  1. This is no where near the same thing. This is a horrible analogy. Build Templates didn't even exist in GW2. You can't "steal" something that never existed. A better analogy would be, there was no such thing as cable in existence. So we found a way to watch multiple channels for free. Then the birth of cable appears, and makes it illegal to use any other method besides theirs, and you have to pay for it now. A better analogy: Someone indicates that they are intending to open an amusement park on their property. A neighborhood kid asks if he can put up some free temporary skate trick ramps and such in a corner of the property so that some kids he knows can play around while waiting for the official park. The owner of the property says, 'sure, you can mess around until the officieal opening,' but only until then. The property owner keeps to their agreement to allow the kids to use their property for free for the entire time they worked on their official park.Except ArcDPS has had build templates way before Anet has even considered making build templates. It wasn't until Anet finally decided to make build templates that they told ArcDPS they can't have them anymore, after ArcDPS has already been doing build templates for years before Anet even considered doing it. So it's more like, those kids have turned the area into their own personal skate park for awhile now, and now the owner is going to build their own skate park there instead and they have to leave, but if they want to continue skating there, they have to pay admission now. The owner basically saw the kids were having fun with their own skate park, and decided that they shouldn't be allowed to do that without paying money, so they put a stop to it and built their own skate park that you have to pay to use.

  3. Always dislike when people keep using this excuse "The game needs funding somehow". Really? The thousands of items in the Gem Store, along with expansions, is not enough funding for them already? Do we really have to monetize every single feature of the game because "Anet needs funding somehow"? Considering many of the items are not consumables, the answer to that is pretty much yes. Also, to be fair .. you don't NEED to use your money to buy those features either (seems that people conveniently forget they can buy gems with gold when it favours their argument to do so) So instead of making Anet look like they always have their hands in your wallets for every feature they offer in the GS, maybe take a second to have a more objective view of how reasonably Anet offers things to players to understand how this business works. Not that people conveniently forget that you can buy gems with gold, it's just the rate is too high for most players. Sure you can buy gems for gold, if you have 150g to drop on 400 gems (that is the current exchange rate). You want that new mount skin? Better start farming up 750g. Want a new character slot? 300g. Do you have hundreds of gold lying around to spend on gems when you need it? No? Well then welcome to the party of pretty much everyone else. And it is designed that way to be more convenient for you to whip out your wallet, cause this game has a horrible reward structure and doesn't award you anywhere near the amount of gold you need to buy gems. We just had a living world announcement where most of the time was spent advertising merchandise you can buy. You can look at the front page and almost every other post is some new gem store item or merchandise to buy. They don't add mount/glider skins to the game for us to earn, cause they want us to buy them. Saying Anet doesn't have their hands in our wallets for every feature is wrong. Almost every new thing that shows up is tied to the gem store. The latest build/equipment templates shows that as well.
  4. Always dislike when people keep using this excuse "The game needs funding somehow". Really? The thousands of items in the Gem Store, along with expansions, is not enough funding for them already? Do we really have to monetize every single feature of the game because "Anet needs funding somehow"? There is a point when that "funding" crosses a line, especially when there is already thousands of things already giving them funding as it is. Anet is not some poor homeless beggar, living off our scraps. Saying "They need funding somehow" makes them sound like they are struggling and desperate. We can have features that don't require us to pay money for them all the time. If this was the case, then this would truly be an NCSoft game.
  5. Simply put, it's free to play (techinically buy to play, but after that it is free to play, no subscription). So you can install it with no worries (only takes like, what, an hour at most?) and check things out for yourself and see if you "feel" it again. Just letting other people tell you if they like it/hate it won't feed that feeling of you trying it yourself. Get a hands on approach and see if it still works for you. Best way to find out if it's worth coming back to or not. If you played at launch and only got to 47, you are in for a lot of changes. Might even feel like a new game if that was the last time you played. Suggest maybe reading up on some of the things that have happened over the years while you're installing it to give you an idea of what has happened over the years.
  6. Im more wondering if its all about why is 1 couple ok and not 2 or 3?We should strive for equality right? Could you imagine how painful it would be running around with two or three couples while you are single? The constant flirting back and forth or kisses or relationship talk coming from multiple couples while you are on a mission to save the world? It would be madness!
  7. Honestly, Kass and Jori are the only couple I would want in my guild. I don't need more couples following me into the gates of hell, camping on our travels, and helping citizens. Having multiple romances going on in your circle would just complicate things and make it awkward and then it becomes competition of who gets more screen time. One couple is more than enough for the commander to deal with. Unless of course your intention with this post is to bait from the other thread and cause more chaos. If so, let's not start all of that again.
  8. Because Anet popped into Twitter and told everyone that Jormag is non-binary and is voiced by a female actress. And then of course, there is this section from the magazine calling Jormag a "her" now and talking about gender identity of dragons: https://s3.amazonaws.com/guildwars2.com_uploads/livingworldmagazine/icebroodsaga_magazine_EN/files/assets/common/pages-content/pg05-0609%202.png?uni=ca500978769f68ed90e960fb542f5102 And now there is a bunch of confusion as to how this affects the already established lore and story of the game with Jormag being a male. Now they are changing Jormag to a female and saying their gender is non-binary. As well, the Sons of Svanir would never follow a female/non-binary dragon as they are misogynistic. So it makes absolutely no sense that Jormag would be female. It's change for the sake of diversity/pandering. Thus the whole bringing up the LGBT thing.
  9. There is a lot of stuff that is not fitting for our heroic characters to do. Tons of Hearts have objectives that a god/dragon slaying hero wouldn't even be seen doing. This is just one of many that we shouldn't do. Yet gameplay wise, we do them to unlock the vendors and to get our map completion. Nice thing is, you don't have to play matchmaker if you don't want to. Go take care of djinns instead if matchmaker isn't your thing. At least killing stuff is more worthy of a hero's attention.
  10. Honestly? My family. Got a gamer family and to spend time with them, I play GW2 with them. Been playing GW2 since beta and headstart and I actually quit after LW1 as I got bored pretty quick and didn't like the changes they were making. It wasn't until halfway through HoT that my family decided to finally try it (they used to play GW1), and they wanted me to join them. So I still play because I like spending time with them. But when they decide to move on, I'll more than likely quit again.
  11. I still don't get it honestly. It was an unnecessary change, to the extreme at that. Jormag has always been referred to as male since the beginning. It's already established and dialogues and stories talk of him being male. Not non-binary or female or whatever. Male. The Sons of Svanir are misogynistic. This is established lore and already facts. Why in the world would they worship a non-binary/female dragon? It goes against everything. This change rewrites the lore and messes up a lot of already established dialogue and story. It makes absolutely no sense and breaks everything. Stop changing things for diversity/pandering sake. Especially when it confuses people and ruins the already established lore. If you want a non-binary/female villian, make something new instead of changing something that already exists and is well known.
  12. Yeah that's a bit extreme lol. I didn't mean I was buying a character slot for every scroll I got. It just gave me incentives to make alts cause I could skip some levels, so I bought some character slots to make alts and use those scrolls. Honestly if I never got those scrolls, I wouldn't have all the alts I have now or bought all those character slots that I did. The scrolls just gave me incentives to buy character slots to use the scrolls. But yeah, I didn't buy one for each scroll I got. :P
  13. Yeah I would definitely like to see a merchandise vendor of some sort. Think it would be pretty fun to be able to buy a band T-Shirt or Boombox like the ones from SAB or something. And please not via the gem store, keep it in game like the bandana you get for fixing the Charr tank.
  14. Yeah I missed not getting an experience scroll as well. It is what honestly got me to buy extra character slots so I could use those scrolls for alts. So in the end, it was more money for Anet giving me those scrolls. Not sure why they didn't include it this year, but it is definitely missed.
  15. I don't get this change either. We have always been able to gather from anyone's home instance. All the nodes without restrictions. Now all the sudden we can't gather these nodes only? Just.... why? What is the point of this change?
  16. Yeah... Jormag has always been referred to as male since the beginning. Not sure why Anet felt it necessary to change that.
  17. Random is random. No bug, just unlucky. Nothing needs to be fixed or "represented more". Aridon does make a point, this is getting out of hand and a bit too much.
  18. LW5 was announced. It's a "saga" instead of a "season" though (whatever that means). Build Templates are still in the works (not ready yet). New WvW restructuring in the works (not ready yet). Strike missions (mini raids for randoms). Some new Masteries for the new maps. Heart of Thorns is free to people who purchased Path of Fire (if you already own HoT, you get a veterans package in the mail). There is a new T-Shirt in the gem store for free. And then a bunch of merchandise (new art book, funko toys, mouse pads, phone covers, etc). So basically the only thing coming is a new LW "saga". And it is just a prologue, not an episode. Comes out on Sept. 17th.
  19. It's not an official thing. It was made up by some random person. It was just something for fun/laughs made by a random internet user for the announcement. It is not made by Anet.
  20. Yeah I didn't get any mail, grabbed the T-Shirt though. As for the expansion being free now, be glad you're getting something in return. WoW offers all their expansions free when you buy the newest expansion. And you get nothing in return if you paid for all the expansions previously. At least Anet is giving you something if you paid for HoT previously, unlike other games.
  21. Not sure what everyone was expecting. We knew it was a LW announcement. What did you expect? Expac? Elite Specs? Housing? Races? LW never had any of that. The stream was just fine for what it was meant for. A LW announcement with some QoL updates. As for me, I'm fine with it all. It was exactly what I expected. A new LW story and some QoL updates. Looking forward to checking it out on Sept. 17th.
  22. Marjory mainly just cause I want to play detective and solve crimes. Otherwise, don't really care who I see more of. I just don't want to have to save the world from imminent destruction and fight off another dragon.... yet again. I'm so sick of this storyline being repeated over and over. Join together with a band of colorful characters and save the world from annihilation and slay the big dragon at the end. Can't we do something else for once? This is getting old.
  23. It'll be a nostalgia trip for current subscribers, and that's about it. It will die in about a week or two. Current subscribers to WoW can play WoW Classic for free with their current subscription. People playing on private servers won't come over, because they are already playing Classic for free and have invested a lot of effort into their characters. Think they are going to just stop playing on their private server and migrate to the official one and start paying a monthly subscription to have to start all over from scratch? No way. Why would they do that? As well, it won't bring in new players. Again, they have to pay a subscription just to play WoW Classic, when tons of private servers already have it for free. What would be the incentive for them to pay a monthly subscription over playing for free? Plus, new gamers won't want to play WoW Classic. A lot of people seem to have forgotten how much of a grind fest it was and the commitment that was required to progress. With the instant gratification attitude of gamers these days, they won't enjoy WoW Classic. And those already playing retail WoW will probably give it a glance for nostalgia sake, but return to retail WoW after a few days. There is so many QoL changes in retail that you are going to not have in WoW Classic. Retail WoW has become so relaxed and ease of use, that going back to WoW Classic would be a shock to them. Blizzard would have to make WoW Classic a free game in order to draw players in, because that monthly subscription for an old version of WoW is going to keep a lot of players from trying it out. Especially when they can play the same thing for free elsewhere, if they want to try it out. GW2 has nothing to worry about when it comes to WoW Classic. Nice thing is, GW2 is B2P (Buy to Play). So if you really want to, you can go pay your monthly fee to WoW Classic and try it out for a few days before the nostalgia wears off, and GW2 will still be sitting here waiting, with nothing preventing you from playing it whenever you want. Unlike WoW Classic which you will have to pay monthly for just to play it.
  24. I'm curious as to what kind of new weapon types you think this game needs still. Because currently, GW2 has pretty much everything covered already. Anything we don't have is basically covered by the weapons we do have. The only "new" weapon I can see being added would be the Spear, to use as a regular weapon instead of just underwater. Like the GW1 Paragon style (a short range Javelin). I think the better idea though would be to make more weapons available per profession, without tying them to an elite spec. Like Elementalist with a Longbow, or Mesmer with dual Pistols, or even Engineer with Maces. Spread the love, without requiring investing into elite specs all the time.
  25. Yeah honestly, they are annoying. Was in LA yesterday when the new skin released and there were just way too many of them sitting in the middle hovering away. Then not to mention the dust cloud that appears every time they flap their wings, causing all your fps to drop just moving your camera in their general direction. Worse off, I saw Anet tags in the mix of them doing the same thing. Just sitting there, hovering with their dust clouds doing nothing but dropping everyone's frames. We really need a particle slider or something or a way to disable that. My computer isn't the best, but I still get a decent 50 frames most the time, except when I go to LA. I just can't go there anymore cause of all the skyscales floating about, ruining the place for me.
