I'm guessing it will be an instant somewhere in the Shiverpeaks, most likely outside the Eye of the North, as many of us have predicted, based on the terrain similarity , where we've been rallying allies, and as a common meeting point of the three dragons. To me, the mechanics seem to be similar to strike missions where you can join a public or squad instant. Although I do wonder if they would be able to technically pull off opening the Eye of the North as both a hub and as an explorable area portion for a regular world boss type battle simultaneously, but I really doubt this would be easy/feasible to do so.
When they say the Eye, I'm certain they either mean the area outside of it which we can't access because Anet deleted the doors or the interior will be part of the joinable instance while the pseudo-town will remain as is

@keenedge.9675 said:I expect a new map.
We have 4 more mastery points to get and the related experience.
A new map would be a fitting conclusion to the mustering of the forces.
Seems extremely unlikely based on what we saw in the trailer
At best, what we'll get is an instance or more of modified current content similar to what they did with Lake Doric and Bloodtide Coast
It may even be a wholly new area but it's almost certainly going to be a party instance, not an explorable overworld map

@"HotDelirium.7984" said:Gw2 is unfortunately not very cohesive and EOD will be the make or break for them going forward.
It's going to be the more or less end of GW2 at that point anyway
Presumably, we're going to solve the Jormag/Primo problem with IBS and Cantha is almost certainly going to deal with the Water Dragon
At that point we've dealt with them all and Aurene now exists as some hyper powerful, benevolent dragon goddess or decides to put herself into a 10,000 year long coma because she begins to feel her own Elder Dragon hunger
In either case, we've beaten pretty much all the established bad guys and most of what's left of the GW1 baddies along the way
Unless they suddenly decide to throw the "Cooperation Coalition" into the trash and have the races start to war with one another, I'm not sure where the story can go in a satisfying way
The Centaurs are still sort of around I guess but I really don't feel like spending 2-3 years being lectured on how humans are actually the real villains for stealing land from yet another beast race

@Quench.7091 said:They shouldn't show elite spec abilities, unless they got them nailed down already.
Except that they've already shown that they can't dry release balanced specs
Giving us weeks or even months to help them refine design choices is a far better idea than fucking up PvP, WvW, and PvE for 6 months like they did the last two cycles
Even more so now that we're going to get a penalty baked in to each spec this time around (unless you're guardian) which could range from not enough to way too much

@"Kodama.6453" said:as an engineer main, it would really feel terrible to see ranger getting a better shotgun rifle than I have myself, when my class is supposed to be the shotgun user. Especially since engineer's rifle is in a pretty bad spot right now.
And precisely how much did you think us ranger mains enjoyed watching Scrapper become a "must pick" team support in WvW while druid was told to kick bricks?
-
Clearly, the only logical option is to just make zergling players totally invulnerable while they run back to the zerg after dying because they were out of position
Can't be killed by a roaming class if you can't die

@"wolkzel.9706" said:I was using dagger on my soulbeast, because of that I wasn't able to see it. I tried on my thief and swing effects were much more clear. https://imgur.com/a/sptge2D
Dagger weapon trails are mostly pointless on soulbeast
Anet went way overboard with the skill effect trail and it overpowers most built in weapon ones

@Bast.7253 said:Would be pretty silly to spend this long amassing an army of different factions only to not have them play a part in a final showdown. Unless the showdown is just going to be an artsy cinematic showing representatives of the different factions with the commander and Dragon's Watch.
It being glossed over or relegated to a Mass Effect 3 style cinematic sweep is the most likely scenario
All that's for sure is we're supposed to deal with 2 dragons simultaneously in the very near future and it will be a hot mess no matter what happens
Zhaitan was the only one we didn't beat with some deus ex mulligan and that's still generally considered to be the least engaging one

Remember getting very good times back when people first started doing it tbh
The biggest hurdle is that people eat up time on the tree because no one bothers to follow the "red light, green light" mechanic and whiff 50% of their attacks just afk fighting it

I never understand this "but the lore!" argument against ranger rifles
This is pretty much the only class that hinders it's own choices willingly
Anet gave a sword to engineers and they were just "wow, neat!"
Anet could give rifles to elementalists or necros and they would be happy for a new 1200 range weapon, they wouldn't complain that it's not magical enough
I can only assume half of it is some silly pining for Bunny Thumper 2.0 which is never going to be a thing
Hard CC is no longer does damage in pvp and Anet isn't going to make the pet stronger without handicapping the ranger to such an absurd degree that it's near useless against other players due to npc AI limitations
The melee monster that was BT 1.0 is never coming back, especially after what they've done to the greatsword at this point
It didn't even last that long in GW1 before Anet nerfed the hell out of it for making warrior obsolete with their own weapon

@"borgs.6103" said:Did it not occur to you people who think there's a Mystic Coin scarcity problem that a lot of players, more so now than ever before, have faster ways to get the other ingredients of a legendary and that is creating a quicker demand for it?I mean, compare the prices of T6 mats years ago when MCs were cheap. Legendary ingredients just shifted in price. They more or less cost the same throughout the years. (Except the precursors got way cheaper) So same farming time, same cost. Just now, instead of the T6 mats having the bulk of the price, it's them blasted coins because there are a lot more people needing it faster than what the playerbase was used to.
Possible
The other explanation is that people aren't logging in as frequently as they used to meaning that the log in reward calendar isn't completing at the same rate as it did back when we weren't forced to look to DRM's for "new, exciting content"
Demand for legendary's stays relatively the same but supply of coins goes down
My desire for Frostfang might stay the same if I only log in once a week but my coin generation gets cut to 1/7 that of a daily logger
-
The worst part of bad rewards is, not only are they inherently unappealing to go after, they also mean less people are going to do the content to get them, resulting in lower party participation if you did want whats on tap
DRM lfg is already dead in NA primetime
Anyone who wanted the fancy dragon slayer weapons probably already farmed them last cycle and anyone who hasn't is probably better off just soloing the content than waiting for a party to form at this rate
-
Twice now I've witnessed players dropping fake portals both during the spirits phases as well as on the chests at the end of the event themselves
These somehow lead below the map causing the person who enters to drop into the water below and be forced to port all the way back to the Kodan camp and run back to the fight

Broke:
Doing the work and releasing Alliances
Woke:
Not needing to release alliances because you killed WvW for good by reverting to the immediately post-HoT "dragon hunter LB5 spam" meta that nuked the playerbase

@Mighty Cole.7849 said:Typically, when I notice that there is an over abundance of any particular profession running amok, I get the feeling that they are probably OP to some degree.
But that's just my opinion. :)
By that logic, they should be nerfing every class other than Ranger in WvW
Unless we're talking about roaming in which case thief is still first to the chopping block
HOTS had gliding. POF had mounts. What can EOD bring?

The arguments were all variations of "I don't think the game needs this so they shouldn't do it" that this forum loves to slap on any suggestion for something new
Very little breakdowns of how they would have negatively impacted the game's mechanics or social fabric and a whole lot of "this game has waypoints so mounts are redundant and pointless"
