TalonSilver.7628
Has anyone else noticed that the skiff speeds seem to work like shifting gears in a manual transmission car? For example, from moving from a stopped position, skiff speed 1 actually gets you moving faster initially than skiff speed 3. Am I correct or am I just crazy because I can't find anyone else saying this

Danikat.8537
It wouldn't surprise me if that's intentional. I know Anet tried to make the mounts feel realistic (allowing for the fact that they're not real animals) and I assume they would do the same with skiffs. I don't know if real boats work the same way as cars in this sense, but I also suspect Anet would assume most players would have more experience with cars than boats and used that as a basis for how the skiff should start moving.
Cuks.8241
Turning at lower speed is way faster.
Andur.9275
You are right OP. In first gear the acceleration is the highest but you can't reach top speed, while in third gear you will reach the highest velocity. It's indeed pretty similar to shifting gears in a car.
