  1. Anet stated a long time back that this would require an entire rework of all the armor in the game because they all line up differently for different armor weights. It would be a huge undertaking that wouldn't be worth the effort. For instance, the waist line for heavy, medium, and light are located in different locations. So if you were to combine say a light top, with a heavy bottom, you'd have a rather large gap in the middle of your stomach as they weren't meant to be worn together. Or you'd end up with extreme clipping on certain outfits or overlapping of flesh where they don't line up. This is not to mention that it is different for every single race as well. Anet also stated that armor sets are too much work to make, thus the influx of outfits instead. Outfits are easier and require less development time, so they can focus development time elsewhere. Which is why we barely get any full sets of armor anymore and tons of outfits now. With that in mind, you think Anet is going to want to rebuild every single armor in the game for every race so they can all line up properly with each other and not clip horribly, just so we can mix and match? It's an idea that has been suggested many times over and eventually dies because we all know that Anet won't put the resources into this huge undertaking. It's just not worth their time. Like in WoW, changes like this would cost us a raid tier. In GW2, changes like this would cost a Living World season. :p
  2. No matter what character I try to login on, I get a Network Error telling me to check my internet connection and then the game boots me back to the launcher. My network is just fine, as I'm on Discord and obviously posting this message on the forums. Yet no matter what character I try to log on, I get the error at the loading screen and it boots me back to the launcher. EDIT: Finally was able to get in after several tries, though thought I would leave this here just in case others are having the issue and to let Anet know of the issue.
  3. Eh, the set is called the Mist Shard set. That is the set. One set. It contains the different armor weights, but it is all called Mist Shard. That is what I mean by one set. We are getting one set, the Mist Shard set. If they were all named differently and had different appearances, they would be different sets. But since it is all Mist Shard gear and all share pretty much the same appearance, it is just one set. It even states in the video "New Armor Set", not "sets". :p
  4. There is some weapon/armor skins you can earn in game, though they are behind lengthy grinds (DLC ones). But they are there at least, even if in small amounts. But for a game that revolves around cosmetics, it is a bit off-putting that almost all those cosmetics are Gem Store only. Not many have the hundreds of gold to convert to gems to afford an outfit/armor skin, so they have to spend real money to get any of these skins. I get they need to make money and god forbid we suggest adding skins to the actual game or else everyone will scream at you for it, but they really do need to add some skins to the game that we can earn at least. Kind of tired of the only way to get anything new in this game is to whip out the credit card instead of actually playing the game. What is tiring for me imo is some of the entitlement in these forums. There is no subscription cost to this game, there is new, free updates that have already added alot to the game, yet people want MORE? for free! How dare they dont give me stuff for free! /s There is a whole new updgradable armor sets coming with the new LW episode along with new map, new mount and a new legendary weapon. How's that fitting into the definition of new stuff being released only through the gemstore? Also guess what.. converting gold to gems and then buying stuff from the gemstore is ALSO playing the game. That gold came from you playing the game, no? The current model is fine as it is, imo. A bit of an over-reaction there don't you think? No one was acting entitled, they were just suggesting maybe we should get some of these skins that are constant gem store items, in the game to actually earn. No one asked for anything for free, they wanted to earn the items via gameplay. Like they mentioned, like the Caladbolg or Gryphon way. I don't see that as asking for something for free. They just want to work for something and feel like they earned it, instead of just handing over a credit card. There is one armor set coming in the next story, not sets of armor. And a new mount. The map isn't a reward you get, it's just a new zone to wander about in, so not sure why you even listed that as it is not related to anything we are talking about. Not impressed by the new Legendary, as it is just another Greatsword yet again. Because the Greatsword is the dominant weapon for pretty much everyone now as all the other weapons have been nerfed into the ground. Converting gold to gems? Yeah, have fun with that. An outfit is 700 gems. That's 252 gold. Do you have 252 gold just lying around to get an outfit? Not many do. Or how about a mount skin? That is 1200 gems if you want a specific one. Do you have 432 gold lying about to spend on that? Again, not many do. People always talk about being able to exchange gold for gems, but no one considers how much gold it actually costs to buy enough gems to afford most things in the gem store. Not everyone is sitting at thousands of gold to convert into gems to buy a couple items. This is coming from someone who spends anywhere from 60-100 dollars a month on the gem store. I support Anet just fine. But like the OP, I too would like to earn some neat skins in game by actually playing, instead of always having to spend money.
  5. Tried it for the first day, go nothing but materials from those boxes. And not even good materials. Literally level 1 materials. Quit after that and haven't done it since. It is not worth it in the slightest.

  7. On the contrary, account bound is essential for a game like GW2. It's a game with a currency exchange, allowing anyone with enough disposable income to buy nearly every item in it, either directly or indirectly through buying mats. BtA and, to an extent, timegating, forces people to play the game instead of just pulling out their cc if they want to have absolutely everything. I would argue we don't have enough BtA in the game, being tradeable is the reason for the ridiculously low rng some drops like infusions have. Except that's negated by the fact that you can literally buy everything with a credit card. Even Ascended. Following a guide online, it costs around 50g to max a crafting skill. Then just buy all the mats off the Trading Post and you can have a full set of Ascended instantly. All easily done with a credit card. The only thing you are playing, is maxing out your crafting skill via a guide and then crafting the Ascended armor itself. So the only thing that is holding back people, is just selling their crafted Ascended gear outright. You can already buy all the materials required to make the armor, so what's the difference in letting them just sell the armor itself? There is plenty of games that have a currency exchange that don't have the restrictions that GW2 has and they are doing just fine. There is always going to be someone who just buys everything with a credit card, you can't stop that, and it doesn't affect you, as you would never notice if they worked for it or bought it as it is all the same gear.
  8. Account bound in general, I feel, is bad for the game. It promotes solo play and is a hindrance to the community. Some people like crafting, and enjoy leveling up all professions. In other games, crafters can sell their goods on the market and that is how they make their money. Invest in your crafting skills, and make your investment back from the community. You're helping them gear up or get the mats they need, and making your profit at the same time. In GW2, pretty much everything is Account Bound, and your crafting is basically only for yourself. Investing tons of gold and materials just to benefit yourself and no one else. You don't make that investment back either, cause you can't sell any of your equipment cause it is all Account Bound/Soul Bound. You can't help out your friends or the community, because of the same reasons. For instance, I'm not a fan of crafting. Yet tons of stuff in this game requires max level in almost all crafting skills. So I'm stuck never being able to complete tons of collections/achievements or get Ascended gear because it all requires crafting. I play with my family all the time in GW2. My family loves crafting and making stuff all the time. They are maxed on all crafting skills and can make all the fancy stuff. Yet they can never help me. Because everything is Account Bound/ Soul Bound. They want to help, I have the materials stocked up in my bank and then some, yet I can't give them to them to make me any new gear or weapons. They can't help me out because of those reasons. As I said, it is a hindrance to the community that practically everything is Account Bound/Soul Bound. We can't help each other out as a community and can only do stuff for ourselves.
  9. Just a quick question: Can you use Reshade with this mod? And if yes, how? I didn't search extensively, granted, but didn't find anything that would tell me the 2 things are even compatible. Sadly you can't as far as I know, since they both use the same method. They would overwrite each other. So one or the other, though I think there might be a way, I didn't read too much into that part. I think there is a work-around on the download page that explains it. I just uninstalled my Reshade to test this mod out with the base game to see how well it performed.
  10. Or just be more creative with your names. You have the option to use spaces, so make use of them. Instead of going with an obvious name (that is more than likely taken), come up with something creative on your own. No reason to take names away from people just cause you wanted to use a pop culture reference/celebrity that someone beat you to. There is billions of options out there for you to use for a name, especially with the option to have spaces. Come up with some RP name like "Shiva Night Septras", something unique instead of something that you know everyone will instantly go for. Don't try to take away other people's names just cause you don't want to be creative. Heck, there is name generators online if you don't want to come up with your own.
  11. It seems to run the same type of injection as Reshade or any type of cosmetic enhancement (the use a d3d9.dll), so based off that, I'm going to assume it is safe to use as Anet have already stated that Reshade/SweetFX are fine to use already. As it offers no advantage and is just a performance boost, I see no reason as to why you would be banned for using it. If that were the case, all of us using Reshade/SweetFX would of been banned already. This is not 100% though and I don't speak for Anet, just giving you my insight as a Reshade user. I've been here since headstart, and have never been banned for using Reshade/SweetFX. Started using this recently myself as well, and so far all is good.
  12. Yeah this was why I quit a long time ago as well. Just the constant disconnects. Never being able to finish stories or do Fractals or anything cause of getting disconnected mid-way through. Just returned and I see the disconnects are still not fixed. Keep getting random disconnects. This really is putting me off from returning.
