  1. K so, they probably work with a high throughput, low-level language like C/C++, I assume it's just 1 16-bit integer to represent this information, with the max of 4 "dye" slots per item, this should amount to around 8 bytes of data per item. Then they can retrieve the actual color and text from an array, using that int as an index, like See http://www.shodor.org/~efarrow/trunk/html/rgbint.html for more information on how it's possible to encode RGB values into a 32-bit int. This table of colors can easily fit into a "permanent memory allocation" for just 524kb tops on the client, the server probably doesn't even have to bother loading this array. And also this "table of colors" probably has way less than 65 thousand colors. With this technique you get away with storing color with just 8 bytes, suppose you have 284 slots, it's 2272 bytes max per character, plus an account max of 4080 bytes from having 17 bank tabs of 30 slots; Material storage probably doesn't have an "item extra information" part, I assume it's just a long array of "amounts" With this, each account should store about 4kb plus 2kb per character in dye information. Suppose the average account has a lot of alts, even if you suppose at 32kb per account in dye information, that would be 312MB to store the entire dying system for 10 million accounts, it's not a lot really
  2. Every time I went to Dragon's End meta it was either tedious or just frustrating and the rewards were not worth the time investment. Also the Turtle requires Strike Missions which are also niche game modes and these ones are not optional, at least the crappy DE meta can be entirely skipped, the Strike Mission not only cannot be skipped, it requires a very far away story mode quest to unlock. Edit: Saddens me, I would rather the meta be good then skippable, but alas, kitten this damned turtle and this shti expansion altogether i don't care. Having bought End of Dragons feels like having been scammed.
  3. And how is that a problem tho? isn't that how EVERY other meta in the game works? Open world events are supposed to be open, collaborative and anonymous, fire-and-forget. Hop-in, participate, loot, bail. This one requires LFP to do and most of the time you'll not be able to enter the map because it will be full.
  4. yeah true. HoT back then was very trash, gliders even only worked on HoT maps. I just ignored HoT completely, to this date I haven't gotten any far in it's masteries (which are absolute parasitic design) other than gliding. But I do like the metas, they're fun and rewarding, I can "just go" to any map and participate without doing the story or progressing in the masteries so I think in general it's decent. Also I don't need to LFP to do the metas, I can just go and participate. Now EoD has a Turtle which is locked behind very niche game modes, they prefered to make the meta optional than making it playable, the jadebot is a nice idea with a terrible execution (specially being different per character and not having more slots even with Tier 10 core), it's waypoint is an absolute joke. Also EoD brought severe nerfs to all classes to make the new elite specs more appealing, which is a HUGE kitten move from ANET, many popular builds were broken beyond repair, making many players unable to play in their comfortable favorite styles. I had to switch from Mesmer to Necromancer because my Mirage build and playstyle became unviable They even achieved the ultimate screw up of making FISHING frustrating, if that isn't a total mess I don't know what is Edit: And also, most elite specs on EoD are really not even good for PVE, EoD is to me is a disaster
  5. It took me a very long time and effort to unlock my mounts I want to use them everywhere I even want a "Disable Jumping Puzzles" option so that I can mount and glide absolutely everywhere
  6. I'm here to play a game, not to work and make Excel sheets, the game needs to be playable by the wide audience and the wide audience doesn't care for extreme optimization. This is an open world event, it should be doable by random uncoordinated people that's the point of random dynamic events in the first place
  7. Pains me that they refuse to add just 5 more minutes to the dragons end final meta to make it kinda playable Its a completely broken non functional map meta, a total flop Edit: its also bad that they nerfed old specs so much to push the new specs, makes eod feel like a scam
  8. Honestly it saddens me that they decided to make the meta optional instead of making it playable. Just add 5 minutes to the time limit and it will work, it's idiotic that an open world meta has Raid-level DPS check
  9. Suggestion: Add Elite Specialization name to the Specialization Collection names. Example: Raname the collection Quietus to Harbinger: Quietus So that we can find our specialization collections easier with the search function.
  10. Here's my suggestion, instead of buying/unlocking teleport scrolls, we get to unlock free teleportation to a specific waypoint, that waypoint would show in a different color on the map so that we know it's a "Teleport scroll waypoint" Why: - The inventory mess caused by teleport scrolls and their associated teleport scroll bags is an utter inconvenience and an ugly inventory space / shared slots cashgrab. Even if there's more chore to turn a teleport scroll into a slotless free waypoint, let's get this teleport scroll mess solved kitten
  11. yeah in other RPG games these "talk to this, fetch that" mechanic is called "quest" I don't know if you can get it in another way, but if not you have to do the story again up to "Scenic Route" to get Jade Bot core for each character. You get the mastery, you have the jade bot, but you can't use it until you equip a core on it, and so far the only way that I know to get the core is doing the story
  12. It's frustrating having to endure all the talk for a second, third time Specially in end of dragons because you need to do the quests to get a Jade Bot Core for EACH CHARACTER which is a damned kitten
  13. There's this other game that I play where I can use waypoints for absolutely free at any time even in combat and it makes GW2 feel absurdly outdated.
  14. The game is supposed to be this, a game, fun. They're optimizing the fun away from the game. No one wants to play a game where you mindlessly keep just struggling, the game is supposed to be rewarding too, as of right now Arena Net keeps removing the fun from the game and adding boring hours of boring quests and boring mob fights and boring maps where you just boringly struggle to move by. At least with the old "lazy builds", it was "kinda" possible to get by the boring parts fast and get to the good parts quicker, but they insist on making the game 60% boredom, 40% frustration
  15. I second this. I know that they nerfed rune of tormenting mainly because Harbinger applies way too much Torment, but they could have simply added a small cooldown timer instead of killing the set/strategy. They're optimizing the fun out of the game
