  1. I can't implement them, for I'm not Anet. But maybe they'll give you a portal device. I don't see what's bad about that, I can still refuse to use it and run the puzzles myself. And if I see you along the way, maybe I'll give you a portal without you asking. Feel free to ignore it though. I find it odd that G2 legendaries aren't tradable but the G1 and G3 legendaries are, so sure, whatever. Stick 'em on the TP. I'm not sure what PvP gizmo you're referring to so I can't speak to that. And I assume you're already American, so Anet doesn't need to do anything here. Oh, and for your social anxiety... *Spongebob voice* well, good luck with that.
  2. Actually better than I had hoped for. My other real good option was "eventually make nine friends to play raids with" but that's low on the list. (Doesn't help the friends I do have are currently busy with other things and other games.) I was really expecting something like this for legendary open world armour: Anet: "Oh you want a grind?" *cracks knuckles*
  3. A lot of what you said can already be bought with gold though. "Just one more thing" already happened in some ways. Nobody cares about your or mine or anyone else's accomplishments in a video game. You should care about yours, if you desire, but why should you care about mine or Joe Smith's? It's a game. A lot of things can be bought already via Gem Shop, in the sense of "swipe card, convert gems to gold, go shopping," including most completed legendary weapons, and your precious confetti, as well as carries through raids (make your ring or Envoy armour for the low, low price of...) and other things I'm sure. GoB and GoE have finite use, so why not allow players to sell them if they desire? If I want, I can roll a dozen alts and do map completion, but I have no use for GoE, so they'll just rot in my bank I guess? Why not reward my hard work? (I'm sorry, "hard work," it's just a few hours grinding in a game anyway.) As for your 1k gold... well, go for it. It'll just shuffle the market around a bit and then everything will stabilize after based on the 1k gold influx everyone got.
  4. Anet has already shown precedent for removing grind in favour of providing QoL improvements for some items via the WV (Legendary Starter Kit namely, which is pretty big IMO, skipping a bunch of "questing" and all). What's one more in the same vein? Or should they remove several things in the WV because they're all obtainable through other ingame means? Should Transmutation Charges be removed? Gold? Vision Crystals? Crafting Bags? They're all so easy to get, just like Gift of Battle and Gift of Exploration! Just go play the content! Only takes a few hours! Oh, and "my American friend," if you need help with a jumping puzzle, I'll gladly provide you a portal.
  5. Yup! Sure, killed the big one to show proof to Nesingwary (he'd always want the horns or whatever), but my hunter would only kill said big one for the meat otherwise, and just sorta... lie his way through having not actually slaughtered thirty others of the species. Responsible hunters don't kill the whole herd, Nesingwary. *shakes head*
  6. Additionally I'm all for head-canon land. Don't necessarily love something in game? Maybe you can sort of "think" your way around it. I mentioned my mesmer preferring his non-booze options earlier, but additionally, I don't think he actually kills as much stuff as the game has us believe we do. I imagine a lot of his interactions with not-so-friendlies often results in them getting knocked out or whatever to await authorities to pick them up rather than having them killed. (Bandits and such for example.) I also like to avoid combat where I can. Mesmers can make themselves invisible and use illusions to trick people into thinking things are or aren't real, so shouldn't be toooo hard to slip past those guards over there... But the game had me kill them because that's what's programmed, right? Sometimes, you need to get creative if there's parts of the game you don't love but still want to play it.
  7. This is actually a good idea. Whoever "player 1" is would have to interact with such objects in order to continue the story. Your purpose as "player 2" is to help with the combat.
  8. No that can't be it, else all puppies are outlaws. ...Wait maybe you're on to something.
  9. Now I want to know what puppy laws exist that this particular puppy broke, or why the llama is "lavish?" And why are llamas so rare in Tyria? I want the generic creature lore.
  10. For OP and anyone else trying to avoid story spoilers, this isn't a story spoiler. It's a semi-sarcastic, yet valid post.
  11. Did some quick math for fun on the ectos yesterday. One whole set of Obsidian gear needs 3600 ectos. Want to make all three sets? 10 800 ectos. This assumes you aren't crafting Ascended gear to turn to Research Notes or salvage for Balls of Dark Energy as well. Anyway, working as intended. And it'll be a while before I start collecting ectos for something else I guess lol Edit: ***This wasn't a complaint on my part.***
  12. Re: Medhi's grog: I recall all we did here was collect ingredients that he used to make the brew, which was given to another party. Our character hasn't had to drink alcohol since the personal story I do believe (and even then it's only in some story paths, as OP notes). Any other instance I can think of where my character might have held a mug it wasn't mentioned what was in the mug, so I always head-canoned that he had juice lol
  13. How about some more butt skirts? Uhh, meaning just... more skirts? lol
  14. This is precisely why I used """quotation marks""" around the word "forced." I am fully aware of that and have even stated at the end of my post that I can stick with my Ascended weapons. But as it is right now, I have two options for legendary weapons: pay big chunks of gold for them off the trading post, or do WvW. Which is "forcing" me into WvW if I feel the need to complete those weapons, if paying big chunks of gold outright isn't interesting.
  15. I agree that being "forced" to play a gameplay mode one doesn't enjoy just to get the most out of their gameplay experience otherwise isn't fun. Competitive players may find map completion for Gifts of Exploration boring, and those who prefer PvE may dislike WvW/PvP for any number of reasons. (Personally I don't like getting attacked by other players while minding my own business. I also don't like the thought of me being the person "clogging up" the WvW queue while I go around escorting dolyaks for hours on end while someone who actually enjoys WvW is stuck waiting for me, or someone like me, to leave WvW already and let them in.) One solution I've seen tossed around, and I agree with it, is to implement these as rewards via Wizard's Vault. I've done a bit of thinking about this in particular and I'd like to propose this: Create a "pick" item available via Wizard's Vault for 1000 Astral Acclaim (adjust as necessary, but I think a fairly high cost is valid). This pick item allows players to select one of either Gift of Battle or Gift of Exploration. Other similar items could also be implemented into this pick item, if appropriate. Limit availability to one per Wizard's Vault rotation. Therefore, players can buy either one Gift of Battle or one Gift of Exploration, but not both. This enables meaningful player choice and still keeps players in either game mode, performing the afformentioned tasks of completing a Gift of Battle reward track or doing map completion, but helps ease the pain a bit for those who would much rather avoid game modes they may not enjoy. Additionally, this helps eliminate the need for an alt for an additional Gift of Exploration, if desired (though again, players will have to choose between this or Gift of Battle). In the meantime, I will still be using my Ascended weapons. But to see something like the above implemented could mean I could make effective effort on certain weapon achievements that I'd rather complete myself.
  16. I love the tail sleeve thing! Always great to see these sorts of little details. (Pun not intended but I'm sticking with it. 😄)
  17. Ooh let's get /sipdrink to go with this one. Character pulls out a coconut with the little umbrella in it. 😄
  18. Honestly hoping for character model updates first - update the texture resolution and polygon counts, maybe minimal animation work where needed (charr tails perhaps) - and then maybe update old armour sets afterward. I'm all for keeping this game looking the best ever.
  19. The kitty that follows my mesmer around is named Abyss, but nobody really needs to know that because I know that. I can tell you that in WoW the mini-pets are nameable, but few people do it. Might not be worth implementing, even for why you mentioned.
  20. I love them and I want them IRL lol Requesting a hooded sweater to go with them. 😄
  21. I like the idea of being able to trade x amount of Mithril Ore or Orichalcum Ore (or whatever else) for y Research Notes, but if you're into whatever's most economically viable, then you can still craft that or (or whatever else) into things to deconstruct for Research Notes. Kind of like going to the super market and buying a premade meal versus making your own. Sure, you can buy the tomatoes, the pasta, the seasonings, etc., and throw together a healthy spaghetti dish, but there's also a premade one that's pretty good at the market for a bit more. In the end, you still get spaghetti, but one way is cheaper time-wise, and the other cheaper money-wise. You pick which you value most. (Personally I usually have the time and desire to cook for myself. 🙂)
  22. I agree. Big stories are fun! I really liked the Elder Dragon Saga. But if the goal is to make each story fit into its own, one-year-long expansion, then we need to see these stories shrink a bit I think. Smaller scope, less characters (more opportunity for a smaller cast to get sufficient limelight in a shorter story). If the goal shifts in the future, from a storytelling perspective, to return to multi-expansion-long stories, then these big stories with dozens or more characters makes a lot more sense. A smaller story can still feel fun and impactful. I'm sure the writers can find ways to make my Commander still feel like who he has become and not necessarily make him feel like a fetch boy in a smaller story, for that matter.
  23. Exactly. One thing we players would likely never get access to are the metrics these game companies use to determine what's fun and popular and what makes money. They use that information to help decide what direction to take their games in. Just because there's a loud minority on the forums, Reddit, elsewhere, complaining about <new thing> doesn't mean that <new thing> isn't successful, per the metrics being pulled by a game company. That said, if there is something a player dislikes about a game, leaving constructive criticism ("thing bad" is useless, "I don't like thing because reasons" is much better and can potentially be actioned on) will help developers make better decisions in the future. And that said, it usually takes a while for criticism to be seen implemented effectively in a game for bigger features or issues. Most of these game companies run a massive ship and those can take a very long time to turn around.
