  1. No, I am just sick of stubborn people pinging me for silly questions that are easily thought out about. It's like people here are purposefully making problems that are easily solved for the sake of argument. But for your question likely just the Dominion of Winds area, a personal quest and done. That is really all it needs. And why Cantha? What would Tengu, a race who has been kicked out of a region for centuries have anything to do with it anymore? Come on, think about this for a moment.
  2. You do Caledon Forest when you start as a Sylvari from level 2 to 80? I'm impressed by your dedication. And what are they sacrificing? More ideas like fishing? I'd rather have more reasons to try out new clothing aesthetics than having something like a new yoga mastery system.
  3. They already have their area, and no it really is not, it is nothing compared to HoT.
  4. It's poorly thought out DnD DM story telling at best, at worst it is an incoherent mess of endless whys and hows. I'd give examples, but I'd be at it for days. So if they drop the commander storyline for the new race, nothing of value would be lost. It can easily be included as a new game+ thing after EoD ends because that is where the GW2 story is just going to end. Or should end, but I am sure they will just handwave all the consequences away despite the billions of implications of killing all the elder dragons will do to the world, not just magically but the entire social structure as well. Everything in the game worked because we are fighting the dragons, once they are gone, everything falls apart. If they can handwave that away, a new race is easy in comparison.
  5. While I don't really like the reaction system, it spams my inbox with 'someone reacted to your post!' I do suppose it is amusing noticing how easily people are confused here on the forums. Any post longer than a paragraph will apparently confuse everyone.
  6. I am not quite positive about that, there are no longer non-humans in Cantha. So I feel like if they are released as a playable race, it will be sometime after EoD.
  7. We have at least three, maybe more NPCs going "Oh my god, what was that magic!? We have never seen it before! How did you channel the Mists!?" It may never have been talked about in the personal story, but you've also done missions with these people, and they don't really bat an eye when you do Rev magic, but when Rytlock does, it is suddenly all weird and new.
  8. Yes, because A-Net cares for the story. XD Now, excuse me while I make a Revenant and play through the personal story line, and then do HoT to meet the brand new never seen before profession. And then do IBS, I heard the story was really well made and not at all rushed through. Let's just ignore the idea that two creatures as powerful as gods fighting can cause wide spread destruction, but two creatures more powerful than the gods hitting each other AND causing a massive influx of magic from two Elder Dragons into the world at the same time is completely fiiiiiiiine. Also no, the old models use the same body frame as Charrs, but slightly different animations.
  9. It is around the same for me too, but I also have bills, rent, gas money, car upkeep, phone, internet, food, and insurance to also worry about. There will be times where I also have to ration out food as well, as at times that can also be expensive. $30 can be a bit much as a result, I had to really consider whether buying PoF was worth it for quite a while and only just recently purchased it. EoD on the other hand, I am somewhat relieved because unlike PoF I have absolutely no urge at all to purchase it. If they believed fishing was one of the best selling points of EoD, then I feel I am not missing out on anything.
  10. 3, I am not excited or hate it. It's just brutally underwhelming, I am already rather tight on cash already, so I need a reason to buy it. While story is nice, I don't really have much faith in it after the Zhaitan and the Icebrood Saga, I'd argue that even the Mordremoth fight felt rushed as well, and I can just Youtube those. I hate to say it, but I feel story is GW2's biggest weakness, there are so many dues-ex machina and unsatisfying ending that it makes me skeptical on anything involving story. The content they have teased is brutally underwhelming, fishing is something I have seen in almost every MMORPG, and in almost all of those MMORPGs I have ignored that mechanic. Even fully introducing the Mini-Game system GW2 was going to have at launch would have been more exciting, we still even have them scattered around the map especially in Divinity's Reach. But fishing? I understand that A-Net doesn't want to break the game anymore than what mounts and gliders have introduced, but fishing is more for a bonus thing like sitting in chairs, not expansion buying worthy. So the only real reason I can see to buy the expansion is the Elite Specs, and I am rather happy with my Tempest so far, the Weaver was underwhelming, and the third spec is likely going to be another piano glassy cannon that I am not interested in. So unless Ele gets an amazing spec that I feel can compete with my current Weaver in terms of ease of use, utility, and defenses, or at least something in the expansion that I feel is worth buying it for. $30 is a lot of money, and I can only spend about that much on non-essentials a handful of times throughout the year.
  11. They could also go mace as well. For offhand they can still go Torch, Mace, or Pistol. Eles still have a lot of melee options.
  12. Both of them are rather meh, while I don't mind either of them being a player race, besides my eyes already bleeding from all the glowing that players do already. But they both have that feeling of trying to be cool from a teenager's perspective and it just doesn't appeal to me enough to play either. Also there is like next to no lore on Largos, which isn't enough to get invested in. Also why not just use a light blue Sylvari and use the Largos wings and mask? You won't even be able to tell the difference. I am quite sure I have seen it in the development videos, but since the search is rather fruitless anyways, as any search for old stuff tends to wind up like this, https://www.arena.net/blog/video-growing-the-sylvari I suppose I cannot really argue against you. And also yes, I know it doesn't mention anything about Tengus in there, it's mostly an example.
  13. I asked around a bit on the off-chance someone actually remembered where it came from, and we found out that most of the older development stuff was removed. So chances are, it doesn't even exist anymore sadly. But we also found something interesting that may make Tengu a bit more viable from the wiki, most Tengu use the same body mesh as Charr just different animation, so barring gloves, boots, and helmets (maybe), what fits on a Charr will fit on a Tengu. They still likely won't be playable, and I wouldn't hold my breath, but it is something I wanted to share.
  14. I use Earth elementals every time I fight because I am too lazy to use my one brain cell to live when I can just use a practically immortal meat shield to take the hits for me. I also like staff because I like the utility and range of it. It's a questionable build, but at the same time I rarely die, or even have to think about what I am doing more than 'hide behind the Earth elemental and press buttons'.
  15. Early development was an open book, and I really don't want to sift through about a days worth of development videos to search for it. To make it worse, it was an off-handed topic among one of the development videos that lasted I wanted to say about a minute. I rather people not believe me than search through all of that. I can't even remember if it was on Twitter or Youtube.
  16. It was a very old video where they were talking about the Sylvari, they also went a bit in depth about their plans on making the tengu city beyond the wall and Tengu playable, but then scrapped it early in development. Sylvari were the last race created, and made after the scrapped Dominion of they Wind as they felt they were more unique.
  17. Actually, Tengu were planned on being one of the playable races, but that was stopped last second to introduce Sylvari. They were then hinted at being playable in the future, especially when you went to the wall in Lion's Arch, talking to them hinted that they would join the war if Primordus became more of a problem. It is actually why there are so many Tengu request threads as a result, because they kept heavily implying early game that they had plans to make them playable.
  18. A good portion of the end-game is mostly just cosmetic gathering and fashion, a new race gives a new reason to go for aesthetics that someone would otherwise not go for. Not everyone will go for it, just like I doubt anyone is going to buy EoD for fishing. Plus it's not like the developers really care about how it is going to impact the earlier content. We still have Charr in the Citadel calling Gaheron a threat and a charr is planning on taking him down, and also everything mounts ruin. But if they did go for the race, it would likely be an unlock after doing a story quest, and the race itself would likely have little more than a singular personal story quest and not have the Core, HoT, or PoF story available to them, one because they weren't around for those times and secondly it is just a lot of work. I'd like to see them, but there is more important mechanics to add, like reeling in a fish or making jumping puzzles and HoT super easy.
  19. I would love some boons, a lot of Ele support feels very subpar, and staff feels like it is trying to be a support weapon, but not really committing to it.
  20. Yee, I have seen it, though doing so is rather complex and a lot of professions can do it a bit easier than Ele. But it does show that the profession is not in dire straits. It does a lot of good things all at the same time, but doesn't exactly excel, and trying to weave all the good stuff together is rather complex in high stress situations and hurts my walnut brain. I feel all professions have a bit of a weakness, some are a bit more crippling than others, like I really enjoyed Reaper until I ran with a train through HoT and realized that Reaper is molasses, and only made worse as I also have no mount. Meanwhile Ele feels like it just wants to be everything at the same time like me when ADHD strikes me. It's fun, I like the style, but the high skill gameplay of being both high dps and survivable is outside my scope of level. But it doesn't seem to be absolutely terrible like I see on the forums.
  21. Elementalists can be rather bulky, between aggro managing using four earth elementals that can survive several nukes, a rather easy access to a stunbreak, protection, and stability, as well as a lot of healing abilities. My Tempest can survive a bit more easily than my Reaper or Herald when playing passively. The trade off though is that the DPS is BAD, the set-up takes a while, and the DPS rotation would bore people to death. So it isn't the way I always play, but if there is difficult content and I don't feel like using my brain at all, it's pretty solid, which is fitting because it's mostly Earth. It's not as good as Reaper or Herald for solo play as both of them can actually kill things, but when focused on living ele can technically solo things if just because it's not going to die. I would rate Elementalist, beating things to death with a spoon while wearing adamantium armor out of ten. In terms of solo ability.
  22. And it isn't the prices, it's the selection. If you play as a Human, the gem store is pretty good and has all the options you want for pretty much any type of human you want from Cantha, to Elona, to Divinity's Reach of various social classes. All the other races are rather limited on choices, to make matters worse, most of those options aren't even available. To give an example, there are currently no outfit options for a typical Asura or Charr, while technically they exist, they are not currently being sold. This is rather bad, as both of them tend to have some rather unique aesthetics, and not much really works well for them if the person is going for a traditional look. This means for outfits if someone wishes to use them for leveling up they are restricted to the universal Cooks and Wedding costume. which is a casual and formal outfit, both do not look great for combat if that is the type of aesthetic they are going for. Or spending transmutation charges, which isn't ideal if you are leveling or gearing. I am not asking for more race specific clothing (Even though that would be very much amazing), but at the very least one combat outfit of each race being available at any given time in the gem store. Gliders are also in the same issue, the current gliders available are Human or elementalist magic, with some other aesthetics like bird/angel wings and mursaat, there is also one charr glider. There are a decent number of gliders that would fit the base aesthetic for Asura, Norn, and Sylvari, however none of those are currently being sold either at the moment. To make matters even weirder, there are still Christmas and Halloween stuff in the store in July, yet if I want to have an Asura with an Asura costume and glider I am out of luck until the time comes around and they decide to sell them again, and I think this is the only game with multiple races with very clear aesthetic differences that is like this. There are people who like to stay within the aesthetics of their race, and only selling them once in a blue moon is harming the game more than helping.
  23. Hi everyone, I am coming back and only have HoT so I cannot get the second Elite Professions. I am mostly a solo player with some rather poor hand eye coordination due to some problems with my body, which also makes me also too unreliable to group up often. With that out of the way, I wish to ask, what is the easiest class to play that is the least demanding of me and forgiving to play as for solo gameplay? I am very patient, so it doesn't need high DPS either, just a lot of survivability and some AoE for grinding materials. And thank you in advanced.
