A(nother) message to Anet

Hey Anet,i saw your post regarding splitting the PvP/WvW - PvE balancing teams and the "promise" to be more active in the forums. I appreciate the immediate discussion about "what is balanced and what not" -> https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/90773/lets-talk-about-pvp-balance/, but i think this is not the worst issue. Of course balancing the classes is one aspect of needed "changes", but whatever you do, you will never achieve perfect balance - which is fine. Every game has its meta.

I think the biggest issue in PvP is the playerbase and variety. I'll play in plat 1 region and even there I acknowledge some player over and over again. This proofs, that the amount of player is small. Why that? Because pvp gets boring and tilting:

Beeing "forced" to play with at least 3 "random" player brings up toxicity obviosly. Always the same mode is getting boring. New players get shred even in "unranked" because either there are 5er groups or high ranked player who are bored and don't want to lose rating -> Obviosly fewer player will continue playing pvp and learning to get better.

So why do people like WvW and i guess even play it more than PvP? Cause they can "hide" in a big group. They don't have to feel "guilty" for beeing the reason a fight get lost. They can learn to use their spells while beeing protected by a mass of players. Even a lost teamfight in a big ass 40 vs 40 scenario is fun, cause it is exciting!

so lets see, what anet is planning for PvP becides class balance: Swiss Mode ... sorry, but "boring in a red wrapping paper" stays boring even if it gets packed in a green wrapping paper.

What i'm asking for: give us more exciting modes for PvP on a different playersize (i suggested some ideas last year and even other threads discuss their ideas). Stronghold is/was a good start, but it is still 5 vs 5.Give us 10 vs 10, 15 vs 15, 20 vs 20 battles. Give us other modes: CTF, Deathmatch, Capture and Hold with CTF, Capture and Hold an item ... something like that. You do not need to invent new maps for these modes all the time. Use the things you already have. Colloseum is big enough for at least a 10 vs 10 ctf with 2 flags (i wrote that in my suggestion) ...Give us 2 vs 2 and/or 3 vs 3 arena - you even have the maps! People WILL queue this, if they get a "ranked" button, cause they are not forced to play with 3 random people.

Of course there will be people, who don't want to play ranked on these modes/maps and this is fine, but if you increase the variety in "casual"-gaming, the playerbase will rise.

Thank you.

Not everyone plays WvW because they can hide in a group. Some people do care that skill matters.

The threads are about balances and not about PvP issues/wishes for new modes ... so i created a new one

True, even in PvP. Should't have said, that everyone does it because of the bigger groups, but many people like them. I think even the 15 vs 15 skirmishes are part of a wish of players, that there should be more modes with different group sizes.

+1 well said. I see balance that way too as something that needs to be addressed every now and then, but there's issues that go way beyond that. If Anet is expanding their forum presence, I hope they allow us to give ideas that could improve PvP on a fundamental level and more permanently than just balancing. New arenas being just one of the ways they could do so.
