Ellon.4316
Anet will never overcome that fear, doesn’t mean we can’t go to the deep. Largos and quaggan have legs which are not the most useful underwater. So I guess you can explain that with a lot of deep underwater caves with air trapped inside of them. Or Anet never addresses the “horrors of the deep” and just leaves it as a mystery or future plot hook. Then when it get’s addressed in 10 years time we get a nice YouTube video about how the evidence was always there 😜.
Eekasqueak.7850
Given the turtle can walk in the bottom of bodies of water they could always add areas where we do the same too.

It's become a bit of a stigma for little reason. The worst (and imo only really bad part) is just the limited selection of skills and traits, and the lack of automatically swapping traits between land and underwater skill sets. That said, EoD introduced a new mechanic that ArenaNet can - and probably will sooner or later - use to give players low-grav normal gameplay underwater. The Siege Turtle underwater walking function - just slap a mastery chain with this ability, and add a mastery button next to the fishing/skiff/waypoint buttons, and there you go... Whether that'll be any fun for combat is anyone's guess, and mine is "no, normal underwater combat will be leagues better".
