  1. The constantly sound you get after crafting something at the leather workers crafting bench.
  2. I agree with this as well. Just let it process everything automatically. Best fix I see is to change the pve and wvw parts to automatic and manual. This way we could scribe all the guild siege and let it process automatically but if we needed a decoration or particular type of siege print, we could manually queue them up and let the manual queue be for either pve or wvw.
  3. OP, you play your game and I'll play mine. Please do not assume you know how I, or others want or would like our characters to look. If you had said "please let there be more non-skimpy choices" I would have supported you 100% as choice is always good but when you are advocating for the elimination of any future armor/outfits that are a bit more skimpier than your tastes run I have to say NO. You do not get to impose your desires on myself and the others that have posted here that like and utilize the skimpier armor/outfits. It's time to put a stop to the "I don't like it so no one can have it" movement.
  4. I finally had this issue resolved and it was not an issue with the game or my computer, it was the modem that I had from the cable company. Even though I had had several tech's out to fix the packet loss issue, I finally got one that looked at the modem and said that the modem was obsolete for almost 4 years. He replaced the modem a few months back and I've not had any disconnects due to packet loss since he did. If you' haven't replaced the modem in the last year or so (especially if it's a cable company provided modem), it may be the issue. I know that's not going to be the case for everyone but it fixed the issue for me.
  5. After hearing about this issue I finished my 2nd time through the 10 chests. At that point I was sitting at 0/10 chests on my 3rd time through the list. I purposely waited to open chests and did dailies to accumulate 10 keys which happened with today's reset. I then went to the various chests in order from the top of the list down. I was only able to open 4 of the 10 chests. The other chests were all sitting open and unable to be interacted with. This proves that there is no cooldown on the chests as I had not opened a chest for at least 10 days as I had skipped the daily yesterday. With starting at 0/10 on the chests, the 4 I was able to open were: Gendarran Fields, Kessex Hills, Frostgorge Sound and Timberline Falls. I used the same character that had opened all the chests in round 2 and the same character that did the dailies an the days I received a key. On my second pass through the list I had opened Mount Maelstrom first as I had had an extra key drop during round 1 and after completing the individual opening achievements, I was able to open the Mount Maelstrom right away to start round 2. I did not receive an extra key during round two so it took over 10 days to finish that set of the rounds and then the extra time to accumulate the 10 keys for todays attempt.
  6. I would keep it set to nighttime all the time as well. Reaver - Take a look at the forged beacons/braziers they are lit and offer decent light. The flames are a nice effect and look wonderful at night.
  7. I like to spend some time decorating and changing my guild halls' look. A lot of the decorations look a lot better with the moon out rather than the bright sun. I just personally like the mood and look at night especially with the amount of flame/fire/glowing decorations. It would be nice if the guild hall could have an upgrade to allow you to set it to either day, night or the current cycle as guild permissions saw fit. Since guild halls are instances this upgrade shouldn't interfere with any of the normal lighting cycles though if they are linked to them I could see a problem. It could be a new guild upgrade and my personal recommendation would be to allow you to talk to the guild treasurer to set it to your desired lighting effect. This way every guild could set it to their own taste and allow them to set permissions for their guild members.
  8. On the old forums the "official" policy was that threads with the last post over 3 months old were not to be necro'd. I'm not sure if that is the same standard on these new forums. There are many reasons to allow a post to be bumped up and they should be able to have that function. A good example of this would be a bug report or some "issue" with the game that impedes a persons progress. A person crafts a well worded thread about a bug or performance issue about the game should be able to (not that everyone does) wait a month/2 months for that issue to be addressed. Bugs can take time to be addressed and it doesn't make since to limit the time for a poster to be able to bump it up to gain more notice. I'd rather have it bumped once a month/2 months than have it bumped every 7 days. As a guideline I always agreed with the 3 month rule as that gave time for people to post and if no one had commented in 3 months then the issue couldn't have been that bad.
  9. I'm another in the 50-59 age group. Still have a working Atari 2600 which started my gaming hobby/addiction. Some have asked about the effects of age on reflexes etc and I have to say it's not only the age but it's also the mileage.
  10. I'll list a few of my concerns. The first instance has way too many CC's applied to the PC during the last boss fight. I get that the boss can apply a CC and you need to avoid/dodge it but the constant stun spam from the never-ending trash mobs is just ridiculous. It might be ok if the boss didn't act like a damage sponge when you can hit them but as it is, it's really not an enjoyable encounter. Does every creature need to have ranged damaging conditions? Some of the awakened give you 20 stacks of vulnerability in addition and that's at range and you can't dodge it while they also apply poison, bleeding and other conditions. Add the Iboga and scarabs to the awakeend and it's not a fun way to explore a map. I do like the map even though I don't normally like multi-level maps and that's probably due to having all the mounts but the griffon. My alt accts with only the raptor may prove differently.
  11. It's not really a "waste of materials' when you figure it's what allowed you to level up your crafting. You make an exotic weapon and either forge or salvage it but when you do you're not given any real return on the materials used to craft it. Take exotic greatswords for instance. 5 ori dowels (15 ori ingots/10 ancient wood) the 5 tier 6 mats, the two halves of the blade (6 more ori ingots) and 5 ecto. If you salvage that you get 1-3 ori ore and 1-3 ecto if you're lucky but you may just end up with 1 mirthril. Making the backpacks salvageable doesn't mean you'll get any more materials back.
  12. The amount of overdramatic responses to the concerns people have about these new skins is almost beyond belief. I have no problem with people having an opinion and posting it but the sheer amount of hyperbole and dramatization makes it hard to take what people are saying seriously. The 2 biggest offenders I've seen posted are that Anet is evil and preying on it's customers and that this new skin acquisition method is gambling and preys on those with gambling addiction/weakness. Anet is not evil. It's not preying on it's customers. Don't get me wrong. I'm no white knight and I think Anet has many faults in regards to it's gem shop and micro-transactions but I do not feel it's evil or preying. At the most Anet is guilty of using these mount skins to hit harder on those with impulse control. This is not unique to Anet as every, and I do mean every, single merchant out there uses impulse items in it's marketing. All those items around the checkout are not there just because you might need them, they are there to get you to impulse buy them. You've shopped the big box store and are now thirsty, hungry, or bored while waiting in line. Well they have a nice cooler with 20oz bottles of water/soda for your thirst, a huge rack full of candy for your hunger and numerous magazines there to read while you're bored and waiting. How many of those items did you truly need? Probably very few but you've bought them due to the placement of the items and your lack on control on your impulses. They could and usually do have these items somewhere else in the store and you could go and get them if you wanted but they sell more when they are at a place where impulse kicks in. It's the same with these mount skins. Most are unsatisfied with the lack of dye channels on the core mounts and want to make themselves look unique or at least different than the rest of those we see in game. So we purchase a chance at getting the skin we want. it's this chance that has people comparing it to gambling. The biggest issue I have with those comparing the new mount acquisition method to gambling is that, unlike true gambling, this method has an end point and final cost. You have a maximum expenditure of 12,000 gems. That's it. No more can be spent on getting a mount via this method. It's not gambling when you have a guaranteed result, you spend 12,000 gems you WILL get the mount you want. That is not gambling. It's not even close. You cannot buy more than 30 chances. You cannot spend more than 12,000 gems. Sure you may get lucky early on and not have to spend as much but there is an end point and maximum expenditure. It's not gambling when you have those two points. Most of would argue that 12,000 gems for a single skin is too much and I would agree. This is where the impulse control comes in. Do you buy a chance for the skin you want or do you wait? Do you want the skin so badly that you are not able to wait until you have the gems to buy them all or do you take a chance now? It's up to you. The way I look at it is almost like an installment plan. You have a purchase you want to make and it costs 12,000 gems. Some people have more money than others and they are given a discount of 2,400 gems by buying all of the skins at once. Anet gets the immediate influx of money from those people and due to the amount of instant cash, they are given a discount. This is the same as every major purchase you ever make in life. Want to buy a house and don't have the cash for the full purchase price, well you can get a loan. Sure it costs more than if you paid in full at purchase but it helps you out. Yeah, I know , real life vs games but the point holds in this case. 12,000 gems is a major in game purchase. Anet has actually made this easier as they have given us a number of advantages. We have no required installment payment, we have no time limit (as of yet). We can choose to pay if we want, when we want and how often we want. The thing about this item is that is a true convenience item. The mounts function exactly the same whether they have a new skin or have the core skin. No one gets an advantage in game because they got these skins. Personally I have no problem with this method or the price. Anet gets to make a lot of skins that cater to a lot of different opinions. While you may not like numerous skins but someone out there will like the ones you dislike and that person may dislike the ones you find most likeable. Everyone shares in the production cost to make everyone happy. I will buy these over time. I'm going to get a new skin with every purchase. I will eventually get them all when I decide to purchase them. I will use gem purchases and in game gold conversion to get them when I feel I have enough of either one to make the choice.
  13. This is still happening for myself as well. I've tried the suggestions and nothing has helped.
  14. I had constantly disconnections with code 7, and whle playing I had some very unwanted lag spikes; after the optimization I did as explained, its being a week now without a single lag spike and a single disconnection. (I know my ISP is not acting very good, packetloss, but its the sum of all things and something related to the latest patch that pushed to the edge and the problem appears, ofc in my case) I tried your suggestion and completely emptied my block list on one of my accounts and brought my friends list down to just 8 listings. I still got disconnects with the same error code on that account. Thanks for trying.
  15. Thanks for the comment, I'll try the suggestion though this does happen on all four of my accounts. Two of my accounts have dramatically shorter friends lists than the others.
  16. For a while now I've been getting constant disconnects and they always show the same error code (when one is shown). At first I thought it was just the game but when I looked around the old forums it was listed as being a packet loss error. Sometimes, not all or even half, I am sometimes (not every time) getting kicked from TS3/Vent/Discord when I have them running. Since I was getting these disconnects from TS3/Vent/Discord simultaneously I contacted my ISP and they installed a signal boost on my line. That helped for a little bit but now the occurrence of the error is more frequent but the disconnect from VOIP are not as often as it was. Anyone have any ideas for a fix to this issue? Things I've noticed with this error: 1) A lot of the time it happens when I'm using teleport abilities in game such as blink or shadow step.2) While they do happen in combat, I also will get disconnected while standing still in a guild hall or other location, including home instance with no one else in the instance or in my party3) A number of times I've gotten disconnected after harvesting a node in a home instance or guild hall. I harvest the node but the items are not put in my inventory. I am given a "search" prompt and cannot pick up the items and shortly disconnect. Tool charges (when using non-infinite tools) is marked off. I have done the following steps so far: 1) As I said, I have contacted my ISP and after some investigation they put a booster on my line. I have cable internet. 2) I ran a repair on the game client. Any help ill be greatly appreciated.
