  1. That is exactly what is happening. The tldr; nvidia is special. Longer answer has something to do with Wayland and Nvidia having a different way of syncing frames. These issues started in v545 of the Nvidia drivers and all drivers beyond that had the same issue. Easiest fix is using X11 instead of Wayland, you can probably switch this on the login screen of your DE. For gnome click the cog-wheel in the bottom right and select X11/Xorg before login in. Another option could be the mesa-NVK drivers but last time I tried those I had weird framedrops. Some areas would be fine, others the FPS dropped to 5, had nothing to do with player count.
  2. T2, Died in T3 at 15% and couldn't be bothered with trying again. But this is probably a skill issue on my side. Did make some changes to celestial/rampager for this reason. It's still just a quick "this might work" build and nothing more. Chaos/illusion virtuoso was for a brief moment a stronger DPS build then dueling/illusion. Chaos still gives a ton of expertise and 10% extra condi-damage with chaos aura. Don't focus too much on what the meta is. Chaos is still a pretty solid pick for condi damage. But I have to agree with Mevelios that changing virt to be a stronger solo spec just because other specs can solo group content better isn't the right way to go. Imho every class should be able to do everything but not every spec. It would be the same as asking for an heal-alac-reaper build because other specs in the game can play an heal-alac role.
  3. Could always try chaos/illusions/virtuoso with some seraph gear (chaos 2-2-3, illu: 3-3-3, virt: 3-3-3, dagger/torch). Non-optimized first try build sits around 16-17k dps without food/utility/boons. With chaos you get protection/regen/stab/might, take psychic force for 100% fury uptime. Defence comes from stealth of torch and blade renewal for some extra distortion. Not perfect but could solo Mai Trin fractal on it.
  4. I think you are confusing actual heals per second (arc logs this one) and potential heals per second. The last one has been buffed by the recent patch but the first one is “nerfed”. This might sound bad but actually isn’t. For example you can’t heal someone that is at 100% health because there is nothing to heal. No matter your skill or traits you will never exceed 0hps. With the last patch mesmer can consistently apply protection. Meaning everyone takes 33% less damage so there is also 33% less damage to heal which drops your actual heals per second by 33%. This is assuming that before the patch you could keep everyone at 100% health. Heals per second are a nice stat but they only tell half the story.
  5. Just tested it on virtuoso, illusionary inspiration is triggering when summoning pBerserker, pSwordsman, pDisenchanter. And also triggers when the phantasm becomes a clone. This was on a standard power-dps build (dueling replaced with inspiration) so either this is some weird bug that only triggers with certain traits or you missed something in your testing. That traits that "trigger on summon" don't trigger when you cant summon more blades might be annoying but I somewhat get it.
  6. You don’t need to buy the infusions. They all have an ingame counterpart like standing in quicksand in dry top or killing a world boss. The “buy” part is only there if you want to skip these. The only benefit of doing the achievement is unlocking the “A new look” collection which gives a skyscale skin. And the 300 wizard bucks.
  7. It seems the hitbox for the boss (maw of Nourys) in the Amnytas meta event is a bit weird. When stacking near the boss during the burn phase i get quite a lot of "obstructed" messages for ranged attacks. This also affects summoning phantasms which is quite an important part of chrono. Moving back and attacking from ranged seems to be working fine. Tested it a bit during multiple meta runs but it is a bit annoying to validate exactly what is happening because it is just one phase in an event that only triggers once every two hours so i was wondering if other people also noticed the same thing?
  8. Have to agree with Mell here that aegis is isn't the problem. Aegis and stability are pretty much covered by our existing skills and traits. For reference the sources for aegis: Well of precognition Mantra of concentration, also a great source of stab and even in a 600 range! Chaos storm on staff even if it is random pulses aegis Chaos storm can also trigger with Method of madness so we have two sources of this Master of manipulation to give aegis on certain utility skills, competes with method of madness I prefer method of madness in this case, saves us from bringing another type of utility skill Inspiring distortion trait in inspiration This can trigger more often when also traiting signets with blurred inscriptions. Personally i don't think blurred inscriptions and signet of inspiration combo is the way to go. It takes up a utility slot and competes with one of the stronger heal traits. The cost of it is a bit much for what you get. Especially because it only increases boon duration by a flat 3 seconds ignoring concentration etc..
  9. You take strength in numbers trait for a base 50% protection uptime without doing anything, cast mantra of solace a few times and you are at almost 100% uptime. This is disregarding shield, tomes, mace, etc. that can also give protection. Or in the words of people smarter then me: "Heal Quickness Firebrand is a versatile defensive support that provides permanent Quickness, Might, Fury, Protection, and Swiftness." https://hardstuck.gg/gw2/builds/guardian/heal-quickness-firebrand/ Or "Heal Alacrity Druid is a strong, flexible defensive support that provides permanent Alacrity, Regeneration, Protection, Swiftness, Vigor, Fury, and 25 stacks of Might to a subgroup." https://hardstuck.gg/gw2/builds/ranger/heal-alacrity-druid/ And even "Heal Alacrity Mechanist is a defensive support that provides permanent Alacrity, Regeneration, Protection, Fury, Vigor, and 25 stacks of Might" https://hardstuck.gg/gw2/builds/engineer/heal-alacrity-mechanist/ I would love to be wrong but there is a discrepancy between what other supports can bring to the table compared to mesmer. In my opinion ignoring this discrepancy and saying "heal-mesmer is fine" actively hurts heal-mesmer, for example if Anet takes that statement at face value then heal-mesmer will not get the buffs/skill-changes it needs to compete with the existing heal specs.
  10. I would like to see some kind of proof for this, against the golem is fine doesn't have to be a raid. Even with signet of ether to reset the shield phantasm and 100% boon duration i sit around 45% uptime which is less then 100%. Also time to shatter worlds, signet of inspiration isn't affected by boon duration at all. The tooltip lies and even the might duration increase is just 3 seconds. Welcome to mesmer 🙂
  11. Mesmer can heal a lot, the problem is the healing is delayed and all our healing is in a small radius (wells are 240 which is reaper-melee range). The access to protection is practically none-existent so we also need to heal for 33% more then for example firebrand. Sure when it comes to raw numbers mesmer can heal for the same amount as firebrand and even out-heal it. But hps is far from the complete picture, for example power deadeye could do 44K dps before the last balance patch with condi-virtuoso sitting at 38K. Yet everyone ran condi-virtuoso because it was more consistent. With healing this is the same, it’s not just about the raw healing but about the how well you can keep people alive. Firebrand for example is just stronger in that regard, it has good access to protection so it can heal 33% less than mesmer and still be just as effective, their heals are also instant or more instant then the 3 second delay mesmer has and firebrand heals in a way larger area. In short firebrand is just more consistent than mesmer. I’m not saying you can’t clear content with heal-mesmer, more that when a newer player is looking for a heal build mesmer would be one of the last specs I would suggest. It’s a guarantee for a bad time if you don’t fully grok all the limitations. Side note: When talking about heal-virtuoso also know that illusionary inspiration doesn’t trigger when at 5 blades. Sure you can stock blades fast but your healing is limited by the cooldown on your shatters. This also means phantasms only heal once instead of twice when at 5 blades.
  12. With the recent balance patches and changes done to mesmer in general i get the feeling Anet doesn't really grok the pain points of mesmer. Now players "balancing" a game is a recipe for disaster so instead i decided to focus on current bugs/weirdness or inconsistencies in the class without focusing too much on possible solutions. I don't expect Anet to fix everything but some of the feedback consists of adding or removing some text from a tooltip. That should not be too hard. This is coming from a PvE perspective. General bugs and textual weirdness Things that just don't work as they are supposed to work or were the tooltip text can confuse someone unless they actually go out of their way to test in-game how things work. Mind stab (greatsword 3) interrupts skill casting. Normally skill interrupts is only done for defensive skills like a heal/evade or for dazes/stuns. Mind stab doesn't do either yet it interrupts skill casting. This makes power dps builds for mesmer harder then it should be. Sword of decimation (virtuoso utility skill). On June 27, 2023 a patch was released stating the cooldown of this skill was reduced to 18 seconds yet it still is 25 seconds in game. Thousand cuts (virtuoso elite). The "target arrow" for this skill uses a shield icon. Sending thousands of blades isn't really a shield/defense skill. This image could use an update. Phantasmal force (illusions trait), the tooltip in this trait specifies a radius but the might from this trait isn't shared and the distance to the phantasms/clones doesn't matter. This looks like a typo. Delayed reactions (chrono trait), this trait says: "Disabling a foe slows them, disables include stun, daze, ..., and taunt". Yet our only taunt skill (illusionary defender) doesn't trigger this trait. Chronophantasma (chrono trait). In the tooltip it is said that this trait does 100 defiance break. But the daze happens to the phantasms and not the current target. While explained in the tooltip description this could be confusing and easily misinterpreted. Signet of humility (moa signet). This skill does 600 defiance damage yet the tooltip doesn't specify this. Well of precognition (chrono well). It specifies it gives stability in the tooltip but it isn't made clear this stability only applies to the caster. Skills traits that are inconsistent A list of things that technically work as intended but in practice doesn't. Mirror blade (greatsword 2), skill priority is weird. See Well of action (chrono well). This skill would be more useful if for example it pulses might with the final tick adding fury as a bonus. For example well of precognition is a good well in my opinion, the useful things are pulsing with a cherry on top if you stay in the well, there is no loss if you have to move. Well of action is the exact opposite of this where everything is added in the final tick. This makes the boon uptime from this skill highly dependent on how much movement the fight has. Unstable bladestorm (virtuoso shatter). This skills works on condi-virtuoso and only on condi virtuoso. I'd rather have it reverted to a defensive or utility focused shatter instead so it works for all builds. Healing prism (inspiration trait), a 10 second delay between heals means this trait either heals when everyone is fully healed or when you actually need the healing it is on cooldown. It would be better if this is replaced with regeneration or some other heal effect with a short interval. Temporal enchanter (inspiration trait). For null field and feedback it's fine but for portal and especially veil it would be way better if the effects of this trait are triggered when someone interacts with the glamour skill. Veil is just a thin line which makes it annoying and unnecessarily complex to proc this trait with that skill. Illusionary membrane, chaotic persistence (chaos minor traits). Both traits improve our stats when we have regeneration but mesmer doesn't have a single skill that gives regeneration. The closest is renewing oasis trait for mirage or the chaotic transference trait in chaos combined with chaos armor on staff. Also see healing prism from earlier for a potential solution. chaotic tranference (chaos trait). The regeneration you could get from this trait has a 15 second internal cooldown and gives 5 seconds of regeneration. Even with 100% boon duration this is not enough to upkeep self-regeneration via this trait. This internal cooldown seems a bit punishing for what it does, theoretically it could be completely removed because the only other skill mesmer has that grants protection, echo of memory (shield 4), is on a 30 second cooldown. In instanced PvE a healer that provides protection would also provide regeneration so dropping the internal cooldown won't make this trait too strong. Malicious sorcery (illusions trait). Increases the attack speed while wielding a scepter but this speed doesn't stack with quickness. This is especially confusing now that mirage gets quickness on the scepter ambush attack. So effectively this trait is nothing more then a 20% cooldown on scepter skills which is quite underwhelming for a grandmaster trait. all's well that ends well (chrono trait). Does exactly what it says, but as everyone that ever ran heal-chrono in open world knows is that everyone you meet will dodge out of the well before the final tick losing all healing potential this trait has. The same feedback as with all chrono wells, make the important part pulsing and add a small bonus at the end for class-identity. Personal annoyances Things that in my opinion could be better with some suggestions about how they could be improved. blast finishers, With all the ethereal fields we have some chaos aura combo's should be possible but mesmer is lacking blast finishers. We only have 1 that is delayed by 3 seconds. Mind stab or chaos armor are in my opinion good candidates to add the blast finisher effect to. It would solve some problems with support mesmer because with shared chaos aura we can at least give some protection/regeneration, even if it is random. This would also allow us to blast fire-fields to give might just for old times sake. clones and thrash mobs. Especially in fractals and with boon support builds being tied to shatters or clones it's annoying if the clones disappear because that non-veteran mob died in 0.83 seconds. My suggestion would be to rework malicious sorcery (illusions grandmaster) to "Illusions (clones, phantasms) target the nearest enemy when their current target dies". It fits the illusions trait line and even fits the name of the trait.
  13. In the olden days it would always appear over the target enemy but this was changed to be a ground targeted skill. It reflect projectiles both ways. So all enemy projectile hitting the bubble be it from inside or outside are reflected. I dont like that trait, the regen is on a 15 second internal cooldown so even with 100% boon duration you can't keep up regen. The condi damage and expertise are nice on a condi build but this is a full heal build. A 10% DPS increase doesn't do much when you aren't doing damage to begin with. The best thing would be the concentration but with this build you are already sitting on 80% boon duration which is plenty. In short having quicker access to your important skills on staff adds way more value then the buffs you get from regen.
  14. I agree with the above statements that chrono can actually heal pretty decent. Has good access to aegis even if it is a bit random. Even got some additional might in the last patch. For reference this is the build i run at the moment if healing is needed: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PiwAs6ZlNwWYgsG2Je6SttVA-zRRYPBhpGdcnlR1VQ6pgvDAA-e It isn't perfect but works, can be switched to alac if need be. What this build does About 1.2K single target healing (close to firebrand/heal mech) Gives 15 stacks of might Oozes aegis with almost every skill Has a ranged group revive Gives superspeed in small burst (not necessarily from the well but from temporal enchanter trait) Some condi cleanse, could be better but for heavy condi fights you can slot the condi cleanse mantra Thanks to traits has the most stacked skill in the game, people that like to complain about shift signet have never heard of well of eternity (13K+ 5 target heal, cleans condis, gives alac if traited, pulses aegis/resolution/swiftness randomly for 5s, 1s daze, even applies some condis). For me the biggest drawback at the moment for heal/support chrono is the range of the boons/heals. Tides of time, timewarp and seize the moment are 360 radius, healing is 300. Rest is all 240 range, some of these are even delayed. Compare that to quickness herald which has mostly 600 radius for the boons and you can see why people don't consider chrono to be a "meta" healer. In conclusion, in my opinion chrono can do all the things needed for a heal spec but the people saying it can't are also right that heal-chrono isn't the best option. Luckily things like boon radius is something that can easily be fixed/tweaked without redesigning chrono. Also if the boons/healing from wells becomes pulsing instead of on the final tick you end up with a pretty strong support spec.
  15. Just an opinion when it comes to alac/quick chrono. The advantage for me when playing quick-chrono instead of alacrity is that the utility skills are free to take the utility that is needed. With alac chrono you must run wells to upkeep alac.
  16. Yes, sure there are other specs that are better for some things then chrono but when pugging for fractals/raids/strikes nobody cares as long as you provide alac or quickness. A chrono using seize the moment (quickness on shatter) with some defensive utilities like well of precognition or mantra of concentration and of course shield for even more quickness might mean you aren't top of the DPS chart but you take some responsibility of the healer with the defensive boons (stab and aegis). Staying alive is still the best DPS increase in the game. As a side note, when people say chrono isn't a good support they just mean it isn't best in slot. But having something that does 80% of the best in slot class is still more then capable. Plus player skill is also a factor, a good chrono support will outperform a crappy firebrand even though firebrand is considered better.
  17. These DPS numbers are a bit low, are you testing with all boons and crit-capping? Boons easily 2x your DPS and crit-capping means getting to 75% crit-chance on chrono and 60% on virtuoso, the last 25/40% you get from the fury boon, virtuoso has the quiet intensity trait that makes fury more effective so that is where the crit-chance difference comes from. Personal recommendation would be to start with virtuoso instead of chrono. The rotation for power-virtuoso is quite similar to chrono but more forgiving. For example you don't have to worry about interrupting the auto-attack chain of sword and less skills that interrupt other skills. What really helped me is to time the rotation around your phantasms. What you then get is dagger/sword loop: Sword phantasm -> press buttons till sword phantasm is off cooldown -> sword phantasm and weapon swap greatsword loop: Phantasmal berserker -> ether signet -> phantasmal berserker -> press more buttons -> phantasmal berserker and weapon swap This should get you to 25-30k DPS (assuming gear and traits are in order), the rest of the DPS is just optimizing the rotation and pressing buttons faster. The chrono rotation can also be times around your phantasms in the same way. There is an easy mistake to make with both chrono and virtuoso and that is interrupting your phantasm skills. For example ether signet will interrupt whatever you are doing. So when casting phantasmal berserker and immediately pressing ether signet you will interrupt the phantasm summon losing a big chunk of DPS. Same goes for Greatsword 3 (mind stab) for some reason Sword 2 (blurred frenzy) <-- only relevant when playing chrono
  18. Even if so then this trait is still "bugged" in my opinion. At least it is really bad UX, as pointed out by Virtuality phantasmal mage procs it. So why do interrupt traits trigger when a phantasm does the interrupt and not the mesmer? If it is by design that phantasmal defender doesn't trigger this trait then at least remove the reference to "taunt" from the trait. Mesmer have exactly one taunt and that is with phantasmal defender so removing "taunt" from the description would remove a lot confusion.
  19. Just for reference, watched back the stream to get some more info about mantra's. The cooldowns outside of recharge rate are quite interesting. Didn't check if the heal/damage numbers changed Mantra of recovery (heal), 10s cooldown. 20s count recharge Mantra of resolve (condi cleanse), 20s cooldown. 24s count recharge Mantra of concentration (stab), 15s cooldown. 45s count recharge. Channel gives 4stack of stability for 5s and 5s of aegis Mantra of distraction (cc), 12s cooldown. 24s count recharge Mantra of pain (dps), 1s !!! cooldown. 10s count recharge. Channel gives 8 stacks of might for 5 seconds This actually makes mantra of pain and concentration pretty big for boon supports.
  20. PvE, and agree that aegis is always nice to have. For me the change just doesn't make sense thematically.
  21. > Master of Manipulation: This trait no longer reduces the recharge of manipulation skills, and it now grants aegis to nearby allies instead of superspeed. > Protected Phantasms: This trait has been replaced by Temporal Enchanter. Temporal Enchanter causes glamour skills to grant superspeed and resistance to allies in the area and increases glamour durations by 1 second. I have trouble placing these changes, i don't get why a stationary AoE glamours should give superspeed while the more instant cast skills of manipulation now give aegis. When i want to escape with blink or mass-invis superspeed is nice, when bunkering down with some stationary glamour skill i probably want aegis. 😕 Also master of manipulation now competes with method of madness for providing aegis (k, method of madness is random). On a brighter note, cooldowns and chrono changes seem nice. Also got more changes then the last few balance patches combined so stuff is happening.
  22. PvP noob here, virtuoso is “special”, either you start strong with the shatter. Or more often then not the enemy is paying attention and you one-shot yourself because of reflects. At least that’s my experience. Even in PvE I’m running 6 different Mesmer builds and virtuoso ain’t one of them. Now back on topic, I’ve been lurking this topic for a while and see some comments about just a few Mesmer mains responding. It’s not that I don’t support the second dodge or anything, I find it just as strange as the PvP players. It’s more that as previously stated my experience in PvP is just limited at best. So saying Anet should fix this would just be me parroting the arguments from this thread without clear understanding. My hope is that Mesmer will get a more dedicated balance patch. Looking at previous patches Anet is focusing one or two specs each time for the bigger changes and I hope Mesmer is next, instead of just some small damage tweaks here and there. Those feel like Anet is just balancing around the snowcrows benchmark instead of looking at the bigger issues like: - Lack of crit-chance for non-virtuoso specs - Almost no access to regen for the chaos traitline - Lack of a clear support-oriented spec (this is mostly based on the boons, chrono/mirage can heal but the defensive boons are lacking) - Second dodge for mirage of course - etc.
  23. Anet will never overcome that fear, doesn’t mean we can’t go to the deep. Largos and quaggan have legs which are not the most useful underwater. So I guess you can explain that with a lot of deep underwater caves with air trapped inside of them. Or Anet never addresses the “horrors of the deep” and just leaves it as a mystery or future plot hook. Then when it get’s addressed in 10 years time we get a nice YouTube video about how the evidence was always there 😜.
  24. It’s not that you are not allowed to ask questions. More so that not everyone knows everything. For example your infusion question, I think most are daily only but it is safer to point to the wiki for precise info. Rather point someone to information then give false information. No matter what you do or how you play someone somewhere will think you are doing it wrong. If you are having fun (without ruining the fun of others) then you’re playing correctly.
  25. Could try to argue but you clearly know quite a bit more then I do about GW-lore 😉. For me the biggest thing is that this theory gives is a way for some big-bad connected to the mist to be a possibility going forward with the story. Something that, at least to me, sounds more interesting than killing yet another dragon(minion).
