  1. EoD is the first expansion that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring and I even map completed 100% on 5 characters. Not having to play GW2 like a stealth game avoiding every mob pack and having to the force logout relogin routine every 20 secs to reset aggro or cleanse ridiculously long stacked conditions like I did in HoT, PoF, LS3 and LS4 was an amazing gameplay experience for once. EoD had properly balanced mob difficulty and fun hidden chests that required exploration and minor puzzle solving. Probably the biggest QoL feature from EoD for me was the jade bots. That added 2k HP from tier 10 cores pushed many of my characters' HP beyond the 20k HP limit and made a huge difference in survivability and gave me more confidence to stay and fight regular mob packs instead of trying to run past or avoid them completely, especially on specs with no minions/pets/summons. The jade bot personal waypoint is also one of the best added features to the game. Even though I hardly ever used it after the first week (maybe my personal skill has improved?), it did give me the peace of mind to go all out and play on the offense in huge metas rather than just play extremely defensively and focus on surviving rather than dealing damage.
  2. I think it's coz Chunks of Pure Jade are so abundant and easy to come by. I can easily accumulate 60 Chunks of Pure Jade daily while roaming Dragon's End doing events for Contributor Stacks and lighting lanterns for repeatable Lamplighter's Badges during the hour before the actual meta begins. I only keep 500 Chunks of Pure Jade in my bank at any one time (for the current legendary I'm working on and extras for the next legendary) so I vendor those daily 60 jade for a quick and easy 1.5 gold.
  3. Back at launch, when I got to the Orr part in personal story I was amazed by this incredibly sexy NPC whose race I couldn't seem to encounter anywhere else in the game. I later discovered that they were Largos. Nice big booba, tight leotard and those THIGHS. Plus, built-in wings! Man, I'd gladly pay 8000 gems to unlock female Largos as a playable race.
  4. I respecced into condition Specter today and the Superior Sigil of Demons bug is still present ingame. It shows the +20% torment duration increase when hovering over the condition duration icon in the attributes panel in the Equipment tab, but doesn't have any effect on skills and their tooltips. Bumping for visibility.
  5. My first MMO was Final Fantasy XI which I played for 9 yrs all through school. I later went on to GW1 (only core, never played the xpacs), WoW (started during WotLK, quit and returned during the later xpacs WoD and Legion), FFXIV (quit after 6 mths at launch due to how awfully boring it was). I've played a ton of MMOs like Ragnarok Online, Runescape, Maplestory, Aion, Lineage 2, Black Desert, Blade & Soul, TERA, Scarlet Blade ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and while I REALLY enjoyed a lot of Asian MMORPG levelling experiences thanks to the very cultured female armor design ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), I tend to get bored once I reach max level and finish the main story questline. I played GW2 for a yr at launch in 2012 and got burnt out from the achievement point ratrace, quit and only returned last yr. I was pleasantly surprised by how far GW2 has come and I plan to stick with GW2 for the rest of my life (or at least until a much better MMO comes along, which isn't very likely from the current state of the gaming industry).
  6. I tend to die most often to encounters when I get outnumbered by 3 or more expansion map veterans/elites who are insane HP sponges and have BS mechanics/skills such as evading for 10 seconds while outputting massive DoT and pulsing AoE chill in a wide area. I play full Berserkers/Vipers gear on all my characters (except my daredevil, catalyst and dragonhunter who have full Marauders). I can survive just fine on my characters who have companions to split aggro between mobs like my reaper, untamed, mirage and mechanist, but after the huge nerf to sustain I struggle to solo group events with lots of mobs on my berserker, daredevil, catalyst, dragonhunter and vindicator. Even with perfect dodging (which is not always something I can do) I can only last so long before the champion/legendary/3+ elites whittles down my HP and I inevitably lose the battle of attrition. I also tend to easily lose control of the battle on characters where I have to pay more attention to my rotation and skills coming off cooldown than actually looking at what's happening on the screen and aoes, most noticeably catalyst and dragonhunter. So I usually end up only playing these characters in zerg events/group content where I know there will be other ppl to share aggro. Once I get focused on by multiple mobs I tend to completely lose control of my rotation and just mash random skills off cooldown and frantically spam dodges and circle strafe which ends up making the losing scenario worse. This is why I only play my reaper when I'm map completing expansion maps. The ability to run around with a minisquad of 10+ minions is great for confidence when engaging multiple packs of mobs. If I get into the situation where I'm starting a fight already outnumbered, I tend to already give up the battle as lost and play extremely defensively to disengage asap or stall long enough for someone to hopefully come and help.
  7. After 9 years, I finally decided to make an engineer thanks to mechanist. It's pretty much my 3rd most efficient open world solo character behind my MM reaper and staff/staff mirage. Updated my tempest to catalyst and having a much better time surviving in open world and doing damage in group events. Updated my soulbeast to untamed and also having a much better gameplay experience in terms of survival and damage potential. Updated my herald to vindicator and after playing it for a bit, I realized I really can't get into the revenant profession. The heal skills are so weak on the elite legends, and playing with one dodge that you have to waste for the damage buff makes survival even harder. I'm gonna give revenant one last shot by respeccing into condi renegade soon, if it doesn't work out I might have to retire this character as an chest alt park char. 😞 My reaper, mirage, dragonhunter, daredevil and berserker remain unchanged. I try to rotate between all my characters regularly to keep GW2 from getting stale, especially since I have to do DE everyday for another 2 weeks to get my remaining antique summoning stones. I do open world metas, T1 fractals and strikes.
  8. Granted, I didn't play Soulbeast much after I was done gearing and setting that spec up but from what I remember I've never been able to get even close to 40k Mauls on Soulbeast. Most of the time you're just trying to use your skills and utilities in the correct order to stack, refresh and prolong boon duration on you and your pet that it leaves little room for dodging mechanics let alone actually using your big damage skills effectively. And the moment you merge pet every hostile mob instantly switches focus to you and you just get instantly downed so you basically do zero damage anyway. Is a single 60k Wordly Impact worth being dead for the remaining duration of the fight or a quick trip back to waypoint? It's nice that Soulbeast can theoretically achieve higher numbers on a stationary training dummy that doesn't fight back and you don't have to worry about screenwide aoe circles or adds but for practical use, I find Untamed does way more overall damage in actual fight scenarios due to much higher survivability and your burst windows are very frequent (even more so if you use a hammer and Fervent Force) and they don't leave you vulnerable for several seconds at a time like on Soulbeast.
  9. Better than being downed/dead 75% of the fight and contributing nothing not even damage like 90% of other specs. On Untamed you do have to set up your bursts more strictly to coincide with all the damage bonuses from traits. I've seen my Mauls hit for 40k crits on bosses. And Whirling Defense can do upwards of more than 100k dmg (as long as the boss stays in the aoe and doesn't move around lol). So far on Untamed I've successfully completed the 3 easy EoD strikes (except Harvest Temple), T1 fractals (haven't tried beyond that coz I don't have AR on my Untamed and I'm saving up for a gen 3 legendary so I can't afford to waste gold on agony infusions), the harder meta events where 90% of people tend to get downed multiple times like Drakkar, Dragon's End, Seitung Province, Dragonstorm. All with minimal difficulty. Perilous Gift is an incredibly powerful heal that let me cheat death and quickly recover so many times.
  10. I support your proposal for more accessible PVE legendary armor except for this line. Locking stuff behind HoT maps may as well be making it unobtainable for anyone who isn't Lord Hizen. I wouldn't mind a huge crafting material sink like gen 1 legendaries or having options to get any accountbound items from any of the xpacs or even core Tyria.
  11. I'm loving Untamed at the moment. So much more survivable than Soulbeast. I've been able to survive the entire battle without being downed once in metas like Dragon's End, Seitung Province and Drakkar where 90% of the squad is dead or downed by the end. The only other profession I've been able to achieve that feat on is my main, Reaper. Running GS/dual axes, like HnRkLnXqZ I camp Unleashed Ranger and only Unleash Pet during phases where I'm taking heavy ambient damage and every once in a while to spam the F1 F3 F2 unleashed pet skill combo then back to Unleash Ranger for the ambush massive heal and cleave. Definitely more fun than Soulbeast, the unleashed mechanic is situational and you have to learn when to switch modes to adapt to the fight. The merge pet mechanic on Soulbeast was unplayable for me; the moment I merge pet, every mob in the general vicinity instantly focuses damage on me and I get instant downed. So I ended up never merging with pet and Soulbeast just felt like a heavily kitten core ranger.
  12. You may have to look up a guide to get to some of the more obscure POIs and vistas, but it isnt so bad. Certainly not as terrible as any of the HoT or PoF maps. At least the common mobs in Echovald Wilds are actually soloable and don't require a zerg of 50 people. iirc you don't even need to complete the minidungeons, just stepping into the first room gets you the POI.
  13. I've been crafting and salvaging lv75 fine barbaric helms since I started EoD. If you buy all the materials, it's 4 silver 50 copper for 5 research notes, which amounts to roughly 1 silver per note (it used to give 10 notes before nerf though 😞 ). Pretty cheap. Never bothered with coffee or potions.
  14. Strange, turtles always become transparent on my screen whenever there are more than a few players around (like meta events for example). I assumed it was implemented this way to prevent the very issue you're bringing up, but it could just be my settings. I have Character Model Limit set to Lowest in the options, maybe that might help fix your problem?
  15. Map completion is already frustrating enough WITH the skyscale, I can't imagine trying to navigate any xpac maps like in the old days. That would just get me to quit the game entirely like how I did at launch after a year and not even managing to get 25% world completion in core Tyria. The only way such a ridiculous idea would even make sense is if they started selling Map Completion Unlocks in the gemstore so the average player can reasonably clear maps for crafting legendaries. I went through hell and spent a whole lot of resources to get my Skyscale and Griffon so unless you're gonna reimburse me and mail me 10k gold ingame (includes costs for the gen 3 legendary I'll have to buy off the TP now that you're denying me EoD map completion) for taking away my hard-earned mounts, your suggestion is a hard fail.
