Map Progression locked behind events

Recommended Posts

Hey, you think you guys can stop locking POI's behind events? Been waiting to get full map completion in Amnytas for literal weeks because I can't sit on the game staring at some stupid barrier for hours on end waiting for a single area to unlock because of a random event that I'll miss if I'm not in the area when it pops. Feels especially crappy knowing that anyone with a teleport can cheese their way in there without the event, and I'm a ranger, so I guess it sucks to be me. Really don't understand the design mentality behind that crap, especially when you know that literally no one likes the system. This is shown by how there's guides on how to cheese the system on the literal wiki of the game.

EDIT: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Erudition_Arcade this is the POI in question

Is this for the Great Debate Hall? In that case, I'd recommend doing the event. It starts by the waypoint by the bastion. It requires five players to start, but tagging up or announcing in the map chat should be enough to get the folks needed to get the event started. It's a fun event chain to boot.

I think this is probably the Arcane Cellar, Isgarren's place.  I did two Amnytas completions last night and called out the event in Map when it spawned, and I think it only took two or three minutes each time from my arrival to Uenno starting her speech.  I don't know how a teleport would help; the wiki cheese talks about using skyscale dash + dismount but any time I try that I get bounced back hard.

That does make two pois in the map reachable only through events, and that is quite annoying when you must do 18 completions for the armor (either on 18 alts or one alt remapping via lantern lighting, either way you have to get into those two places).

Don't forget the one in tarir locked behind an event at southwatch, the lab poi in kourna locked behind an escort, another in nayos also locked behind an escort and another locked behind the meta in the same map.
It really is an incredibly annoying habit that I wish they'd drop.

Those are all bad, I agree.  But since I've been completing a lot I've learned that the Nayos poi that seems only accessible via the meta can in fact be tagged by dropping down to it on a skyscale.  I found out by accident.  I'd internalized it needing the meta but was coming at it from a different angle (from the north, I think), didn't realize what poi it was, went down to it, then realized and rejoiced.

This is from the link you posted, it gives three ways to complete the poi you spent weeks trying to get.

Option 1: To get this Point of Interest you can make use of Skyscale's Dash skill + Bond of Faith right by the edge of the entrance that is on the lowest level of map (go North with Skyscale or Griffon) search for a open area which leads into this building. It is blocked by a blue Magical Barrier that is close to the POI. By using this combination of Dash and Bond of Faith you will get POI even when Barrier active and event haven't taken Barrier down in Option 2.

Option 2: Requires Navigate Isgarren's wards event to open.

Option 3: Using a teleport or shadowstep skill into the room will grant you the POI before teleporting you out.
