I don't think Protector's Strike is a block tho, so not the mace 😕 It would be cool if it was for example a block for 2-3 seconds. Like it's on warrior's shield or rev mace(?).

I think some traits that rely on Aegis should be just updated, or a trait that gives the aegis back could be added. I'd personally prefer insta activated engi kits over tomes which I sometimes interrupt or toolbelt skills, but we have what we got. Old guardian tomes used as elites had a charm but nothing else. Every class excels at something. Necros have their corrupts going crazy, guardians (well it's in the name, duh) guarding allies abilities, and so on. We should be looking for more VARIETY in good builds. The best thing for me about firebrand in pve at least is that it can swap around a lot of traits to adjust to situations. And that's what I expected of this class in 2012 when i first played it. It has it's charm and feel to it, and I don't get it why people hate it so much. It's a game to have fun, is it not? Also it's funny how this topic is mostly one armchair commander's rampage. My guess is we will be seeing more of those builds that will many gaps in the future like EoD brought more Alac/Quick givers. I don't think a reasonable rework of firebrand is a priority or should be. Some other classes could use the love now (glances at sad warrior mains) when mechanist and few more rose to power.

I think it would be great if Holy Reckoning worked with Battle presence (sharing might as now sharing alac works). It looks like it's bugged now and doesn't work. That would be somewhat on par with Staff mirage and alac mechanist with proper build/gear. Zooming around with F1/2/3 is super fun ^.^

On topic of outdated and too static abilities - sword 3 needs a rework. It feels awful to be rooted in place, especially in new content and new Spec, Willbender, which is supposed to be mobile. Yet the poster boy weapon (sword) contradicts the spec.

I guess this Internal Cooldown part is a nerf if we kill stuff to quickly because of the ICD on trait. But still getting pages while IN TOME is huge QoL improvement. Before this I'd usually drop my tome prematurely when I knew something is going to die. Now I just enjoy doing metas with my book open (imagination flashbacks to guardian tomes [*]) and just constantly CCing/tagging mobs around 😄

My only problem with alac willbender is not the Virtues traitline where we take Battle Presence (which is a cool synergy, I wish Virtues got a re-visit after Willbender, cause some traits don't seem to work with it), but the requirement to hit stuff to produce alac. While I personally like the design idea, it just looses to other alac providers in downtime phases which happen pretty often in new strikes. I feel like I'm a "discount alac" in groups because of this 😕 Also I've seen many people ask now the alac build works, apparently the traits, especially tooltip for Battle Presence, don't explain it well enough.

This 😅 Also FB mantra no longer giving Aegis is just a hidden nerf to map explorers and gatherers 😛 Also I wonder why do people forget that we have separate game balance for PvE/PvP/WvW...

Well in open world I can now sit in tome spamming 3-4-5 and getting pages back. When I want to go for my normal rotation I just drop tome with weapon swap after doing my usual 5 pages, so I it's all fine to me.

Dunno about that, I find Weaver a lot more spammy, cause with firebrand you only enter 1 tome, and ele/holo have more swapping, especially if u use 2 kits. When I play FB i can rest for the most part compared to those two. I'll just drop it here: Judge for yourself 😛

Well, also heavy armor. But as for longbow it's fine in fights like strike when u need range 🙂 I had cases even in raids when I could pull of a bit more damage on longbow than sword/focus.

Maybe go for celestial gear first? Snow Crows have a nice Celestial HFB build: https://snowcrows.com/builds/guardian/firebrand/heal-firebrand And there was a Celestial Quickness build somewhere. I actually use the same gear set for both (full celestial + runes of traveler), just swap traits a bit.

Afaik when they changed Scourge heal, there was also a trait that as a damage loss would give you this barrier for 5 targets back, why not do this again here? I admit that this easy to access Aegis allowed to skip some stuff, it also was fairly short and well, blocking only one hit. So a good use (timing) of it was required in most situations and that was the fun bit for me. It really is not that much defense if all 3 charges are used mindlessly off-cooldown. I'd happily sacrifice some dps so I could shield some fellow players when they learn new content as I enjoy those hero moments and they are the reason I play guardian a lot. For the past year I've tanked all the raid bosses on FB, because I'm comfy with the class and just preferred it over Chrono and co. Usually it required a few brain cells to use Aegis at the right time to shield some attacks and maybe a dodge or two. Now with perma protection and resolution I noticed I can pretty much afk where previously I had to spare a dodge, or swap a trait so I have some more defense. Just less gaming, less fun.

Not only is the noise annoying, but the slow moving orb is just so unusable in many scenarios, while other classes like necro don't even have projectiles on scepter, but insta hit 😕

I had a similar issue today - Braham was invisible and his HP bar in event window was 100% all the time. We were hitting air for some time until the event progressed (he was still 100% hp on event panel) and after the cutscene the models rendered normally for both Braham and Ryland. DX11. I use fairly new SSD for gw2.

No progress for me either 😕 And I say it after dodging about 50 Tsunamis.

It is too slow, and I think I somehow managed few times to interrupt it after the cast bar showed it's done... so especially not great in a pack of mobs and AoEs of new open world maps.

It's sad that the animations and sound effects basically ended in trash. I understand QoL is important, but there was something awesome about going all out when pushing that last charge of mantra. Also we could have kept some voice lines as random when activating mantra charges. What is my biggest problem with mantras right now is... they used to stand out more, were easy to differentiate by glance. Now the icons are icon similar to each other. If you do a QoL change, maybe do it so it doesn't improve one bit and make other bit worse 😞

The old tomes were awesome, too bad we didn't get them fully back with firebrand spec. I guess the closest what you can get is legendary focus The Binding of Ipos, but it also is not really guardian-like looking 😞
