Technically they dishonored the accounts (essentially a $40 fine). These offenders were probably then welcomed into private Discords with the head PVP dev at the time to further help influence the game mode.

Remove the duo option in ranked, not unranked. Play with your friends, but don't game the rankings together. Not everyone does, but those who do, do so flagrantly. It's a bad look.
