Crash at start of "Hell Breaks Loose"

Me too.  Tried it a dozen times now, after doing repair on the download, and lowering the settings.  Crashes every time.  Assert on rectangle.  What sucks is I only got SotO today because they made the new Living Worlds only unlock if you own SotO.  And then of course, the dailies gave me two objectives in Horn of Maguma.  So even though I didn't want to start SotO yet, I did to unlock the zone.  And low and behold, I can't, cause it crashes.  Thanks.

I have the same problem. First playthrough.
The game reaches a critical error as soon as a cinematic starts playing right after the loading screen that I see upon crossing the portal for Hell Breaks Loose: ???

I've restarted the game and attempted to complete that step three times, cannot get past it.

Same issue here, having this on an AMD Radeon 7900XTX for the record.

Keeps happening, another player in game also whisped to me about the issue. This hard locks progression in the expansion.

I don't use ArcDPS, so this is certainly not causing it.

The error that - for the record - keeps popping up (sent to ArenaNet, only top for reference for other players):

Experiencing the same with the chapter "All Hell Breaks Loose: ???" after entering the "portal/black hole thing". => Game freezes in the cutscene instantly, with music still playing in the background and crashreport popping up.

Tried:
- Settings from High to Low
- Window to Fullscreen mode
- Starting as Administrator
- Updating Drivers
- Repearing GW2
- Reinstalling GW2 without any addons
- Underclocking and overclocking RAM & GPU

Nothing worked for now, will do a few more tests.

What a bummer.. Let me know if you guys found anything helpful.

Further update, I also experience crashes when I try to do "Outreach" and talk to the fisher to get to Aurene's Cave. Once the loading screen finishes, I instantly crash with the same information:

I found a solution that worked for me to play the chapter "Hell breaks Lose: ???" without it crashing.

What I did:
1. Clean Install on Guild Wars 2  without any addons
2. Close every Programm on your PC that you dont need! (Steam, Discord, Teamspeak etc.)
3. Start game as administrator
4. Change Settings Ingame:
  - Graphic Options:
     - Settings preset: Best performance
     - Frame Limiter: set to 30 FPS
     - Resolution: set to lowest 1024 x 763
  - Audio:
     - Mute music

You can try the settings without reinstalling first to see if the settings work on its own.

I hope it works for some of you too!

Had the same problem for the story mission 10 "Treachery", the MathRectIsValid() function crashed my game everytime. I tried to repair gw2 and lower my settings but it didnt work.

Tried again today with the solution from CruserKay.9548 and it did work. Guess the running as administrator part is important. Also do not try the change the settings back during the mission; it crashed for me soon after.

EDIT: Nevermind it crashes during the mission soon after anyway.

I'm having multiple story chapters crash since the latest patch. The Only One will crash right as the extractor explodes right at the start of the instance. Used auto detect settings (most are set to medium/high).

Did it again with lowest settings, crashed again.

This patch just straight up killed some story instances huh 😓

This is very disappointing.  Purchased SotO two days ago, and this crash is still blocking progression.  Does any one know if they are trying to fix it?  From what people have said, this rect assert is breaking plenty more content than just the start of Hell Breaks Loose.
