Most likely they will, but it will be eased in. I think the jackal will not be required until late game, since its optional in the story, and the gryffon will never be required because its a niche mount

I think so. They will surely continue to have places that are only accessible by certain mounts like we have now in the Path of Fire maps. Just like some areas in LW Season 3 require gliding or HoT masteries.

I'm also looking forward to a possible new mount. Not sure the likelihood of that, since masteries don't necessitate having a mount tied to them (they could have increased mount health, dodge on engage attack, a mastery that allows the mount engage skill to be used mid-combat, they can get creative and it doesn't necessarily mean another mount).

Considering the trend season 3 gave us, I think it's likely that mounts will be needed. Bloodstone fen needed gliding and updrafts to simply get anywhere without dying, bit's of siren's landing required it it too. Lake doric didn't really have need of gliding or bouncing mushrooms (however, leyline gliding helped with destroying those turrets) and ember bay, bitterfrost frontier and draconis mons all made use of new movement mechanics (thermal tubes and oakheart's reach).

Season 3 would be painful without gliding, mushroom's, etc. I can't imagine LS4 not requiring PoF.

Without a doubt. Season 3 relied heavily on gliding. So I imagine Season 4 will rely on mounts since it's an extension of PoF.
