  1. The point you try to make is pure kitten, don’t try to make it legit. The relation is unilateral to begin with. But let’s turn it around, a lot of people here delivered you now countless of examples what happened through the past 9 years (16 years). You haven’t been able to deny or deliver any counter argument against it. In fact all YOU did was doing assumptions. „Of cause it can…“, „It works both ways right?…, „There is a process going…“. Give me something I can work with. Give me an example that happened in the past 9 years of game development that would support your reasoning. For example when they deleted several traits in PvP, show me what we got as compensation. Explain why these traits are still usable in PvE but not in PvP. The whole redesign of Chrono and Mirage made them obsolet in PvP but braindead and stronger in PvE. 1 dodge in PvP, 2 dodges in PvE. Or just show me where they promised something and delivered what was said. The PvP community is playing half of the game because the Design is not made with at least PvP taken in consideration. And you still have the guts to tell people they are ignorant?
  2. no it doesn’t work both ways properly, read my examples again. That is the point and was the point which you can’t understand because idk you just ignore the past 9 years of game development? And I can’t believe I need to explain the Metapher with the mindset to you but everything is lost here anyways so why do I even bother
  3. You don’t ignore PvE Aspekts with the development of a class with PvP in mind. That has to get in your head and is the barrier. Making a class just viable for PvE is denying its ability to be viable in PvP. Developing a class around PvP doesn’t deny the class to perform well in PvE. The correlation itself is one-sided in the first place and has to be taken in consideration which is not happening from PvE perspective. Im not saying that Virtuoso should solve all mesmer problems but the cloneless design itself made it fundamental to add something other thematically fitting to the Mesmer theme which did not happen. Look at the all around Design of Virtuoso. It’s the definition of a holy trinity game ranged dps. Extremely basic in its whole design and only able to do dps from range and even that is badly implemented. I do not live in the world you do because I’m seriously do not expect that my feedback is heard by the devs. I believe they don’t even play the game, are short staffed and don’t have the time and interest to read through anything anyways. We have prove they don’t. I’m just here to tell people like you that your mindset destroyed a loved game and you should delete the game please. I have no tolerance for nonsense like this anymore. I had to read it for 9 years and it was always the „lowest common determinator“ kitten. We have seen where it brought us.
  4. I fully understand your point here, that is true GW2 was always more spammy then GW1. 8 skills / player vs 20 to 30 skills / player is a huge difference. But I always felt that the added movement and design of the combat system itself allowed a much more fluently combat while keeping the spirit. But this also takes into account that at the beginning of GW2 a lot of CDs have been much higher. Glamour Mesmer had only 2 or 3 AOE skills with 30s cd. Or the Ion cannon engi with sigil of concentration (I can’t remember what skills or sigils exactly, was it concentration?) only really bursted after weapon swap and with elite. Hammer Guard, 1 real burst, Rest pressure. Just to mention a few. Just dodging a burst was a lot more rewarding in the early days because of that. So like FoC spike, ranger spike, balanced, IWay, IoW way, trapper way etc, it had a lot in common just with more opportunity’s. You used more skills for your Burst but the attack and defense phases in combat have been relatively defined in the same way as gw1 just with more movement. And the added movement did not bad for the game. It made it much more rewarding for good players. To be able to outsmart the enemy with smart ports and stealth is not a bad thing. It was not rare to win huge outnumbered fights with 5 players because of how everything worked together. I can remember literally fighting for hours in WvW with 5 people in enemy keeps because the value of dodging one Zerg burst was much higher and meant you will most likely survive another 10 seconds. In gw1 it was similar, you had only 2 or 3 skills for damage and the rest was preparation, defending and positioning for the next burst. In gw2 you had max 2 burst consisting of a combination of skills rest was preparation defense and positioning.
  5. Mesmer got so many skills deleted from PvP because they weren’t fitted for it. Mesmer has like 3min CDs on elite skills because one elite spec can reset them. Mesmer get dodges deleted. 300CD traits. Traits get deleted and changed to the worst or changed for one build while destroying 2 or more other builds. After 9 years I personally have not a single build to play anymore. Builds get deleted one by one from PvP and WvW but are still usable in PvE. I am certain that mesmer has to play in PvP till the end of gw2 with like 50% of its kit while PvE players can use the full spec. In addition PvE players have gotten like what, 20 new maps in PvE with WvW siege events and stuff while the PvP communitys only content IS ESpecs. If I should buy this xpac they need to deliver because their reputation went down the cellar and we all here know what will happen with the design after the release (Nothing). Idk about you but out of my perspective PvE players got it quite well in the past. And tbh, developing a spec with PvP in mind doesn’t mean it will work any less in PvE because it will work in PvE anyways. It’s more like the ignorance to develope something for PvE just deleted most of the flexible opportunity’s a new espec could offers for PvP and makes it useless there.
  6. ??? Im driving now for more then 10 years, when I go on a test drive I do Note if this car is kitten. Same goes for football. I don’t watch football but you can be sure I can tell when bad football is played. Feels like next generation change of this game is happening lmao GW1 Players gave up to HoT and PoF and the lasting players gave up to… well this
  7. lmao this dude is the personalization of the problem this game has since release. ESpecs should be designed around PvP and then make it work for PvE, not the other way around. Mechanical wise it doesn’t make any sense to design it for PvE and make it work for PvP but noo „lowest common denominator“ and stuff like that… what a joke! My hairy kitten, I can’t believe I (we) have (had) to give up this game to such people. Unbelievable. After all this time and money. The goal was so clearly defined and designed to be pvp-oriented. How in the name of holy Lyssa, how could that go wrong? What happened between GS/staff power core mesmer and now?? THINK ABOUT IT GS/STAFF POWER MESMER P.S. I really try to be objective: The later errors are recognized and removed, the more expensive it is to eliminate these errors. Developing game content just to delete it later after hours and hours of balancing is like double and triple the work FOR NOTHING. So, i personally can’t imagine ANet puts that much resources into balancing after release. They don’t have the resources and experience as developers anymore. They came to the conclusion that they are not capable of fixing these errors later on and Virtuoso just shows that. And this mirrors in the reactions of long time customers whos only new game content is ESpecs, for some even only 1/9 of that. And these customers have been willed to pay up to 100 bucks just for that because it was everything they wanted. It’s indeed Art to lose a customer base like that. P.P.S. ANet you are the most incompetent company I have ever met . God kitten!
  8. Company’s are there to make money, not to be our friends. They will tell the player base what fits, to a) keep the playerbase and b) don’t lose their credibility as a company. At this point you are the one making assumptions. My statement is: this company kittened up since 2008, is known for it’s practice to delete game content if they have no idea what to do and in special kittened up after they lost the whole original dev team.<- no assumption, it’s a kitten fact. You are talking out of your behind:. „I can see a process at work“ ??? Have you been to the headquarters or where did you receive this information from? We had by far more competent developers in charge of the last two extensions and we have seen what happened. But let me tell it to you otherwise. A restaurant served you new food, you have been able to eat it but it didn’t taste as good as the standard menu. Now the cook changes and even the standard menu tastes like kitten now. What do you think. How will the new food taste? But the best part is: they told you to serve Parmesan but in reality it’s industrial produced analog cheese. And you defend them because, why should they lie to you honest soul. Company’s do not lie, lmaooo
  9. ANet is the WORST company when it comes PR talk and followed decisions. They have a reputation of literally deleting skills since 2008 and giving a kitten about afterwards. And kitten don’t get me started on gw1 but do I really have to remember you of every single skill and trait we have lost over the past years? No a Single attempet to mechanical balance was made there. All the traits that went through the same procedure as Smithers boon? One dodge? Guess now whole classes get smither booned with especs like virtuoso. Do I have to remember you about: 1. HoT 2. PoF 3. Living World season 1 4. Living World season 2 (^ worst things that could happen to this game in this exact order btw) It was always the same Marketing bla bla that you heard from them and it got worst every single time. They lost track of the problems they had and created new ones like „yes, we can!“. Looks similar to one but worse if you ask me. But anyways, when the old devs all left, they had seriously no idea what to do anymore and made the decision to go Smithers boon over the whole game. GG What money driven kitten company! 16 years customer and I have never seen such a kitten ever before. Is it now to much asked for to play a MESMER when you select a mesmer? My mind can’t comprehend how people can still defend such cheap ways of milking a product. I guess it’s the next “generation“ we have to pass on. From highly tactical innovative fighting system and defined classes with specialized skill mechanics to effect overload and spam to casual gaming fun, love it! When people ask me if they should start gw2 I tell them „hell no“. This is how far it came.
  10. Ou Man awesome reply, (also @Jijimuge.4675) nice that you took the time to review everything. Just to read some other thoughts about old Mesmer skills is really exiting for me. I am definitely a kid again when I talk about gw1 (ok SaltMode you are maybe right, if I talk about gw1 i definitely feel like a Child again, heck I even skipped school from time to time with my neighbors to play gw1 but now it gets to nostalgic xD) You are fully right. The most if not all skills I wrote up there have been WvW/PvP oriented. I’m not that imaginative about PvE, that’s true. Don’t know why but this pure dps oriented part of the game is not understandable for me xD. I definitely see the problem with the endurance surge, but I really liked the idea that the enemy is now forced to make the decision whether he dodges a not so important attack to lose endurance so the Mesmer can’t pressure with esurge or accept esurge damage. With the mind Wrack was The same idea. Dodge and take only the final blow of the hex instead of getting permanent damage from it. But as you said maybe dodge should be the safe space for everyone. Where I really have to disagree with you is, I think that it should not be a PvE mob that draws the line between what is possible and what not. This would limit every PvP oriented scenario to much and i personally don’t like the idea to let every possibility down just because an npc is not properly programmed. Yeah I know a lot are disagreeing with me but you could also just change some effects a little bit for PvE so instead of having to use an utility skill the enemy just has to use a skill or something (yeah against bosses not good but some skills are just not good against XY but usefull agains other things. For example no one is using portal vs a boss either or in general in PvE beside the skipping of things) But we surely meet at the non-damaging-condition build 😄 and also at the clone part. Would be nuts if this happened. And funny is, I already played a weakness chrono with power block, this totally useless well (of calamity) and rune of aristocrats. Sadly, after the staff changes, it is not even a meme build anymore. But it was fun for some month cause you played with kitten well of calamity in WvW xD. Let’s wish together 😄 ( http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?Pi0AYx7lJwwYXMGWJOuP/tOA-zVZYDhABG1H3nhGUI9mCBHEZXBufIETCgQ9wlMWkfcD-w )
  11. Well, I guess I can’t answer you then? But I will, it’s a Forum, accept that you will get answers if you ask something lol. And what is this all the time with spiteful or childish, what ever? I’m just writing with you over something. Are you so unfamiliar with discussions? If you feel this much attacked by my words then again, please don’t be so sensitive. Im not hurt cause you do not like it, but I’m not in your opinion. In fact i think, that all skills above are less threatening then a trait, that disables every interrupted skill by 15 seconds. And as stated, I never thought that this will make it into game. In fact I think that the devs will never listen to the Mesmer community. And for real, I don’t understand what you want to say with „for the record I wasn’t trying to be over friendly to you“ 😂 But if you really insist I can also write like you and everything is Gucci?: „what makes you think i am "hurt" because you have something against hexes...???“
  12. Ohh thanks for reminding me, loved that! I can understand why people think this will earn qq but the discussions over power block was really very interesting, and a lot of people said there should be more traits like this in the game. The damage modifier traits are if not the only build defining traits right now and it could really need some more differentiation. And I personally think that nothing of the mentioned above is stronger than power block itself, tbh.
  13. You shouldn’t be so sensitive. I can’t see anything negative about the post beside I contradicted you or better, answered your question: If you do not like, that I just don’t be overly friendly to you, it’s maybe the fact that you used 3 question marks to end your sentence. But if you wish I could add some smileys 😄 Anyways, sure, I wish that the new espec will have more in common with the thematic then the last two. Everyone has some wishes about the new espec, you too. Don’t know what is wrong with that, but maybe you want to explain. I mean „My post shows pore passion than just a fanfiction“, come on haha. I had a blast reading the old skills some of them have been the first skills I used in a mmo ever. Can’t pay for something like that, that’s for sure.
  14. One thing for sure is the point we meet. Clones are also in my opinion by far the worst thing that holds Mesmer as a whole back. And sadly it’s the only thing left that has this “mind play” and this isn’t even working as intended. We had high hp clones, low hp clones, clones with a lot of passive damage, clones with little to non passive damage. And everything at this hinders to perform well as soon as 2 or more players are on the field. On top of that it’s the reason why every kitten power Mesmer plays like a one shot executer. As soon as you summon a clone, it needs to be shattered because it is not worth to let it live.
  15. First of all it is daydreaming. Some people have fun doing it. It’s the same topic as discussing how the clone mechanics could be replaced. The point is it’s as meaningless as your comment saying it is not possible. See it as fanfiction. Second. No one ever thinks that the devs would ever listen to the Mesmer community. And finally, I’m pretty sure you haven’t read it that carefully so what’s the point?
  16. Ou wow I hadn’t thought about that. This is exactly in my taste. Awesome idea. Domination skills always offered so much more, if you ask me. I bought 3 henchmen slots to play domination way in PvE. Reminds me of logging in again
  17. The identity of the thematic „ mesmer“ got a little bit forgotten in the past years. In special since the introduction of mirage, a lot of attention went to a more heavily evasive focused playstyle, which is not wrong for this thematic but it simplified the class a little bit to much, if you ask me. One important aspect of a Mesmer was allways to create trade-off situations, for the Enemy. In these situations the Enemy had to choose between options to prevent incoming harm from the mesmer. What was special about it was, that these options never offered a good outcome for the enemy, but it could be situational better for him to do A instead of B. Confusion and later torment and slow was an attempt to go in this direction, but they are not fulfilling this job in the best way possible or are not accessible enough. With the conditions as we know them in gw2, a lot of effects are just not possible. This is a huge factor that influences the playstyle of this profession and also leads to the sadly state that Mesmer is mostly defined by clones from the majority, while the thematic Mesmer itself offers so much more. On a side note here, hexes do offer the special characteristic of: „If target does AB then this skill does XY“. That’s also why in my opinion hexes are a very important thing that is missing in this game but this post is not only about hexes but about mechanical posebilitys Another important thing i also wanted to note is: A very characteristic thing for mesmer skills was, that only a few inflicted health degeneration, which is also very different from the todays mesmer (related to the boon and condition system). A lot of effects or mesmer skills in gw1 have been either: -directly appearing effects -delayed appearing effects that deal direct damage after some time or drain energy or interrupt etc. Or -Effects that influence the coolddowns, casttime or anything related to the acting of the enemy Because a lot of people have never played gw1 i want to show you now some gw1 skills and how they could be implemented in gw2. I think some skills are very good illustrations of how it felt to play a mesmer in the first game. Don’t take these skills for full. For sure it is not everything balanced out for the gw2 system but it should boost the fantasy for more and should show that there could be more traits and skills like Power Block. E-Surge (Endurance-Surge aka Energy-Surge) Gw1 example: Causes X Energy loss. Deals X damage to target and nearby foes for each point of Energy lost. Gw2 example: Causes X Endurance loss. Deals X damage to target and nearby foes for each point of endurance lost. Blackout Gw1 example: Touch Skill. (2...5...6seconds.) Disables enemy skills. Your skills are disabled (5 seconds) Gw2 implementation: Touch Skill. X Seconds Disables skill. Your skills are disabled (5 seconds) Illusionary weapons Gw1 example: Elite Enchantment Spell. (30 seconds.) Deals 8...34...40damage to foes in place of other damage or effects from melee attacks. You have +5 armor for each equipped Illusion Magic skill Gw2 example: For X seconds your attributes: powers and condition damage / precision and expertise are switched. Hex: Price of Pride Gw1 example: Hex Spell. (5...17...20seconds.) Causes 1...6...7Energy loss the next time target foe uses an elite skill Gw2 example: For X seconds, if your enemy uses an elite skill, the elite skill will get immediately interrupted (looking at you, guards :D) Hex: Wastrels Worry Gw1 example: Hex Spell. (3 seconds). End effect: causes 20...84...100damage to target and adjacent foes. No effect and ends early if target foe uses a skill Gw2 example: After 3 seconds deals X amount of damage. No effect if the target uses a utility skill in this 3 seconds Illusion of Weakness Gw1 example: Enchantment Spell. Lose 50...202...240Health. End effect: you gain 50...202...240Health. Ends if damage drops your Health below 25% of your maximum Gw2 example: Entchantment Lose X health. If your health falls under 25% you heal for X. Gw1 Mind Wrack Gw1 example: Hex Spell. (5...33...40seconds.) Causes 1 Energy loss each time foe is the target of your non-hex Mesmer skills. Deals 5...21...25damage per point of Energy lost. If target foe's Energy drops to 0, it takes 15...83...100damage and Mind Wrack ends Gw2 example: Causes X Endurance loss each time foe is the target of your non-hex Mesmer skills. Deals X damage per point of Endurance lost. If target foes endurance drops to 0 it takes X damage and Mind Wrack ends. Accumulated_Pain Gw1 example: Deals X damage. Inflicts Deep Wound condition (X seconds), if target foe has 2 or more hexes Gw2 example: Skilltype AB inflicts weakness and cripple. If the enemy is already under the influences of weakness or cripple, the skill applies in addition slow and deals X damage. An honorable mentioning from gw2: iWorlock (Staff 3) This skill was a perfect example of implementing the gw1 style Mesmer in gw2 but the developers lost track of the awesomeness of this skill and destroyed it. This skill dealt direct damage with each condition on the enemy. If they would have paired power Mesmer with more non damaging conditions like slow and chill it would have been the reincarnation of the gw1 style. Skills like this created trade off situations for the enemy that directly influences both the Mesmers next decisions and the enemys. Skills like this would create interesting build possibility’s with the right implementations of other skills and traits. But not only my fantasy is asked here. Tell me your opinion or write also some skills or mechanics down. Let us think, what could have been if the game focused on its spirit instead of trying to ride the esl dragon.
  18. Okeyy 1. “you will all cry again like little girls” ”you behave like immature children” Really? In what world do you live in that this is not clearly an insult? 2. I asked “what is happening” because I already told you my opinion about everything you wrote in your thread by saying “I’m totally behind your opinion, beside the ward idea”. You literally bombarded me with questions and assumptions regards every kind of thing I have never ever mentioned or contradicted. You even went full hulk by saying the 2 things mentioned above. 3. i was about to discuss the ward idea with you but I don’t know what is going on in your head by telling me: ”Aren't they called Seals? As far as I'm aware of, wells belong to Necromancer!?” which made any further discussion with you meaningless because as it looks like you turn words around and everything. So my confusion is more or less justified i think. 4. “My point is that the main topic is requesting for interrupts, and there's all this drama about balance issues and nerfs, but they... including you, can't come up with a better idea for the next Elite Spec.‘ If you insist in going like this don’t expect friendly behavior lol Now thin foil hats on again 5. Forum Moderator.6104 SoulGuardian.6203 Same profile picture and how odd that the numbers are so close together. I could bet 100.000€ that I will not have this luck ever again… 6. how odd that FIRST the moderator and after that you visited my profile in the same hour. Now someone could make this crazy assumption that after you got hurt you deleted my “what is happening” comment in addition to the insult just a dude with a thin foil hat thinking but since you are also great in assumptions xD 7. And even if you guys are not the same person, how is someone supposed to discuss something with you, when you report the first comment you do not understand? 8. Some moments after you visited my profile, I got 4 dislikes on comments that have been here for some days. So you visited now old comments I wrote and disliked them? And now to your “main topic” interrupts.. because I fear the reporting of you The problem about a gw1 style rupter is that every single mechanic that was implemented in gw1 is already or most of it implemented in gw2. Look at the skills: Power Spike Spell. Interrupts a spell or chant. Interruption effect: deals 30...102...120 damage Complicate Spell. Interrupt a skill. Interruption effect: disables interrupted skill (+5...11...12 seconds) for target foe and all foes in the area. = PB Frustration Hex Spell. (5...17...20 seconds.) Causes 50% slower spell casting. Target foe takes 5...41...50damage whenever interrupted. Deals double damage on skill interrupt. = Delayed Rections Or just not doable: Elite Spell. Interrupts an action. Interruption effect: If a skill was interrupted, that skill is disabled and Simple Thievery becomes that skill (5...17...20 seconds). Power Drain Spell. Interrupts a spell or chant. Interruption effect: you gain 1...25...31 Energy If you look at all the Mesmer interrupt skills in gw1 you will see that also the effects do not really change after the ones I listed above. Ok maybe the one where every time you use a signet you rupt automatically but in the end it’s still just rupting. A whole espec dedicated to rupting would be definitely to much for this. In the end a huge factor are hexes. They should be implemented in this game because the condition and boon system doesn’t offer effects like “if the target enemy uses a spell then XY” beside the regular confusion but this suggestion is also made since I don’t know, the release of gw2?
  19. Why should we be „grateful“? In two years ANet deleted or overnerfed literally every single build I played. Heck, they deleted a dodge! They ignored Mesmer 1 whole year because they wanted to buff mirage again by reducing every single CD of it with a boon that defines a other espec from this profession and balanced the whole thing out by nerfing core. Every change done to mirage automatically influenced all other builds I had. Slowly I begin to hate mirage because even if I do not play it on a regular, it destroys all other ways to play. I have 5 ascending armor sets for my WvW Mesmer that I need to change every single patch, because ALL my builds, that used to be semi viable, are now pure crap again. Traits are gone, builds are gone, everything gone. Right now, I personally had never less ways to play this profession.
  20. Yeah the contra again but I would not say ANet did something good for us. I think it’s better explained with an abstract example. The community got grapes (chrono). Grapes are good and tasty and we enjoyed them but with the time the grapes got dry and they became raisins. Not everyone likes raisins but well you could enjoy them if you are really hungry. In the mean time we got chocolate cockie dough (mirage). And it was great, we could eat raisins (what we didn’t like soo much but still kind of grapes so yey) for a more freshly sweet and chocolate cookies for a heavier sweet taste. Both not the same but still, you could say they can be threatened as a nice candy. Not long ago someone came to the idea to make vegan cookies. Not everyone’s favorite but they are still chocolate cookies, I mean who says no to it. But the problem was, we had no vegan chocolate. So what we got was vegan cookies without chocolate (one dodge mirage). Still eatable but not what you ate the past years and you definitely miss the sweet chocolate taste. And now someone thought it’s a great idea to put the raisins in the vegan cookie dough and call it a day. But the people who liked the grapes (chrono) are now not only without grapes but also without raisins and the ones that loved chocolate cookies (two dodge mirage) have now to eat raisins. You can eat the cookies for sure. They are most likely even tasty. But god kitten I wanted grapes and chocolate cookies. Not vegan raisin cookies. And the best part is, the plate (core Mesmer), you served everything on, fell down in the process and broke. Some are eating now vegan raisin cookies and say „don’t care“ and some think „are you seriously kidding me“
  21. You are pretty fast hurt for someone who calls everyone „crying little girls“. Look, I’m more the contra in this community. Everyone who visits the Mesmer forum often enough knows my opinion about topics like clones and other stuff. I don’t need to express or better impose my opinion like you do it right now. And lastly, I already said „I’m behind you“. You are asking me if I have read the thread but you didn’t. So don’t ask me why I haven’t expressed my optinion about wards when I exactly did that. I guess it is not possible with you to discuss something so this will be my last words to this. Have a sunny Sunday. 😋
  22. Im totally behind yoci here. The current devs are nothing more then janitors for this game. They have no clue, never had a clue, and never will have a clue. Outliner skills with stupidly low cds and overwhelming high damage numbers with 5er digits just shows how bad the situation is. Beside the fact that anet hasn’t even the resources for more then one guy for the whole PvP balance (exaggerated spoken) Not to mention that we STILL have 300cd traits and no one to solve this problem. So where should all the resources for 3 different balanced game modes come from???
  23. Their names are wells. The skill type is called wells. I don’t know what you mean with seals. It’s not about that this type of skills exists in this game. It’s about that this type of skill exists in a other espec of the same profession called chronomancer. Mesmer doesn’t need any more duplicated kitten of anything. How is it any different, if the one effect is placed from the player position and the other is placeable.
  24. @SoulGuardian.6203 I’m totally behind your opinion beside the ward idea. Chrono wells are to similar to this and should fulfill your idea of wards.
  25. This would basically be my wish Mesmer. Now that they introduced the new resistance and the current state of chrono as pure dps, it could be amazing to have a focus on non damagin based conditions. Lots of weakness, slow, chill, blind, vulnerability and cripple. Could be totall insane and would be the definition of Mesmer if you ask me. Pair that with effects that deal direct damage as soon as one of these conditions is applied, like power block with interrupt, and you would have a solid direction to go.
