Revenant Level up - Core and Elite

This Expac reminds me again that rev level up doesn’t work. Skills are at the end of the training circle so it has to be completed to have a playable build. Can’t be switching to missing utilities at level 80.  Simply move the skills to the start of the circle. Inactive traits will be more forgiving.

I’ve always tome/notary leveled my rev.
Id like to play the game with my bf but he first chose a rev for his first profession and explaining he has to swap weapons and legends and slot in the utilities, and leveling up a legend he doesn’t have equipped doesn’t benefit him, it was all too much for him and he won’t play now. (He would have taken any excuse; rpgs aren’t his thing.). Still, I thought this would be so much easier on a ranger.
Anyway, as you look to expand, and launch on Steam, rev needs a look-in.

Maybe give him small guidance and make his own mistakes?  Sounds like he gets overwhelmed quickly.  I find with those kinds of people small bits of information overtime usually works better.  Maybe you can get him to give it another go

theres no real way to “mess up” during leveling for the most part as most things work

I'm really confused about what the problem is here.

So when levelling up any character, utility skill slots unlock  at levels 11, 15, and 19. So you unlock skills before you ever get traits at level 21, that's in line with what you want.

At level 80, with elite specs, hard disagree on the need for utility skills to unlock before traits. HoT kind of tried to do that with them mixed more evenly throughout; PoF and EoD improved this drastically by making sure the first thing you get is a full trait line.

You don't HAVE to use the new legend to benefit from the elite spec. Sure, you lose some synergy, but it's way more of a hinderance for a level 80 to be running round with effectively only 2 specialisations equipped, especially if that means that you're using a legend with no traits designed specifically for it.

Also, with both Renegade and Vindicator, the traits improve or change the profession mechanic (orders for Renegade, dodge for Vindicator) far more than they impact their specific skills, and you have access to those across all legends from the moment you equip the spec.

I actually enjoyed the leveling this time. It was more than likely just my state of mind on my first trip through EoD, but it felt like I was actually learning to be a new kind of revenant. Honestly, the traits are more important to me than a few missed abilities. There is also the option of using different legends until you max out the new one(s). Shiro/jalis works great (some would say better than alliance, but I enjoy the new stuff).
