  1. I will have to see how this works in day-to-day gaming but since I'm not an excessive build switcher I should be fine with the amount of free slots. Of course ideally I would have preferred it to be completely free but since it's also a convenience feature I can understand why Anet handles it like bag/bank storage and the like. The number of free stuff seems to be a compromise between covering what most people actually need while not giving too much so that they can still monetise it. I am almost certain that the vast majority of players don't play more than 2-3 different builds on a single character, let alone have complete equipment sets that need to be swapped.
  2. I do wish we had the option to slap him. Not always say, "Aw, it's ok." Remember being able to slap the obnoxious reporter in Mass Effect 2? Yeah, that felt good. Remember when our characters had different personalities? It's been so long... (I realise that it was probably removed for a reason, either due to noodle code or it becoming too complicated to cater to 10 distinct personalities. But I still like the general idea.) Even if it won't have too much influence on the story I would totally be fine if we had more options that would add some nuance and if you don't like a particular character you could react colder and harsher to their shenanigans. (Or, of course, more friendly if you really like them.) These kind of answers still pop up every now and then so I guess a little flavour could still work.
  3. Exactly. Also, I agree let's see where this goes next. The Icebrood Saga was announced as a big Norn story as well, spirits and all, so let's see where this is leading. I don't know who exactly it was but one of the writers liked Braham because there is a lot of potential for development here. And it's true. He's young, he's immature, he's just dealt with a huge personal loss and gotten over it. He's been at his lowest point so there's lots of room for him to grow from these experiences. I don't think anybody needs to like Braham or deem him his favourite character but what they do with him makes a lot of sense from a writer's standpoint.
  4. So all you understood (cherry-picked) from my thread was this part: "and trying to make him seem funny by making him drunk with slurred speech is just desperate and unneeded" (which also states nothing about disliking "drunk people") which you let trigger and offend you, and now you want to claim someone else isn't "paying attention"? O_O I'm not triggered or offended - you just didn't add any criticism of substance. It's a lot of empty ranting. This is incorrect, as you are clearly doing some irrelevant, triggered ranting on your own.lol

  6. OP is ranting a lot but I have a hard time grasping any substantial criticism beyond "I don't like drunk people" which, okay, sure. You don't have to. The point of Braham is that he's a young immature Norn. He had a bad reaction to his mother's death which led to a fall out with our character, he then went off to do his own thing for a while, then came back to help us again and eventually had a chance to deal with his grief which led to a reconciliation with our character. And now that this is dealt with he's letting his hair down for a party. That is all pretty straight forward character development. Even more so in this prologue he's not just getting drunk for the sake of it. He's also the victim of Rangar's scheming. Towards the end it becomes clear that Ryland's mission was to get him drunk and get his bow so that Rangar can set his plan into motion. (To what exact end is not yet clear but the implication being that he wants to subdue or somehow ally with Jormag with the help of Braham's bow.) So it all ties back into the main plot and the purpose is actually not to show what a fun dude Braham is. If that's all you got from the episode you weren't paying attention.
  7. You're automatically put into Action Camera Mode - look for a tiny white spot in the middle of your screen and aim with it at the targets in the sky. Never heard of it... I will look closer next time to see if I can see it. Sure miss the big targeting icons we used to have (like shooting cannons and such).Bedtime now... will try tomorrow. Thanks :) Good luck! I had the same issue like you with the fireworks achievement and it took me ages to remember ACM. Once I found the little dot in the middle to aim at the targets it worked. :D

  9. Yeah, I've been wondering about it since they showed the clip at the event but dismissed the idea cause Bangar looks so young. But now Rytlock says Bangar has been imperator since he was a cub? Uhm okay. I guess either way Bangar is the charr equivalent of the "dermatologists hate him" meme. lol
  10. No doubt, you can experience it as a grind-fest for masteries, that happens if you aren't interested in playing the game, but just want to have the masteries. On the other side, you can play all the event-series and meta-events the HoT maps offers you, and you will never have a problem with the XP, it just comes faster, than your able to acquire mastery points. It's all in your mind! If you experience whole GW2 as grind you likely have no interest in playing GW2. But why do you grind it, if you don't want to play it? Same with the Skyscale collection when it comes to getting those 250 of each currency. It took me like 2-3 days just playing each map and I'm a pretty casual player. Just do map completion, don't forget to get the currencies from the finished hearts, mine every node and open every chest you come across, participate in normal events and do the meta. It's really not that hard. And before anyone complaints like "but the maps are ded!!11" I just did all of this like 2 weeks ago and there was a lot of activity. So I really don't get the problem.
  11. There was no random announcement of gw2 from gw1. It was all explained well in advance. Yeah, GW2 was announced in 2007 - even before GW:EN was released. In fact GW:EN was supposed to be the bridge between GW and GW2. Then they added a few more stories with GW Beyond (much like LW if you will, though not as much as we get now) since GW2 wasn't don't yet. Only ever then GW went into maintenance mode without any substantial updates.
  12. (raises eyebrow) Okay...? I have an ear for voices. If that's a woman, I'll eat my hat. ;) It does sound interestingly (suspiciously?) like Katja Brugger, Eir's German VA, who very much is a woman. Yeah, I think that's her. Or someone that suspiciously sounds jut like her. Her voice has a female timbre, Jormag's voice has a male one. She sounds like she was smoking a lot, a very deep, resonating voice. Jormag has a lighter timbre, but still male. It's female. They probably just pitched it a bit in post to make it sound more "non-binary" as Tom called it in one of his tweets. Please do make a video when you eat your had for us. Thanks! :)
  13. If people would stop with this "no content" nonsense it wouldn't be a moment too soon. Why are people reacting as if everyone at Anet's HQ is sitting around just twiddling their thumbs?!? They are constantly working on future content every day - with 4 fully staffed teams even as we heard yesterday. They just release it as Living World instead of a classic expansion. I mean, sure, so far the expansions gave us some game changers like e-specs, masteries and mounts - but beyond that? LW delivers just about the same content in form of story, maps, weapon and armour sets, and it even expands on the masteries and gives us new mounts and whatnot. Just because parts of the community arbitrary decided that this is somehow "no content" doesn't make it true.
  14. I understand the feels but I've also seen the backside of this. The Dev Ghostcrawler for WoW. I liked the guy, he was actively on the forums, telling us what's up on the forums. But people would sit there and attack him on anything he posted on. Someone could post about a class question and Ghostcrawler would pop in and explain it only to have subsequent posts be people replying to him about things that weren't even about the question. I watched a post about him answering a question about the ghost crab hunter pet, one of the moves it did and was it an easter egg devolve into the thread being locked/deleted because suddenly there was a slew of people going off topic in the thread demanding fixes for pvp, this class needs a nerf, that class needs a buff, etc.I've also seen things lauded over devs heads. I'm on a discord where the devs are active in talking to people and sometimes, it's frustrating seeing someone @ a dev over and over again about a bug even though the dev addressed it in the first @ and explained they were working on it but it isn't gonna be an easy fix. I've watched these devs talk on a stream and then mention something in the discord just to have someone go well that's not what was said on the streaaam and the devs trying to explain that they had limited time to stream and are trying to explain it better. I've watched these devs go from being active and friendly on the discord daily, to commenting here and there to finally appointing volunteer admins for the discord and only talking when something major is up simply because the fanbase stressed them out. Some fans, unfortunately, seem to think that if a dev talks to you, they will always want to talk to you. That kind of stuff had already happened with the GW2 devs, too, let's be real. Whenever there was a time period when they tried to be more communicative the community* would always do their worst to chase them away. Heck, just the other day there were threads about "broken promises" and the like here on this forum and some people still drag out that manifesto video from the launch to complain about Anet not doing what they set out to do. No matter how much or little Anet tells us about their plans it's never enough and often taken wildly out of context with people twisting words and intentions to their liking only to complain about their expectations not having been met later on. It's the same nonsense every time. The problem is people have no idea how much time and effort is put into producing such a game with the resources a small studio like Anet has. So they make all sorts of demands regardless of whether or not it's even possible to implement them. The sheer volume of output in all game modes those people demand is not in any way helpful input for any dev trying to listen to the community*. The result is that Anet mostly only announces new content when it's ready and keeps communication to a minimum and I can't blame them cause anything more doesn't seem to be worth it with the way the community* behaves sometimes. (*not meaning literally everyone but some people are just... ughhh)
  15. This neatly sums up Anet's no win situation right there: If they don't drum up publicity they get endless complaints about staying silent and not communicating and not doing any marketing for their stuff and the game with die because they can't get the word out yadda yadda yadda If they do make a minimum effort with an event such as this where they state what they want to talk about people are immediately jumping on the hype train letting the community's collective hopes and dreams get the better of them and of course in the end everyone is disappointed and complaints about over hype. Damned if you don't, damned if you do.
  16. Yeah, I think it's wise of Anet to reserve new e-specs for expansions or else they'll quickly find themselves in another GW1 situation with a gazillion skills and builds that are impossible to manage, yet alone to properly balance. Like, adding new play styles and skills is literally "been there, done that, wasn't a great idea" for them so I'm all for letting them take it slow with the next batch of specs.
  17. I remember back in the day I was playing Aion and boy THAT was a grind. I never reached max level in that or even finished the story cause there's just so many "Kill 2000 monsters for a meagre reward" quests I'm willing to do. (And apparently it has gotten even worse since they went f2p) GW2 is a walk in the park compared to that so I don't understand the grindfest complaints. I mean, you gotta keep in mind that all the content in GW2 that people call grind was initially designed to be unlocked in a relaxed pace while you play the game and explore the maps and figure out how all the new stuff works. Especially the maps in HoT all have their own story and you're supposed to explore them all to get the full picture. Of course that doesn't work of you're rushing past all of this cause somehow you deemed it not essential to the story even though it's anything but. In other words you're only playing half of the story and then complain you don't get the full rewards for it immediately even though the rewards are designed with the idea that players play the full story.
  18. Going to look for it. Pretty sure I am going to repeat this story on an alt. Thank you Thalimae. You're welcome. You'll have to climb that darn wing a few more times for the collections anyway so good luck!
  19. You can easily get to the top of the wing with a rented Skyscale - when you look on this map -> https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/b/b8/Dragonfall_map.jpg <- it's the one at the bottom of the area marked "The Skein" right next to "Crystal Wing". Mount that one and then fly over to the wing. There's a path outside the wing (west side when you look on the map) that you can go up with your rented mount. (It's the same path @NanoEliteSixSixSix.8935 eventually ends up on when he mines the Mithril at around 12:45min. When the camera pans around at 13:03 you can even see the ledge with the rentable Skyscale.)
  20. I think it's a bit silly to expect ANet to somehow link their release schedule to the ones of other big MMOs just in case their newest expansion sucks so GW2 can reap the glorious reward of disappointed fans migrating to a new game. Heck, I've seen people in the past say that ANet should have a new expansion ready when whatever new hyped game is released just in case it sucks so disappointed players can flock to GW2. ANet would probably have to release 4 expansions every year just to meet those demands. lol
