  1. Everything is a grind, even masteries or achievements. Good thing about GW2 is, these are entirely optional so I don't see the problem.
  2. Right now Stronghold exists so we can tell new players to avoid it and.. that's about it. It's a gamemode that wasn't received well by the PvP community and was quickly abandoned. Clearly a good amount of effort went into its creation though and the gamemode has some depth as is, and remains the only permanent alternative to Conquest in the queue system. There hasn't really been any attempts at improving the gamemode, and to be honest, I'm not sure if there was a demand for that in the first place. But years have passed and Stronghold is still there in the UI, right above Conquest, staring us down each day. So my question is: does the community want Anet to dedicate some resources to it and attempt a rework, or are we fine with the current state of affairs and resources should be spent elsewhere? Personally I wasn't the biggest fan of it at HoT launch, but I tried it again the other day and I kinda had fun. At least it was a nice change of pace from Conquest. If you have any suggestions for improvements or want to share anything regarding the future of the gamemode, I'd love to see your thoughts below!
  3. 1 set = 1 generation, we only have 2 sets. One that was there at launch and the other they started with HoT and finished sometimes after PoF. Gen 2 is just a bit inconsistent when it comes to earning them because they had to cut the scavenger hunt parts for future legendaries as they were taking too long to make, afaik.
  4. Just a showerthought. Gen 2 was supposed to be the last one, but then again, EoD likely wasn't planned at the time (and they were still finishing Gen 2 during PoF). Now that a new expansion is coming up, do you think we'll get new ones? Do you WANT more? Or should the devs spend the resources elsewhere? And if you do, should it have scavenger hunts or only a material cost? Personally I'd like to see new ones, especially if they are Canthan themed. The economy could certainly use them as material prices have dropped a lot lately. Would be healthy for the game IMO.
  5. No rational reason past the XP most of the time. Still, everything is worth doing at least once. Look at it this way: if you haven't done it before then it's new content. Unless you have something better to do, go for it.
  6. The level 80 boost comes from buying the expansions, so at that point they already have them.
  7. But WvW already has all the broken stat combos. Wouldn't call it broken but it doesn't have Demolisher, which they've been asking for for a reason. WvW might not have Demolisher but it has things like Wanderer, Cleric, Minstrel, Viper, Trailblazer, Dire, Soldier, Plaguedoctors, etc. Most of these stats were removed or never added to sPvP for a reason and it's a huge reason why builds in WvW are so ridiculous. Yes, and they can't remove problematic stats in WvW. All they can do is not add more.
  8. Don't think there's an option for that. Backward dodge is the default but you can change directions with WASD, or finetune the direction even more by holding down right click while moving.
  9. I've created a series of recaps for returning players not long ago that should help people get started, mostly focusing on big picture stuff like overhauls and new features/mechanics/types of content. You can pick the last expansion you have played as the starting point. Hope it helps.

  11. I'd say no to GW1 Tengu, but something about their GW2 design is so aesthetically pleasing.. Anet pls. They don't have a lot of lore, but I like their theme and they have potential. They are an established race with an open ended story and mystery that could go anywhere. Also dwarves are meh. I love them, don't get me wrong, but I'd never play them. Dwarves are also not a very "unique" concept. Plus then we'd have humans, "tall humans", and "short humans" as 50% of the playable races. I'd much rather go with something fresh, and they make the most sense for a Canthan expansion. The Canthan dwarves sound interesting enough for me to want to unravel the mystery, but doesn't make me want to play them.
  12. Fair, but I think you're kind of missing the whole point of passes. There are no exclusive NPCs you need a pass for, of course everything can be found elsewhere in the game, and the means of travel between these services can be optimized. But the point of a pass is exactly that: offering the most optimal route between different tasks and services. Cutting down on loading screens, waypoints and travel time between daily chores for years to come is more than worth a small one time purchase for many, and the bonus features can be nice too.
  13. It might be because of WvW. A lot of the PvP stats would be undesireable in most PvE content but could screw with WvW balance.
  14. If you're interested, here's a recommendation for the best store items. Should help you get the most out of your gems. solely from the fact that VIP passes are mentioned as "must have" i question the usefulness of this "guide". wvw starting location, pvp lobby or guild hall provide the necessary VIP functions (anvil, general vendor, bank access) in a better way: you can get back to your previous position and they are free.the things listed under lower tiers are way better, especially bag slots and bank tabs.Bag slots and bank tabs don't do anything unless you have already reached the limits of your storage options. For new players that may be months away, possibly a year if they use their character slots well. VIP passes can be huge timesavers from day 1 especially if you are crafting a lot, but I agree, that one is questionable. I've been considering knocking that down a tier, might just go for it now. I tend to rate items higher if they get more value out of a shared slot, and passes certainly do.

  16. Title. What's at the top of your wishlist for the upcoming expansion? And what's something that maybe didn't work out for you in previous ones and could do without/want to see changed?
  17. Neither, tbh. We have seen enough of the main cast and the whole commander business. I'd like to see something fresh. Just go in as a simple adventurer like in the good ol' days, meet new faces, join new organizations, and just explore. PoF was good but it could've been great if Anet focused on Elona itself more. Now that we are going to Cantha, I'd like Cantha to BE the narrative, not just the setting, if that makes sense.
  18. I'd just like to turn them off in general. The skins are nice but the footprints I could do without.
  19. Thanks! Good point, added a search feature. Will continue to tune it a bit later today (mess around with filters and layout) but it's functional. Hmm not sure about the home instance. It probably deserves some kind of a mention there but wouldn't harvesting require some investments/a tour in someone else's home? That's not necessarily something new players need to know right off the bat imo. I have a daily/weekly routine guide planned though, I'll definitely bring it up there. I'll probably leave full build guides to other sites, but a general overview of gear/endgame comps plus some suggestions for what weapons/stats/etc. to aim for while level could work. Ty for the insight, added to the table™!
  20. This is something I've been working on and polishing a lot in recent weeks, I think it belongs here. Link: https://catchupguides.com/ The site has 2 main sections: returning player recaps and general guides. RecapsDo you know that feeling of returning after a long break, not knowing where to start and what's changed? Most of us have probably been there before. My main goal is to provide a starting point for people like that and I have created a series of recaps for them: GW2 launch recap (for players who quit after launch but before HoT)Heart of Thorns recap (for players who quit after HoT but before PoF)Path of Fire recap (for players who quit after PoF but before the Icebrood Saga)Each recap is a bit different and leads up to present day GW2. For example the Heart of Thorns recap is for players who are familiar with GW2 up to HoT and quit sometime before PoF. The other recaps serve the same purpose but are tailored to people who quit at different points in time. The recaps are broken into categories like PvE, PvP, features and so on. I tried to keep them brief and list only major things because I don't want to overwhelm people with new info, but there are plenty of links in recaps that could take you to pages where the things I mention are more fleshed out. GuidesThese should be useful to everyone including new and current players. Here I aim to cover a broad range of subjects from leveling tips to where to park your alts. I believe it already has enough content to be useful, but there is definitely more planned so stay tuned! Couple of highlights: Leveling and general new player tips - broad range of basic tips from xp boosters to important service hubsRecommended gem store purchases - these are the most important store items in terms of convenience based on my research and personal experiencesGW2 explained to WoW players - I think it's safe to say that a lot of potential GW2 players are either disillusioned WoW veterans or at least know something about that game, so it's easier to take their current knowledge of an MMO and highlight both the similarities and the differences when teaching them the basics of GW2Endgame explained - GW2 isn't a conventional MMO when it comes to endgame and a lot of people struggle to find a purpose, so I've gathered a bunch of suggestions and different approaches that could help people figure out what to do once they ding 80I hope you guys find them useful :p And if you have any questions or suggestions, leave a comment below, I'm always open to feedback!
  21. I'd get behind it, but there has to be a way for GW1 players to access the forums then. Currently only works with GW2 accounts. Maybe they could introduce a workaround where F2P GW2 accounts that have a linked GW1 account could use the forums.
  22. HoT was Glint who was heavily tied to Tarir and the Aurene story going forward. You're right about PoF but the whole thing was just so weird. Every profession had an Elona themed elite spec except Rev, which would have been the easiest to tie in. Hopefully it was a one-off, but right now it's 1-1. Maybe Anet didn't want to add another human or centaur and there weren't any good candidates for other races in Elona? For Cantha they could look to some ancient Tengu or Naga if they really want to avoid humans, but I think it'd be silly to exclude them.
