in GW2 however, a bug being fixed is a rarity indeed, they only fix things when it would cost them money, not to maintain a proper level of game quality.

......i really miss the old Anet.

Really?

And so on and so forth for the previous months.

and none of them are things they should've fixed months ago, you're looking at stuff they fixed for that one patch, not for old bugs they never bothered to fix.also, all of the fixes they did would cost them if they didn't fix it, they even add stuff to hide their own lack of support.

That wasn’t your post. Your post wasn’t ‘old bugs being fixed is a rarity’. It was ‘bugs being fixed was a rarity’. And that’s what I responded to. Perhaps you should edit your post if you said something different than what you meant.

no, every bug, even from 7 years ago, has the right to be fixed.don't try to hide behind current fixes of current problems when bugs that exist since launch are ignored, so yes i responded correctly.

If you assume infinite available budget and dev manhours then of course all bugs should be fixed but if budget and manhours are finite then the most important bugs should be fixed first and longevity of a bug is not the most important criteria. The impact of the bug on players is far more important and I doubt people would be happy if the devs spent time fixing bugs based on how old they are instead of how important they are.

Not to mention that it has been stated before that fixing some bugs may very well break major things, so they have decided not to expend resources toward them.

i seriously doubt correcting certain dye channels would break major systems, it's just them taking new stuff as priorities instead of fixing the old stuff.

Like this bug:https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/6541/is-there-a-way-to-replay-the-way-forwardOctober 2017... its now almost march 2020, 2 and a half years later, and absolutetly NOTHING has been done to fix this. The only thing that happened is that the linked thread got locked...Simple bugs not being fixed in literal years... just sad...

That should tell you that Bugs are prioritized for fixing based on severity. I don't see anything wrong with that.

The acceptance of *playble product.

It's absolutely insane to believe games can be bug free, especially not ones with thousands of variables that can change from day to day like an MMO. What if one skill interaction from a class that wasn't originally released just happens to break this one part of the game that's been that way for 6 years? There is no "perfect code", devs work on making things run as flawlessly as they can, but just like the balance of an ever evolving combat game it's an impossible task.

Insane hmmm. Nice.

If you want an example for how long a bug causing quite severe issues can stick around, try using the Coalescence of Ruin when using Hammer as a Revenant. After years it still doesn't handle non-flat terrain properly ... or at all. It's quite fascinating to see, that it got worse instead of better even, considering how clunky it handles after the previous change.

Then again, besides some terrain testing I didn't check it after the big update - so far I know it still doesn't travel up or down hill. Really wish they would just finally give up on how it is "intended" to work and make it travel through the air, instead of on the ground, thereby allowing proper aiming ... and make it go towards the target again, instead of to wherever your character is looking (unless that was fixed in the big update).

Or how about the Weaver's problem with dual attunements when (dis)mounting, as in, you get the dual attack of the attunements you had before, but you are now double attuned to whatever your primary attunement was. Can be really quite annoying in WvW.(Reminds me, I also felt like Twist of Fate does not evade anymore...still need to check on that...)

Things like these bother me a lot more than a story mission's replayability to be honest. And there are probably more bugs like these...

Saying without knowing is easier than choosing what to do 1st when everything in this game is connected to the other.Imagine if they fixed that and instance crashes? or if they fixed Coalescence of Ruin when using Hammer as a Revenant and damage is greatly reduced unexpectedly or game crashes when using skill? there are many bugs out there but they choose not to fix them as they can create new bugs and/or break the game like candy corn nodes flashing (appearing and disappearing) in mini-map everywhere around Tyria now (not Halloween, i know) and they tried to fix them, past Halloween (event in Lion's Arch) didn't trigger after 1st build so they unloaded changes to that bug fix so we can play Event. ArenaNet are doing a lot of work, they just don't want to talk about it or "why they didn't fix something" !
