    I tested it, the Pet does NOT use any abilities when we are downed if we are playing Untamed, so Untamed is the worst spec we have out of all 4 for when we are downed, it actually nerfs us. 

    It would be great if it automatically unleased your pet and they used their F3 when you call them to start rezzing you, that would be special, but no, it does not.  They don't use their unleased abilities or their normal abilities when you go down, and you cannot use them when you are down.

  2. Now one quick question as I don't want to login to the worst E-spec for End of Dragons, the Untamed. 

     

    When you are downed, does your pet use abilities/can you still use your pet abilities? Cause usually when I go down in SB my pet unmerges, and then CC's whoever did it, knocking them down ect and attacking them with abilities. 
    Cause if you can't/ it doesn't, that's actually kinda hilarious how this makes Ranger worse in even more ways.

    Classic Anet as far as ranger goes.

     

    Yeah that, all they simply had to do was label all the unleashed skills as beast skills, then we'd even have access to 3 taunts on use, would be quite interesting. 

    Instead they make them synergise with nothing and even add in a trait to waste a trait slot.

  5. Yeah unfortunate that, what we were expecting from the reveal came to light to be true, the specs terrible and won't be played by anyone unless they want to be worse on purpose in its current state. So hopefully it undergoes a massive overhaul before release.

  6. First impressions show that this will easily be our weakest spec dps wise, even druid could outdps and outcc it if the conditions are right. 

    And pets end up weaker unless you constantly remember to use abilities that should be autocastable, why not allow us to set pet abilities to autocast, then they'd still use them without extra input and we can select which ones they use, say stop birds from casting swiftness. 

    Feels clunky, and extremely weak. And we take MORE damage when unleashed? why? 
    So if you don't use hammer, there is literally never a reason to take it off the pet right? cause all it does is make you weaker. But then the class is designed for you to swap constantly due to traits that would be entirely useless. SB allowed you to stay merged or unmerged, it was your choice...

    I just don't get what they were going for when they designed this spec, and how Engineers go and get a better pet that is customizable and stronger with a break bar that can outdps this entire class by itself. 

    the ONLY saving grace is the aoe projectile block, which again is more anti-projectile power creep. The dome is huge and could stop range attacks entirely. Which means playing LB/SB is now again, even worse then before with this constant anti-range powercreep. Give us some more access to unblockable already.

    You're already essentially going to need to be in unleashed mode as much as possible to meet the same damage as soul beast

    It won't even be worth popping your pet into unleashed just for the skills and then back out as the mode has a 10s cooldown

    10s where you deal 15% less damage for a moderate dps burst on your pet. Something not even remotely worth it when performance matters just as is the case when running a power soulbeast

     

    Yeah that, not exactly sure why they figured us going from SB buffing our damage stats and making us better fighters in every way, to a 15% less damage buff including missing out on various other buffs. Its a very large dps nerf, and we rely on a pet that most of the time won't even be able to hit its target in pvp unless for some reason you up against a bad pvp player that doesn't know how to move, doesn't use stun breaks and cleanses... 

    In which case literally any build could beat them. 

     

    Oh gee wow we get a single shadowstep on the pet that has a long cd. The problem is if the pet was actually good, the class would be broken. I mean I know a long time ago cats used to be able to solo people from stealth, if that returned I'd be amazed, it'd be fun just to see people complain about Ranger pets again 😛

    Feedback is feedback regardless if its positive or negative, if anything you always should want negative feedback cause that means you still have room to improve 🙂

    We are about to try it out in game, where we will see if our fears are met or not. Right now it looks like the worst E-Spec out of all nine that succeeds at nothing the Ranger could not already do, its kinda pointless if it doesn't add on. Kinda like how Thief specs are dps, dps, and dps. Glad they finally got something non-self related. 

    From what we have seen, there is nothing special about Ranger. Hammer having CC just means it will be like Warrior Hammer, doing no damage to any target - making this spec the weakest dps wise spec possible the Ranger has.

    Extremely short sighted to attack 1 activity that was also a saving grace for those not always able to constantly kill

    Seriously ArenaNet, I hope you take a complete look at the entire system instead of just taking things away that we (NOT afkers) also use to prevent bleed of participation and replace it with credit of other activities.

    AKFers will find other ways, yet we - the ones that just want to play WvW and have fun - are the ones that are gonna be the victim.

     

     

    You know, that is an idea, if you heal someone else and they gain health back, set participation to 10minutes. Buffing couldn't work as then that'd be the easiest way to get it as you could just afk as a Rev and get it. Still most support has some kind of heal, so be interesting if they actually let things count with heals, that way you can support in a group and actually have an easier time keeping it up then the dps and tanks. 

    CC'ing another player, should give participation too,  harder to pull off then just damage dealt. Ya'know, things that you actually do when playing the game, instead of having to worry about this ticking timer you could just play and enjoy yourself. 

    Sieging a target should give participation to everyone standing around the siege If its not inside a keep/tower. That would make things interesting as it could cause pvp events simply by more people being hittable. 

    Idk, just seems like if you are actually playing the game you should always have it without having to try. Even right now its easily possible to be super active in wvw, play for hours, and accidently spend a lot of it outside of the grace period and miss pips entirely because you didn't do what you had to specifically to keep it up. You have to take camps, you have to get a kill every 10minutes. Removing one of our few accesses to it, only hurts active players, it does nothing for afk players.

    Exactly, all this change does, all it does, is punish active players who actually want to defend objectives. That's it. SMC will still have its supply spent on wall repair as people inside will still get 10 minutes, which means it will have 0 effect on afk people. 

    Its literally just punishing people for sticking around to repair walls. If you defend something solo? You are basically punished with no rewards from the least rewarding game system in game. 

    New way to attack something, break the wall, leave for 5-10minutes, break a nearly broken wall in seconds and grab the tower before its even CT'd. What Anet is telling us with this change is they want K-training to be a thing, they want everyone to blob as it will be the only reliable way in game when "actively" playing to get participation.

    Outnumbered does not balance servers. It does not take total population into consideration and isn't even meaningful when it comes to map states. Even the server with the highest population will have "outnumbered" on at least one map quite often, while at the same time it is possible for the second populated server, that might be heavily outnumbered by server nr. 1, to not have that buff.

    Tying a significant reward bonus to "outnumbered" also creates the problem, that players want to maintain the buff as much as possible and for example don't call out an incoming attack on one of their structures, because reinforcements would mean, they lose their bonus pips. It basically does the opposite of balancing map population.

    That's true but also irrelevant for reasons stated above. "Outnumbered" bonus pips do absolutely nothing to improve map or server wide population balance.

     

    Actually extremely low, in the time you get one set of Legendary gear from wvw, you have all armour classes and more unlocked in pve. 

    Like why make wvw stuff take years to get, when pve stuff takes weeks?

  12. Well for one thing, at least the beta where we played say, Bladesworn, came out before these posts. The fact that its almost entirely predictable how bad this spec is is saying something. 

    It will be interesting to see when it does come into game, to see if they have actually buffed pets a lot in pvp/wvw and are just not telling us, but also yes, the Cantrips are all terrible, and the traits looked really bad and the hammer requiring a charge up with every attack means it will be extremely easy for other people to proc on Interrupt effects. 

    Here's to hoping this spec changes a lot before release.

    Why though? Then again I'm mostly quoting other games where its a thing, like it was in Rift and honestly worked well. Guess GW2 is just different that we expect to kill the pet who most likely is nowhere near the Ranger, I mean how often is your pet next to you in splash range? 

    This spec relies on the pet, yet if the pets dead, the specs dead. Its the only spec in game that might allow you and your pet to be near each other on the same target, but if they still die instantly regardless, it defeats the entire point of the spec. 

    At this rate, SB makes for a better pet spec, cause at least we can revive the pet there by merging and un-merging.

     

    It should take some damage, sure, but it should be able to tank it unless its directly targeted. Make the E-spec make people want to target the pet over the Ranger. Make the Ranger pet actually worth the target, as it can't be rezzed as fast as a SB, but still be a priority target, instead of just allowing people to target the Ranger anyway and kill the pet at the same time.

    Exactly, there is no point to be this spec. Why we'd want our terrible AI pets back and lose out on damage entirely, we'd basically be cc bots in meta squads that do no damage, one thing to remember is that CC abilities do exactly 1 damage in wvw. I doubt they'd let this hammer hit for more then 1 unless they change that update. 

    When playing the closest meta build we have for squads, Immob SB, at least we can actually still deal good damage while having lots of access to Immob already. We already have a lot of that cc, and can already do good damage and it all be Range or melee with GS / x/axe.

    Make this a core Ranger spec choice and give us an actual E-Spec

  15. I like how peoples solution to problems is "just use the pets with the highest health" yeah because making a large portion of our pets redundant and useless is a good idea right? 

    It would have been great to get an actual support spec so people would actually WANT a Ranger in big squads or meta squads outside of "here have some immob". 

    Personally I had hoped this spec would have a lot of Unblockability with the hammer to combo with LB so we could actually hit people from range for a change. Instead we get forced into hammer as its the only weapon effected by Untamed even though Greatsword.. is still better in every way. 
    We all stopped playing Core Ranger because its 100% terrible. SB is just better in Every. Single. Way. This should just be the new core Ranger spec, and we get a different Elite spec for the expac.

    TBH, this should just be core ranger, this is not an elite spec, cause what exactly is the reason for core ranger even existing anymore? Its like "here, have your bad ai pet back after you got so used to SB fixing the problem by removing the pet, also its still terrible in any format outside of pve content". 

     

    Its like a slightly better core Ranger. Nothing special about this E-spec, its just core Ranger back.

    Another big problem I see is the actual pet health vs the heal cantrip and untamed in general. Canines have 16k Hp, birds I think around 9k if I am not mistaken.

    In WvW the pets will die even before being able to make some use of them. The healing cantrip will be useless all across the game.

     

    I think Anet should have clarify if they are going to balance all the pets too.

     

    Coming back to the game to my Ranger main and looking at new pets, that's all I saw, everyone saying use that purely because it is one of the only pets in the entire game that actually is able to hit something.

     

    Pets need a massive overhaul if they want us to use them in a pvp setting, and apparently a bugfix. Also that heal, they were totally meme'ing with that heal, I thought some of the others were bad but that is just hilariously useless. Easilly the worst new heal from any of the nine elite specs. Not allowing swapping during its duration combined with pets basically having no health or being dead in pvp 98% of the time... what on Earth were they smoking when they came up with that.

    tbh, it should have been a thing in game since game launch that pets are nearly immune to aoe damage/ground target damage from all sources. ST them is fine, but dying to random aoe is something that is just dumb for pet AI. 

  19. Ranger, the pet and range class. 

    And what we get? Even more GIANT projectile blocks into the game, great. Good to see so many of these new classes get the ability to remove entire specs from the game. And Warrior like hammer, which as it does CC, could mean it does 0 damage in pvp/wvw game modes. Also did not show pvp/wvw based pet stats, which are A LOT lower due to nerfs. Pets used to be so strong at gw2 launch but now they die instantly, all the time, and are utterly useless. 

    This class will be utterly useless in wvw and pvp. The 10% heal though could make it interesting for pve solo content. Elite is interesting with it being a more powerful Dolyak stance, too bad the recent changes to damage reduction massively reduces its effectiveness as it doesn't stack right with protection anymore, it could have been great if not for that change. 

    And now Engie's get a better pet to use. Funny that. I so wish this spec had a ton of unlockable abilities so that you could actually range with it but instead, we are still shafted on that front unless we use our single signet for it. 

    Doing no damage range and this spec is utterly useless looking for wvw and pvp, they really don't like Ranger much, do they at Anet. The reason SB works so well, is we remove the pets super badness at everything after all its nerfs, and gain abilities to use that actually do something with awesome stance skills. 

    The stance utilities are just so much better then the cantrips here.

  20. Nerfs, buggy ai, pets being useless in pvp/wvw format. 

    Be interesting to see if Mechanist is viable in pvp, cause then it would be the better pet class by far. 

    Unless what we saw was pve stats for the mech (just like with Ranger pets,  asif they let us have pve stats in wvw, they like some of our pets having <10k health in pvp format). 

    I mean I Miss early gw2 pets, I remember back then my stealth Panther could actually kill people. All it needed to do was stealth and pounce and rip people to shreds, way back when Core Ranger was actually good. 

    I see so many issues with this spec in pvp, purely because pets die instantly. Whereas if this mech doesn't, that means for non-pve content, it will be the better pet class

    Outnumbered pips are nice, but they are also a sign of an unhealthy game mode, so ideally, we shouldn't balance around that. If you ask me outnumbered pips should be baseline, but they're already increasing baseline pips, so whatever.

    Also while we're at this, can you reconsider vendors for WvW stuff? Like we're still seeing vendors selling paper siege for 12s or laurels. I think those need to be updated severely. Also the WvW laurel vendor doesn't sell enrichments. The skirmish ticket vendor could also use a revamp, since it's not viable for people that don't want legendaries. And what about mark shards? Not only are they a pain, but a year for ascended armor just seems silly.

    I'll probably get shot for this, but... also. Why don't we have Guild Omega Golems?

    Oh, can we make all sources of +xp from boosters apply to WxP? The wording is extremely confusing, and we have some boosters that say they improve XP but apply to XP and others only apply to pve XP.  And Birthday Boosters only give +10% reward track. Is that ok?

     

    Only EBG Defence timers seem to give part, I've done defend events in say, Bay, and at the end of the timer, it did not reset it to 10mins even though I had kills and wall repairs during the timer. Same deal with towers in redBL, noticed it not giving the 10 mins, unless that is just more incentive for everyone to be in EBG 😛 

     

    Or zergs. Which is what their changes will do, either camp flipping or zergs will be the only way to get participation.

    But most importantly, you are missing my point, and cherrypicking 1 sentence.  outnumbered also balances pips between servers, because while losing server has less pips from score, it does get occasionaly outnumbered bonus and everyone knows, matches arent balanced now, so small servers get slapped into face while waiting for alliances for no reason.


    And while we are at it, Anet point out how well their algorithm balanced groups with just 2% difference but thats just about size of groups, however people dont play 24/7 so outnumber was and always will happen due to many reasons.

     

    Exactly, it still takes too long to get to diamond chests, and with the removal of repairs giving timer, your essentially cut off from a major source of it when actually playing the game. Defence of an objective now won't give you pips. 

     

    Which means, 20+ hours of camp flipping weekly. WvW has the worst reward system and ways to get it in game, so their choice is to make it worse? Nothing should be removed, it should be easier to get participation, and you should get more pips.
