  1. My participation went down from 66% to 25% (!!!) while doing the first phase of the maw. All while actively fighting enemies. What is this nonsense?  No wonder there's so many leechers around when you're getting actively punished for playing the game. I'll just sit on my skyscale and spam 2 from now on, too. Why bother when in the end I'm getting the same garbage tier loot anyway.

    Also, how in the hell is this still a problem? Did the studio forget everything it learned with HoT? Or is there nobody left at the company who remembers these lessons anymore?

  2. So tired of NPC talk spam appearing on top of my character obstructing my screen. I'm in the middle of combat and there's some random unrelated NPC dialogue preventing me from seeing what I'm fighting. I already disabled NPC voice because they just won't shut up, now I'm getting spammed with speech bubbles every 5 minutes.

    Can you get over yourselves? Combat readability already sucks and now I have a white box on top of my character all the time that cannot be disabled. Exactly in the spot where my target is on the screen. Hello?

  3. Just came back after a 6 month break trying to do events in Amnytas. 

    The map is dead. There's nobody joining events required for mastery points. The event with platforms where the game's pretending to be a badly done first person shooter is impossible to solo. Mapchat is dead. Tagging up does nothing. LFG does nothing. The bugged pre-event with clueless people upscaling it is frustrating. I tried for 3 hours and just alf f4'd in the end, this isn't worth wasting my Saturday for.

    Bonus shout-out to that one idiot in chat telling me to quit the game if I'm not enjoying it. Well, I guess I will. Ironically enough, at least this explains why everything's deserted.

  5. They're completely useless.

    Even if you die in a meta you can just take your time coming back from the wp. The loot will still be there and you'll get participation regardless.

    All post-PoF masteries are progression padding that get quickly forgotten. We didn't even get photo mode for jade bots, which was extremely low hanging fruit. Jade bots themselves also got completely dropped when they failed to become the next big skin seller.

    •  wvw drops to 45fps with only 100 players on the screen on i9 4090 because the game doesn't have player model LODs, and servers lag in any fight bigger than 30v30 because of everyone playing unaddressed 7 year old boon conversion meta
    •  pvp is a deadzone bot land
    •  2 whole builds per class actually used in endgame out of 3728 different stats, skills and traits combination with whole traitlines, skills, stats, runes and sigils NEVER USED
    •  15 year old engine with 10 year old graphics features. HDR? lol no. Ultrawide? Good luck. PBR? kek double u (does the game even support ARME maps or SSS? I mean, water doesn't even have caustics...). DX12? Forget it. Raytracing? ahahah
    •  charges $30 for glorified living world episode
    •  "does not have powercreep" ok buddy, I remember when 30k was considered a lot, and we have builds chilling at 45k untouched


    Add to this:

    • hardly any significant gameplay changes in the past 5 years, highlighted by 5 year old builds centered around one 5 year old trait/rune/skill interaction, still dominating the meta in all game modes, that cause reddit drama when that 5 year old interaction accidentally gets affected by unrelated change because people are so used to it
    • no modern qol features being added for years. In-world ping? Emote wheel? Map search? NPC search? Actual tutorial??? In-world navigation? Autonav? Doing literally anything with the disgrace that the achievement panel is??? Hell, they had to make the new daily UI into a WEBSITE that runs in the in-game browser because they can't be bothered with the actual game UI anymore.
    • hamfisted UI changes to just barely fit the neverending pileup of throwaway changes. Tiny hidden mastery skill menu with no keybinds. Mount menu so clunky people had to fix it with an addon. Separate UI key for a dead mount. Special action. Special-special action. Quests as collections. World map shortcuts. The freaking boon bar. The aforementioned daily panel. Catalyst F5 😂

  7. idk man, I just want gw3.

    gw2 feels played out. Adding more seasoning to this stale burger doesn't make it taste good anymore.

    Gimme a new game where everything isn't 100% solved and metagamed to death.

    I jumped ship after SotO and had so much blast in other games that don't have all the fun optimized out of.

    It also gave me a good idea of how old the gw2 engine is compared to things Unreal 5 can do out of the box.  Felt like time travelling to CURRENT_YEAR from 2004, and being blown away by the technology.

    they fired all the UX designers and got new ones to replace them. Then the new ones discovered they can abuse players' learned behavior of paying attention to <KWONK> sound and purple text, in order to con them into "engagement". Or at least that's what they kept telling themselves when shipping that anti-feature.

    This whole expansion is engagement metrics padding, it's so painfully obvious.

  9. OP is 100% correct here. It's a boring trope that makes for a boring, forced gameplay. In fact it's so played out that even TV series avoid it nowadays.

    I actually wasted time on this by trying to beat the guy on my solo build (yep, mirage still laughs at your fake uncleansable immob), only to realize it's a scripted sequence, the boss goes invul and regenerates in a loop, and I should just let the game force me to get stomped in this weird pseudo-interactive cutscene because... plot armor reasons I suppose. 🙄

    Oh by the way, did I already rant about fake non-removeable pseudo-conditions that ignore established game systems just to be used as a cheap gimmick? I guess I did now. They still suck.

    see the new "daily" system is just a mobile game battle pass in disguise, complete with value nerfs and abysmal UI designed for metrics padding
    see the story is still escort fiesta full of boring unskippable dialogue, intertwined with brownish gray corridor trashmob fights that don't matter
    get reminded how dull and boring and "random bs go" combat is in this game
    see it's about another generic bad guy who comes out of nowhere and 1shots the PC in a scripted sequence for, um, tension
    see the map is 90% reused assets with dominant colors being brown and dark grey
    press alt f4
    go back to Palia
