In squad content, not be able to portal all your team is problematic. It can only portal 5 peoples instead of 20. The other issue is you cannot go back inside again like Portal and Sand Swell. If devs wants to make some support thief builds competitive in PvE, they need to look at it. I am thinking about Harvest Temple CM, Qadim 1, Escort Tower (Wing 3) where mesmer is required systematically or is very strong. 2 5 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ArcanistSeven.8720 Posted June 17, 2023 Share Posted June 17, 2023 shadow portal breaks if you try to use it out of range it drops the portal on the ground but you cant interact with it and says its out of range so when you do get in range and use it it just goes on cd with no portal. i honestly hate preparations they are just less fun than traps. If you recall, traps were removed because trapper runes were introduced and instead of, iunno, remove trapper runes like they did for portable cannons and repair siege or maybe rework it so it doesn't give stealth. Nope. They removed traps from thief because... Well it's thief, right? And stealth is a "source of frustrating game play in pvp and wvw", right? But only on thief, right? I don't think you even need more than 5 people to cap escort towers. Making it two ways would probably a good and reasonable improvement though. Makes me want to use crappy Well of Sorrows instead, just to skip it. Not even Alacrity helps make it more bareable. I wish they'd at least remove the delay in PvE completely. Also I can't even kill a Dragon/Thief Hunter in PvP anymore unless they're personally really bad. Stealth, Reveal Spear with god-like mechanics that can't be avoided and technically the hardest hitting CC in game because of how it combos with no counterplay, High damage insta-traps that also CC you and punish for trying to exit them, a bow that hits for 11k+ on a short CD on full toughness armor, invulnerability heal and block spam, etc. Like most Thief things Shadow Portal was designed entirely around PvP which is why it's much weaker and was probably done before they started splitting things. It could be split to carry more people in PvE and imo both modes should allow 1 re-entry per person. Also needs to be more visible to allies cuz 90% of the time it's ignored if you don't say something in chat and still ignored 60% of the time~ they either don't see it or know it doesn't allow re-entry and scared it may go somewhere they don't wanna go. SoftFootpaws.9134 Posted June 24, 2023 Share Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) the biggest problem i have with it is whenever i put it down, players say "i didn't see it". its almost completely invisible for some reason, especially on dark terrain, whereas the mesmer portal is a huge glowing lightshow with a loud and distinct sound to accompany it.
