  1. While a nice idea, I think this boss is watered down too much with no real mechanics present or responsibilities needed.Freezie encounter at least had the rolling snowball which someone had to kite away from the rest of the group in order to kill the boss successfully. During this ice construct fight you can just dps in the middle ignoring most of the damage and outhealing it. It can be done with 2-3 dps classes in the squad. In order to get some raid-feeling these strike missions should force awareness and give more member responsibilities.
  2. Lately I usually allow myself to buy 25 keys per month from my paycheck just for that short thrill of opening them. Might as well call it my guilty pleasure, and also the way to support the game. I have been doing this for the past two years. So I have opened around 600 chests in the last two years.Majority of times I get both exclusive items from uncommon category (gliders, mount skins, wepon skins etc) from monthly 25 chests.I have received a bundle of 3 golden black lion chest keys three times in total. On average I get 5-6 cases out of 25 when I receive 5 items. Most of the times they are weapon skins.I have never received a drop of glyph.I have got two home node drops. And luckily enough I have received 2 permanent contracts - bank and repair.
  3. I get this POI approaching with a mount from above. When landing towards ground floor from above you have to carefully land by the walls, because if you fall too fast you will trigger teleport out. Other than that I got this POI with mounts for most of my characters (10 or so)
  4. That's because Junundu event gives amalgamated gemstone and is faster/easier than Maw of Torment.
  5. Well you can't play in LS4 maps without owning Path of Fire, so that is not an unexpected requirement. Getting trade contracts is the least of the problems here. Literally any chest in PoF maps, any PoF daily, adventure (including griffon challenges) gives you these contracts. Also if you have any Tyrian Exchange Voucher from black lion chests, use them to get 250 of those contracts per voucher.
  6. To my understanding yes. You get 4 HC chests from 4 maps, but only from 4 fixed events.in PoF you also can get 4 HC chests, but for Vabbi and the Desolation you can pick which of the two events to do.I haven't tried doing both metas in Vabbi or Desolation, but according to patch notes you shouldnt get two of the same type chests per account per day.
  7. So you can only do one meta per map? Seems an odd implementation - there’s no incentive to do one if u did the other That's how they stated in the patch notes: "For consistency with their Heart of Thorns™ counterparts, the Chest of the Bazaar Raider and Chest of the Forged Hunter have been renamed Domain of Vabbi: Hero's Choice Chest and The Desolation: Hero's Choice Chest respectively.Hero's Choice chests have been added as rewards for defeating the doppelganger in The Path to Ascension meta-event in Elon Riverlands and the Choya Pinata event in the Casino Blitz meta-event in Crystal Oasis.Path of Fire™ Hero's Choice chests are now guaranteed to give three Pieces of Rare Unidentified Gear. An offering of one Amalgamated Gemstone replaces the choice that was previously a Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear. These chests will be obtainable once per account per day." So for Vabbi and Desolation you pick one of the two events per map to get the Hero's choice chest. But you will get only one that-map-specific chest per account per day.
  8. I think its only 4:Crystal Oasis - Casino/PinataElon Riverlands - Path to AscensionThe Desolation - either Junundu Rising or Maw of TormentDomain of Vabbi - either Forged with Fire or Serpent's Ire

  10. My bad, there are 4 hearts on the map.So for one character: 4hearts x 5 crystals = 20 crystals per day + short mining (5 crystals) + 5 crystals from Dragonfall = at least 30 crystals per day [20-30 mins] TOTAL 9 daystwo meta events = 10 more crystals per character per day. Thats 40 crystals per day per character. TOTAL 7 daysif you have more than one lvl 80 character it can take a few days, maybe even one. But don't burn out by rushing this.
  11. 3 hearts x 5 crystals each = 15 crystals per character per dayassuming you do minimal mining in the map and get just 5 more crystals per day from mining thats already 20 crystals per chracter per day. Of course you can mine more than 5 crystals per day.5 more crystals you buy from Dragonfall vendor for volatile magic. So if you have only one character - you can get at least 25 crystals per day (approx 20 minutes of time for hearts and mining). that would be around 13 days to get 250. However you get 5 crystals per character per day if you defeat Zohaquan and 5 (maybe 7) from specimen chamber meta. So two metas in that map will give you at least 10 more crystals per day. If you plan to do metas and need karma, I recommend buying the Karmic Retribution from Volatile Magic vendor in this map. The metas have a lot of mobs which all drop karmic retribution.Doing metas even once per day on the Sandswept Isles + hearts + quick mining is 30 crystals per day (+5 from Dragonfall vendor). 35 crystals per day = a week to get 250 crystals.
  12. I would not have stated the collection had i known what was involved. i done all the way up to sky scale saddle and gave up just over a week ago.Got up this morning and thought il give getting these currency's a try. I loged in went to sand swept isle and done the inquest heart to get Difluorite Crystal..and got nothing and loged out. Is it a bug then? every heart vendor in Sandswept isles is supposed to sell Bundle of Difluorite Crystals per character per day. i thought it was a reward for doing the heart. So i need buy them.i got 5 Difluorite Crystals .and a pounding headache. awesomeIts been like that in all LS3 and LS4 maps. After doing the heart you can buy limited amount of local currency for karma from that vendor.

  14. So dont take it as a grind. For example during the collection I have found some activities I have missed during mine gameplay. For example in Desert Highlands - Dwarven mines with those plates and I have completed those weapon skins. Or on LS maps I havent finnished map rewards. So now I have all corsair skins + as I have figured it out, its a good start for the new Vision trinket. Or just do metas on maps, enjoy them, because later on they will be dead as used to be. Or you can do WvW or PvP for reward track. Final reward is 10 + selectable 50 and I dont count previous rewards. As you can see there are more ways how to obtain currency. the whole collection is grind.repetitive tasks over and over and over.read all the threads on the forums and reddit about itgrind is what some mmorpg s use as a substitute for proper content.guild wars 2 has gave up its values and abandoned a lot of its loyal customers who came to the game because it claimed to be different.check out there manifesto from 2010.Can you please stop repeating the same stuff (you clinging to the manifesto) over and over again in different threads? We get it, you don't like the collection and you stopped at the skyscale saddle (I think you posted the same content message at least 4 times in these forums). Some of us pointed out to you that the grind here is purely optional as the mount is just ay style item giving you no advantage over others and is also tied to legendary item. And mastery points from skyscale track are just numbers which also give you no advantage. However you keep on ignoring those posts and still see everything only one way, there is no point trying to show you any other way by now. Just provide a different type of feedback instead of shuffling words from your default statement and reposting it every day. Thank you.
  15. There is more than 200 people here saying that material price is reasonable, and its a majority in this poll. And with risk of repeating myself I will just emphasize that there is no real grind needed for highest stat armor or weapons. All the essential expansion masteries are easily obtainable. Only luxury items, like this mount, require much more work. But gameplay-wise you have the same ceiling level as everyone else.Mastery points is just a shiny number which gives you no benefit (no loot scaling or related improvements). So not having some extra numbers because of mount mastery track is still in the category 'WANT', same applies to Raid masteries, which you probably don't have either and shouldnt worry yourself about.
  16. MMOs are a game of grinding. There are no exceptions. It is as core to the game design as jumping puzzles and secret doors are to platform games. What GW2 does differently, however, is that the grind is optional. You can see every story, and participate in every piece of content in the game without having to grind anything. You think I'm kidding? You don't even need to level crafting in this game to see all the content. WvW, Dungeons, T1 Fractals and Raids are all accessible wearing nothing but exotic gear, all of which is purchasable from the TP with gold you can buy with a credit card. All that is required of a player is to hit LV 80, assuming you don't use the free boost they give you. Compare that to other titles like WoW that require you to grind just to play the game. Do you think a new player to WoW can use the boost and jump right into 5 player / 10 player content? The game won't even allow them to queue up for it until they have grinding out new gear and increased their iLVL. GW2's grinds are optional, and mostly revolve around cosmetic accessories (like Legendaries). I do agree that this collection for the Skyscale is a misstep on ANET's part, and was way overboard for a mount, but that doesn't mean they have abandoned their original philosophy. If you don't want to grind, you don't have to, and will still be able to kill every boss available in every part of this game. No other MMO I'm aware of can boast that. guild wars 2 was advertised as a no grind game. this is what was said in there manifesto So if you love MMORPGs, you should check out Guild Wars 2. But if you hate traditional MMORPGs, then you should really check out Guild Wars 2. Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs. It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill; it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun rather than just having fun; and of course, now we got that grinding treadmill to progress our lvl and unlock a new item ie sky scale Grinding refers to the playing time spent doing repetitive tasks within a game to unlock a particular game item or to build the experience needed to progress smoothly through the game..You are facing grinding because you decided that you WANT to have the mount and you want it FAST. In reality you DON'T NEED it, because it is purely optional and even a luxury mount. I'm sorry that you have so many struggles with it, but this mount at this moment is not required for any content in the game other than showing off. You can visit Dragonfall vendor once a day and little by little gather the necessary amount of currencies with no grinding needed whatsoever. Maybe it is not a legendary item, but it is just as much a vanity thing as a legendary, just because it does not give you advantage in any game mode. You might as well be complaining that you decided that you want legendary weapon and omg it is so much grinding and currency needed. All the really necessary items (exotic armor/weapons; core mounts, gliding) to play the game are obtainable easily a.k.a. no grinding is needed. It is only normal that luxury items take more effort to obtain.
  17. What was the reasoning behind this specific maximum canopy height? Was it to prevent breaking out of maps or is it some technical limitations?
  18. You're not. I had more than enough of each currency as well, because I'm not the kind of person to spend everything I've got. I save up 1 or 2 stacks of most materials just in case I need them for future content. I also craft timegated items on a daily basis for the same reason, so I'm using my 2 stacks of charged quartz crystals now to earn some easy money by selling grow lamps and skyscale treats. I don't understand where this "I need to be told beforehand what to do" thing comes from, though. Just like any other collection in the game we find out what we need to do once it's released/unlocked. I don't believe it's ever been a thing where game companies release specifics of content before it's released. A general idea, maybe, but detailed information on all the things we need to do and spend? Nope. If anything, they would've told us that it's a series of collections, give a few general examples of the things we need to do, but that's it. We are not owed content information before content is released. It's a courtesy. Let me explain. Some of us don't consider GW2 a job and we don't have the time to endlessly grind away at things. Some of us, like myself, have disabilities where certain types of content just isn't possible to complete. Others don't want to do that content. It's nice to know before wading into any sort of epic quest type thing exactly what's going to be required, you know, so people can judge if it's #1 worth the time, #2 something they can do, and #3 if they can access everything they need to complete it. We knew everything that had to be done for Warclaw and Griffon. People made the choice of if it was worth it. Skyscale? It was purposely hidden from us. I honestly see no issue with putting all the steps of a very grindy, very timegated quest out there so players can go "Oh I can't do that so I won't start it" or "Oh, I can plan for that then". Would have been nice to know about the currency on Day One. Would have been nice to know about the quartz on Day One. Would have been nice to know just how big and timegated this was in Day One. kitten, I can look up exactly what I need to do to make any Legendary in the entire game, why should this be different? I'm real sure if people were not constantly surprised by timegates inside of timegates and materials that have to be grinded out, half the complaints would have died off because it would have been in the open - not some sadistic secret.I see your point and I totally agree that some beforehand information about requirements would have been met with different responses from the players. However, I don't recall Anet ever announcing requirements for any collection in advance. All the necessary achievements, collections and components for legendary weapons/armor etc. had been discover and made public by the player effort. We knew what was needed for Griffon because of the first players doing the collection and updating the wiki. Now, a week later after the release, we already have all the information about acquiring the Skyscale and those who are just starting can make a decision whether they want to go for it or not.
  19. "this mount and collection is way to much effort for to little reward"Since the mount isn't changing, you want to put less effort in order to obtain it.In other words you want to get closer to instant gratification :) Also crafting any legendary collection with its precursor will take you more time/money than this collection, aka the effort put in it is more than the effort you put in the mount collection. Example - Aurora. You are 15 days time gated just to get the back, which is 2 times more than the mount collection, at its previous state, after the change next week it will be 3 times ... you must be aware that tomorrow many players will have the mount. Also a friendly reminder that if you do not have the Charged Quartz you need for this mount, this mount takes 22 days, so no, Aurora is not "2 times more." For the backpack you couldn't skip the time-gate. The items from heart-vendors were accountbound. The items in this collection can be bought from TP, you can farm gold in some maps and buy it on the same day.
  20. Just because you couldn't get an optional mount as fast as you would have liked? Too bad. No, just because i'm being forced to replay maps/ hearts, like i said i have the time. Just don't force something on me. I did say this was the final push been a few things that got me looking around. btw speed of acquisition has nothing to do with it..But that's the thing - you don't have to! Its an OPTIONAL mount. You don't need it to progress story, or do meta in the new map or anything for that matter. Do things at your own pace and the currencies will accumulate in your storage. Even the jumping puzzle part can be overcome by crafting items, when you have enough gold just buy some and skip the JPs if you dont want to do it. I really don't see how you are forced to do this? If it would block any progress then I would understand.
  21. Just because you couldn't get an optional mount as fast as you would have liked? Too bad.
  22. Happy? Maybe thats an overstatement. I treat this collection like any other legendary collection but less-pricey. I don't head rush to do it until I burn out but I do it at my own pace.I didn't pay money for this episode, I got it for free and in order to get it's ultimate(!) reward I have to complete a large collection. Just like with Aurora last season. Or any other legendary weapon/armor sans insane material cost. This is fine by me. As I wrote before, Skyscale is not a must-have mount, there is nothing ingame that is doable exclusively using it. Its a bonus (luxury) mount and I think the requirements for it are just fine.
  23. The fact that we are comparing legendary gear with a mount shows how the whole system is flawed. We get mounts in this game just by progressing in the story or a collection that takes a couple of days to finish. If you like the trend to time gate stuff that wasn't before to the level of legendary gear, I hope you enjoy this game, because I surely don't. Look, you don't NEED to get this mount. Pretty much everything in the current maps can be reached/traversed with the core PoF maps. We used to get mounts with quick collection or events, but that was for the mounts which were necessary for progression. Consider Skyscale to be another luxury mount in par with Griffon. If you just for a moment stop and think of Skyscale as a legendary-type reward (and why not - in the saddle thread i posted that if anything Skyscale is far more functional than Aurora) then the time gate and mat requirements seem reasonable. The story would be different if obtaining this mount is required for progression in story or map events. But it is not, so there is no NEED to have it. There is only "I WANT" to have it.
  24. me too but they all need to get updated in the storymode :( Why? All you need is lvl 80 characters and the portal scroll/tp to friend to go to the map and do hearts/events.
  25. There is a high chance that this mount is the same for LS4 as Aurora for LS3, making the mat request reasonable. I see people throwing phrases here such as "the majority of people...". You don't know what the majority wants, needs or does unless you did a survey from a large sample of the population. Otherwise your 'majority' is just biased by those who complain out loud, I wonder what fraction of total players that is..
