  1. Same error here, not even able to log in. "-usecoherent" command fixed it (and yes, im using Win 7)
  2. I am saying this since GW2 was released. ANYTHING bound to something is just an artificial aid to any games which have no clue how to properly balance player <-> player economy. In other AAA-grade MMO games which knows how to balance and have thoroughly thought economy, no "bound" exists at all.
  3. After Heart of Thorns, there was another expansion released, called Path of Fire. New Elite Specialzations, new game mechanics, some traits and skills completely reworked. Raid ppl toxicity still through the roof. GW2 is now more focused on releasing new PvE maps within their "Living World" thingy, IIRC the latest is Drizzlewood Coast. Way more new PvE masteries. Way more new ingame currencies. Last 6 months are lag-fest for some ppl, especially in greatly crowded areas and LW mapzones. ANet is now working on 3rd expansion (not much known about it yet). Also, many different mounts with different abilities now exists. Generally, if you are PvE player which wanna consume new PvE content, I think the game is still worth to play for returning players. I also suggest to read a GW2 wiki about new things and use some build calculators, because many skills and traits were completely reworked, + new Specalizations released. Stay away from WvW - ArenaNet's complete disaster.
  4. So at this point the WvW transfers may be little more than a gold-sink to the PvE faucet than anything else. A couple of years back I would have considered the assumption that transfers make bank to be possible but now I think that this is just another case of neglect. It isn't even an effective way to let WvW pay for PvE indirectly as a gold sink and in the inverse I strongly disbelieve that the "login and play solo story only" kind of players spend more in the gemstore than a "WvW player". No doubt the majority of spenders are pretty casual, but I'm pretty convinced that most of the continued gemstore support these days comes from the core audience of people who are casual but still social; the kind of players who at least pop around to do some World bosses and maybe even tourists WvW from time to time, the social PvX casuals. Those are the people I still see sweeping cards at least, among my friends. They still have a reason to care about the appearance of their characters and the investment into their accounts. I highly doubt that the full game tourists that only do LW and play other games care that much about their accounts and appearances to other players as they do not interact with them very much or require the QoL. The same goes for the more invested PvE-only players that play a fair hobby amount but do only lucrative things in the game. I can't see them swiping their cards very much since they must be bathing in enough gold to convert for almost anything they want by now. The conversion rates are probably heavily doped by now as well. I'm not saying it always wasn't but it there was probably more of a notion of supply and demand there at first. With all honesty, it was a relief to read a post from someone who is not just another fanatical ANet white knight, but someone who actually constructively broaden the discussion with highlighting different aspects which were not mentioned before. You have nice and wise arguments to think about, good job subversiontwo. Insta ThumbUp.
  5. copypasta from what I wrote in another topic, because it is directly related to alliances (deleted unnecesary or unrelated parts) ...After this balance patch, there are spreading some rumors about Alliances.
  6. I wont bother myself to react to that OP trolling clickbait attempt (after balance patch , it seems like PvE ppl enjoying trolling WvW ppl), but I want to react to this: Alliances = no more guild transfers = no more money income from guild transfers.
  7. EotM vol.2 strikes back! K-train, especially on outnumbered maps, is encouraged now, no counter against it. Welcome to the world of WvW.
  8. Imho, Warclaw stomping was a cheesy and retard-level singleplayer ability. No strategy, no tactic, just stomp -> enemy dead -> cya later at next fight. I think WvW is almost back at the situation before mounts were introduced into WvW. At this moment, Warclaw is still "sorta-kinda" usable as CC-immune way of traveling (and still slightly faster than player with Swiftness), and the Sniff ability is basically Target Painter Trap without the supply cost, which can alert other ppl about enemies zerging some objectives. Yeah, you can call me one of those "dangerous" "WvW supremacists" (in one of my guild groups, we immediatelly started using these words since that journalist article, its already a meme for us xD ), but personally, I consider this change as one of the (few) good parts in this balance patch. Well done ArenaNet, this change is another minor step to the WvW status where players would actually need to think about TEAMWORK, strategy and tactical play again.
  9. Short answer: Yes. Long answer: MMORPG "Lineage 2" - another MMO owned by NCsoft company who also own Guild Wars 2 merchandise - is using Unreal Engine 2. I was personally participated in fights 250 v 300 v 300 (rough guess based on numbers viewed in different "command channels" total-counts - L2 ppl know what is this), and game was runing relatively well, with slight lagging which can be perceived similarly like "micro-stuttering" effect. No skill-lags at all, no 5+ seconds lags , just slight "stuttering". That means something around 850 players total (in words: yes, eight hundred + players, thats not a miss-typo, thats true). So the answer to your question is: Yes, Unreal Engine is very good for big fights with enormous numbers of players fighting together in one location. Look at youtube, there are many videos with 500+ ppl fights.
  10. Meh ... tired of false advertising, Day 1 patches breaking game mechanic balances etc. Not gonna make any prejudice, cannot answer that question until I will be able to thoroughly test most of the game mechanics. Atm I can only say it looks promising.
  11. Like in all MMOs, balancing 50v50 gameplay based on feedback received in 5v5 or 1v1 always ends in distaster. Not even mentioning these "veterans" crying "My character was ganked, nerf everyone except me". // edit: forgot somehing in that joke, added it.
  12. So WvW players would be able to enter PvE mapzones, marked as enemy NPCs, and be able to kill PvE players (and of course vice-versa, PvE ppl will be able to kill these "enemy NPCs")? Exactly the same mechanics like Lotro MMO had years ago? Yeah, as a temporary GW2 event, why not. But considering the fact many PvE-ers are using zerker gear, it would be like 15-20 seconds fight , which would end in total wipe of entire PvE zerg. The fight will ends even before it will became a funny and enjoyable fight. Anyway, I agree with this suggestion, +1 if this would happen.
  13. This is hapening to WvW players for several years at reset time, at all Asura Gates in Lions Arch connected to WvW maps, with different gizmos with different visual effects. I repeat, for many years. Do not expect any change.
  14. I do not agree with updating the engine. Many ppl have weak Personal Computers. New engines are not optimized for weak PCs, and there is also a problem of memory-leaks. Nowaday many developers are too lazy to optimalize these in new engines, because they expect modern PCs have 32+GB RAM or even more. so they do not even bother to optimalize (read: fix) these memory leaks. For weak PCs, these memory leaks can make games using updated/modified engines absolutely unplayable. (for example, memory-leak problems happened in Planetside 2 some years ago) BIG NO to any engine update. Doing this would be imho contradictory to the main marketing target of GW2 - casual PvE players with average PCs (and average internet connections).
  15. Agree, nice idea. I suggest to add a red skew line to the icon, something like in this picture:so it can be easiliy distinguished by both color-see (sorry for my english, is that a correct english word for that?) and color-blind players too. Dont comment the picture quality, it was just a 5 minutes work (include searching icons) just to give a basic idea what I am speaking about.
