phaserBanks.7386
Isn't August 28 the 10th Anniversary of Guild Wars 2's release? Anyone want to share their most memorable experiences good or bad? One memorable time for me is when I experienced the original Living World Season 1 when it was originally came out. Bish.8627
For me the one off events, opening of Karka land and the toxic tower. Those were crazy, so many players there, no one having a clue whats going on. I wish they would bring them back once a year as a week long event so newer players can experience them. 3
Katastroff.1045
As a new player i had bought HoT, you know, to get that awsome glider and all. On one of those first time i played, i was with a real life friend. So one day we are in the norn starter zone ( because im still a lowbie)and we're fighting mobs on the edge of a cliff. Once the fight was over, my friend proceeded to jump off the cliff, popped his glider and sailed into the sunset. So in order not to get left behind, i follow him and jumped off the cliff, spammed the spacebar to pop that glider but no go. I fell to my death, splatting body parts all over while pissing myself from laughing. We still talk about that time once in a while even 7 years after my brutal death.🥳 Edited July 31, 2022 by Katastroff.1045
Tambaloneus.6290
I always love the weird stuff too numerous to mention but: The time I scrabbled up to the top of a building in Lion's Arch and there was a tiny stage up there and a player had their toon 'naked' and dancing on it. The time someone got everyone at a world boss fight to put on the apple icon. The ONE TIME I got a key from a mob drop. OH, the time someone set a trap in front of some event enemy who went "DIE!" then the trap went off the NPC faceplanted with this loud cartoon splat sound effect and I fully literally fell off my chair laughing. I for real pass out when I laugh too hard that nearly killed me. Tybalt. (should combine the apple icon map party with a Tybalt tribute and do a yearly thing if you ask me) Finishing chalice of tears the first time. Getting the griffon. Getting the gold scarf from beetle racing. Working on Skyscale currently. The first time I cheesed a vista with the bunny, got to the top of an incredibly high mountain (somewhere in timberline i think) - dismounted off the edge & fell to my death while viewing the vista so I got to watch my own body plummet down the cliff until again I nearly passed out laughing. It's all the dumb little things that keep me going back, sure the plot blah blah big fights okay but it's the little things really make it. Also if someone finds my body next to the computer it's probably going to be this thing's fault. Sorry in advance I guess. 5
Chrysaliss.8720
Most memorable for me was when I was making my first legendary some 9 years ago. Back then only way you could get a precursor was either by drop or by gambling in Mystic Forge. It usualy took around 1k gold worth of mats to get it in MF. Long story short: It took me 60g to get my Spark.
Zok.4956
Become level 80 with my first char and having fun with rifle and flamethrower killing the Karka Queen with a massive bunch of friendly strangers during the "Secret of Southsun" in Southsun Cove. Having a big comunity event / gathering in the old Lions Arch at the evening before the old Lions Arch was destroyed forever. Trying to help citizens escape from Lions Arch when the city was under attack (in episode: Escape from Lion's Arch) Playing the HoT Beta and gliding for the first time in GW2 and having a blast. Yea Karka fest when we defeated the giant karka queen (the one time real one who is still dead and part of the map now). It lagged SUPER bad and I got DCed and couldnt do much, but it was epic. That entire first season felt epic the way it changed maps and reshaped things. The Toxic tower was another that did the same thing. I missed the fall of LA but it was too I guess. Moradorin.6217
Fav things: Doing meta event trains, the world boss rush events, and other things that bring allot of people together to play and chat and have fun without tons of pressure and anger was fun too. Like back when Istan, casino, etc was good on up through till icebrood I guess. tbh I suspect icebrood was fun for allot of people. I was 100% bitter from that point on because of the way Mirage got a strange split mode functionality Particularly bad moment in the last 10 years: I would say was when they gave Mirage 1 dodge in 2 game modes and 2 dodges in the 3rd game mode but left dodge as the defining mechanic of Mirage and just left it like that explaining that it was a new trade-off balance concept. Then they didnt ever give each spec equivalent trade-offs, but rather left some with arguably beneficial trade offs and others with very significant ones. After that I stopped having a real main and over time sorta steadily find myself having less and less interest in playing gw2 overall. Tambaloneus.6290
I think that might be one of the problems I'd had - I have achievements unlocked to say I was there for the fall of LA and I don't remember much about it probably because it only happened once where I've replayed other bits countless times. I remember the vote to rebuild though and the opening of the new LA. I hope the reworking of the LS1 includes seeing those old maps and playing their events again, it might jog some memories. I honestly thought I'd missed LS1 until I found a sonic periscope in one of the replay chapters and it jobbed my memory form the depths. I didn't think I'd played the karka stuff until Oh yeh I remember that Karka Queen fight and the literal hundreds of dead player icons all yelling various memes into the chat. I wonder if we'll get that chapter again too. I remember sitting up on a wall somewhere watching that thing roll entire zergs into dust. Good times. Absolutely was not going to go anywhere near that fight my one main was like in blues because repairs were so expensive then. I'm glad they changed that tbh, armour damage in single player games doesn't bother me but where you need to keep up with a group in real time it's really annoying because if you suck as much as I do you only ever get progressively less useful to a moving zerg if you cant repair easily.
