  1. I've pretty much gotten the impression that they've been leading up to a parting of the ways with those two.
  2. Hey ya'll...sorry to necro this older post, but I've been struggling with finding a Soulbeast build that fits me. I've been using Paper Roll's Condi Druid build and I've been successful with that one. It's great for PvE meta events and helping out with bounty trains, etc. However, I really want to learn to love Soulbeast and I just can't. I've tried Paper Roll's build (video posted above...and here is the build editor link - http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAUd%2FlZUw8Yf9tu62ZoWaPnNrUm18CgE-zxIY1o+vMiLVDsq85EEu%2FK+G-e) that uses a combo of Trailblazer and Dire gear, and I struggle with it a lot. I find I'm constantly getting bogged down when there's a lot of AOE damage flying around and you're having to dodge and get out of damage circles quickly. It's not just this build...it's every Soulbeast build that I've tried. I'm kind of at a loss. I don't have this issue with the Druid, as I seem to have a lot more endurance regeneration and evades so I can pretty much ping pong all over the place as needed. I really want to be able to do this with a Soulbeast. Another complaint I have is that there doesn't seem to be any movement speed boosts with the Soulbeast...except when you take the Beastmaster trait line (which pretty much all SB builds skip and take Wilderness Survival instead). You have this as part of the Druid line (if you take the trait)...and to me it's essential to my success in being able to get around quickly when I need it. I have had some success with Soulbeast in WvW, even over playing the Condi Druid. I'm not good at WvW by any means, but I can at least hold my own 1 x 1 with a Soulbeast (for the most part). I'm not really interested in heavy WvW anyways...I just do it for the reward tracks I need. BUT...with a Soulbeast lacking in movement speed, I can't keep up with groups. I can't get anywhere on those maps, actually...it's like snail speed. And if you don't have a Warbeast, you're kinda stuck. Any suggestions you guys might have to improve my play with a Soulbeast would be great. As I said, I've tried Paper Roll's Condi build above. I've tried the Condi Soulbeast from Metabattle (tried with Viper gear, which is a complete glass cannon...Trailblazer, and full Celestial). I've tried Power Soulbeast (which was great for trash mobs and farming hearts, but abysmal for me to just roll right into meta events I come across).
  3. I missed Season 1 (will forever be salty about that), but from what I've read and seen via YouTube, I got the impression that he was trying to court her (good lord I feel old), but she wasn't having it after having seen the 'glitz and glam of city life'. The whole 'what are you gonna do with your life' thing was such a snub...like if she only knew, lol. Oh well, her loss. I didn't like her anyways. I kinda got the impression that the devs are leaving the humanoid NPC's open for fan ships. I know Kass and Jory are a thing, so that ship has sailed, but Logan is now open for all the folks out there lusting after him for their player characters (*cough* more like lusting after his voice actor *cough*). Canach is available (so far). Braham is available (so far). Even Caithe is available (technically now that she can't really pine away after Faolin forever). As I said above, I know there are folks who think shipping is silly or stupid and that it has no place in games, but there is a whole other subset of players out there who do ship their ships...and if the devs are leaving these characters out there for fandom shipping, then that's more than fine by me. Or maybe it's just a happy coincidence.
  4. Ah, ok. Charr was the first race I ever played going back to 2012, so I don't remember the personal story at all, short of that Rytlock was in it. I'm a Norn girl for the most part, lol. Maybe I'll have to force myself to play another Charr.
  5. Did I miss something...does the Charr PC's warband show up during IBS? I don't have a Charr that far along because I honestly can't stand playing them (too big and clunky to move)...my one Charr is just my armorsmith mule.
  6. Sounds more like fandom shipping than anything, but there's nothing wrong with that. Heck, I ship my main character, a female Norn Commander, with Braham (developed throughout Season 4 and IBS). She's only two years older than he is (not to mention he grows up quite a bit during Season 4), they go through a hell of a lot together, and they're both Norn...and given the Norn tradition of couples needing to be of equal footing when it comes to legend, it just...fits. (Like seriously, with the legend a Norn Commander grows, who is even left at that point, lol). At least to me it fits. Some of the stuff that is said during Season 4 totally makes it work if you read into it, and IBS goes even further. (I get it, not everybody ships their characters with anybody, but I like to if a good ship sails my way, lol.) I do think Taimi and Gorrik are adorable together and I can't wait to see more of them with EoD. I really don't care much about Kass and Jory...it's not that I dislike them, I just don't really care about them. I'll miss Canach's snark. I'll miss Rytlock, but boi needs a break. And of course, my girl will miss Braham, lol (tho I know he needs a break too).
  7. It feels like forcing something that doesn't come naturally, lol...like when my grandfather tried to make me a righty as a kid when I'm actually a lefty haha.
  8. Mine is the Razer Huntsman Elite with the linear optical switches (super comfy to type on). It feels like a standard size keyboard, compared to a lot of the mini keyboards I see out there. In fact, finding a full-size and still stylish keyboard was rather difficult. But I also don't have big hands...at least I don't think I do.
  9. I watched the video someone posted above and though I was made to feel like a peon for my mouse clicking, I do see his point and I also see his point that I need to find something that works for me...because what works for someone else likely won't work for me. I am able to do most of the content I want to do, even with using mouse clicks...I don't PvP (at all), and I don't raid (at all). I don't want to. I solo almost 100% and only LFG for meta stuff and trains when they are available (I don't make my own groups) or I'll just join an open squad when I come across a commander tag. I've only barely touched Fractals and I really don't have interest in them short of doing them to get what I need for specific gear (needed to do them for Mawdrey and the Tigris precursor). Same with WvW...though I have found it fun, it is a little too high pressure and intense for me to enjoy short of just going into it with the goal of getting what I need for Legendary weapons (Gift of Battle, etc). I'll have to play around with trying out some keybinding...at the very least dodge, weapon swap, and stow weapon (which I'll be honest and say I didn't even know stow weapon existed).
  10. Sorry for the necro, but I've just started to contemplate keybinds and I'm at a loss. I've been a casual player of MMO's for years but I've been wanting to step up my game. I've always just used the mouse to execute the skills. I wouldn't say I'm an amazing player, but I'm definitely someone who doesn't die constantly when doing meta content (Dragonfall, Verdant Brink, etc). I'm good enough (with my lowly mouse clicks) to help other people and to solo some Champions (not all, but some...and it definitely depends on the class as to which Champions I can solo...Ranger is my main btw). But I want to be better, and I'm thinking at this point, the next step has to be keybinding. To that end...I don't see how it can physically be possible to control movement with wasd and still be able to hit any of my number keys while still having fingers on wasd. I can handle tapping q and e (and maybe r)..maybe shift and caps with my pinky...but any of the number keys is out and the f keys might as well be a mile away, lol. I have a standard keyboard (Razer Huntsman). I have a standard mouse with center roller (is a button) and two buttons on the thumb side. I could get used to using those. Anything having to do with the numpad is out, because my hand is on the mouse. I'm kind of just at a loss trying to work this all out in my head, lol
  11. Just quoting this part as your post is...very long, lol. As I mentioned, a lot of the story is disjointed (overall, such as your mention of Braham's personality changes). I think most of it has to do with a combination of being rushed and too many cooks in the kitchen (too many writers). Just like with some television series that have a different writer for each episode...they can definitely end up giving viewers a figurative case of whip lash. But...I still get the overarching concept. With gaming, even single player games, I've had to learn to not set my expectations very high when it comes to well-written story. I can't think of a single game that has a perfect, or even near-perfect story. As for Logan and Jenna...I personally never liked Jenna. I don't know why...I just didn't. Maybe it's because I (personally) felt like he was just living his life entirely for someone else and forgot to become his own person in the process. Maybe I just like Logan just for his voice actor (Troy Baker), I dunno, lol. But I kind of always assumed they (the devs) broke up that ship to leave Logan open for player ships. Just like I think they're wavering on Kass and Jory because I'm sure a lot of players would love to have room for their own personal ships with those two characters. I get it...a lot of players don't ship, and some even find it stupid and silly that others do, but then there's the whole other playerbase that does ship. (I do...I personally ship Braham in his current mid-twenties state with my main character and Commander...a Norn only a couple years older than he is.) So I kind of really thought that might of been part of the intention with breaking up Logan and Jenna. And by me saying "ancient" in regards to GW1...yes, it was hyperbole. I would have hoped that was obvious, lol. 2006 in the realm of video games is too old for a lot of people to have patience to play. Controls were clunky. Optimization was even clunkier. Some older games from around that same time won't even run on Win 10. And yeah, graphics are valid for me. Sorry. I don't game on a 3090 for nuthin', lol. (Honestly, I do 3D artwork so that's why I have such an overkill card, but I do put graphics into my consideration on whether or not I can stomach playing a specific game.) And don't get me wrong, I can play games that are older. I do play 'The Lord of the Rings Online', which is from 2007. But that game has received graphical updates and now runs on a 64bit client. GW1 (for me) felt even clunkier. However, I see that there have been graphical updates as well as optimization tweaks from 2018 that helped improve GW1 for folks who want to try it now. I'm going to try it...I just hope I can get past the clunky UI and controls.
  12. Yeah, when I played GW1 that was before Eye of the North came out, so the game was still relatively newish and GW2 hadn't even been conceived. I remember playing my ranger and having such a hard time. The only class I think I'd want to try playing again is ranger...that's my main class in GW2...I've always loved ranger/pet classes in any game I can play them.
  13. That's good to know...when I tried it, I couldn't get anywhere alone. It was pretty much insta-death. I read now that there are heroes that can be added as AI party members. I also see there have been some graphical updates. I was already able to hook my old account together with my GW2 account (so I got some of the legacy outfits in the Hall of Monuments)...it might be worth trying again. Only wish we could play as a Norn as that is my preferred race!
  14. That right there is the problem. Folks can't be expected to play a completely different game to get an understanding. Not when it comes to an MMO. GW1 is ancient...and unplayable to many due to the mechanics and the graphics. I played it once upon a time and I had a hard time doing so because I don't group and that game doesn't play like this one. You need to group to be able to do it. I hit a wall because I don't group, and I gave up. I would love to be able to play GW1...unless things have changed from when it first came out. There should be a way to get the important info you need for story content...within this game. Whether it's through dialogue, or recap cutaways, or books you find somewhere. Somehow...it needs to be there within this game. The wiki has been my only way of getting information on a lot of things. Single-player games as a series, yes I can see it...totally fine. Play one to understand two. But not MMO's.
  15. Yeah, I get that...a lot of MMO's have similar problems with story, though. ESO the story is so lackluster I just can't stay interested despite loving Elder Scrolls as a genre and loving the game world itself. SWTOR the story from the last two expansions has been completely hand-waved away like it never existed so nothing our characters did mattered one lick. That, coupled with a completely toxic fandom, caused me to leave the game entirely. The only MMO that seems to have an over-abundance of story is LoTRO and that's because they have Tolkien's entire universe to play with. I love that game and it will always have a special place in my heart...to the point where I still subscribe if only to support them in hopes they will continue to tell stories from Middle Earth. (They did announce a huge graphics overhaul they've been working on so *fingers crossed* the game will be brought back to relevancy at some point in the not too distant future.) One thing of note...I do believe we got a tiny bit of backstory on the Forged. Not sure if I'd call it backstory, but if I remember right, we do learn that Balthazar had worked with Joko and Joko was the one who created the Forged for him...or at least gave him the means to create the Forged...somehow transferring souls into the machine parts. Then Balthazar betrayed Joko and that's how Joko ended up in the Domain of the Lost. I don't quite know what the point of the Forged are...short of being goons, though. Now...I really wish we got more development on Joko. Like who he is and how he came to power and what are his motivations, like does he just want everybody to die? I really like his character and Season 4 was one of my favorites just because of him. He's fabulous, lol. But I feel like we don't learn enough about him. Like we get to Elona and are expected to know who Joko is and how he took over.
  16. Guess I'm in the minority. I actually liked Season 4 and IBS and I like Braham's character. He was annoying the first time through, back when there was nothing past Season 3, but the more times I play through the content, the more his character growth and progression makes sense, especially the growth we see out of him in Season 4. So he was kind of a *haha, we're going to replace the word with kitten?* during S3E3...what angsty young adult with parental issues isn't? And his anger at his mother (for dying) is pretty obviously transferred onto the PC (he's not really angry at the PC). Also makes sense. But I guess a lot of people can't look past that. I enjoyed IBS so much that I was at the edge of my seat with each release, wondering what would happen to Braham. I honestly didn't think he'd make it out alive, like with Trahearne, but I'm glad he made it. Anyways...just wanted to throw it out there that there are those out there who don't dislike the story and don't dislike his character. Is it all executed flawlessly? Hell no, but what MMO storyline is? Things get rushed, and because there are multiple writers, things can feel disjointed. But the overall point comes across and I can follow it. I hope that EoD can give us an equally engaging storyline. I'm actually moderately disappointed that it looks like Braham is done. He's been hung up on the coat rack because so many people hate him (for whatever reason I'll never understand as already stated). Jory and Kass, I honestly couldn't give two flying poops about...I don't not like them...I just don't care enough about their characters to have an opinion on them. But I think that's who we're going to have for EoD. I can only hope that the lack of Braham is made up for with more Taimi and Gorrik! Maybe we'll see some more growth out of Logan...I love that he's finally shed the shackle that was Jenna...I wanted to see him get out in front of that and become his own person. PRAISE JOKO! and KA-BRAHAM! That is all.
  17. I have this issue as well...seeing it for the first time as it's the first time I've equipped a shortbow on my Ranger. Playing on the DX11 beta. RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra w/ Ryzen 9 5900x. Absolutely annoying and makes the shortbow pretty much not even usable for me. Unfortunately don't have any legendary skins to try.
  18. I've been a fan of Braham, even though I missed Season 1. Seems like most of the hate shoveled on him comes from his talking back to the Commander during LWS3...which I actually appreciated. It's always nice to see an NPC (in any game) not just tow the line and instead have their own goals and aspirations, no matter how much we (our characters) may or may not agree with them. I can understand why he acted the way he did in that episode, and again going into LWS4, even if I (as my character) found his actions rash and annoying (and childish). But he grew through it and I enjoyed watching that development and growth. Maybe it's because my main character is a female Norn only a couple years his senior.
