After playing on A/D for while I mostly have the same suggestions that a lot of thieves had during beta. Just leaving the list here so I can go and play with the spear (322 422 222 223 1 LETS GO!). We should be able to reposition the spinning axes. Battles are mobile, spinning axes are not. It would be really cool if axe 2 (venomous volley) would pull stationary axes to within 900 units of your current target. Distance = delayed damage and this contributes to the clunky feel of using axes. Bring the dual back to dual wield skills. Axe/dagger 3 should involve stabbing. Axe/pistol 3 should involve shooting. It's super annoying that the 3 skill is sooooo dependent on the 2 skill. I don't think any other weapon skill is designed this way. We need more differentiation between dagger and pistol. Skill 3 for A/D is a melee attack. Maybe the axes should shadowstep with the thief to attack the target before returning to their original position damaging enemies along the way. By the way... Harrowing storm should be considered a shadowstep for ALL traits. The stupid axe counter is too small. I suggest that Harrowing Storm and Orchestrated Assault become flip over skills. If you use 3 with less than 6 axes it cost 3 ini and doesn't immobilize. If you have 6 axes in the world it would cost 4 ini and does the immobilize thing. You know you have 6 axes because the skill flipped. Make the cone for Venomous Volley smaller. It's very possible that anet made the cone wide so we would have to get closer in to make the best use of all 3 axes. Please just stop playing games and make the range attack.... you know, useful at range.

I came here to say the same thing. Audio cues would be a huge help. At minimum we need them on the finishers and 4 if it is used as a lead attack. The rest is just practice. I think we've all been trained on skills with 1 flip over. Now we have 2 skills with 2 flips so it's going to take time to get used it. Also... if they are looking at icons, they should take a look at the stealth attack. The icon should be perpendicular to the auto. Staff icons do it right.

They forgot to add a leap finisher on the leap attack. Other than that, I'm happy they were paying attention.

As a thief player the only thing left on my wish list is adding a leap finisher on Unsuspecting Strike. As a war alt, I'm happy spear is straight forward. But if I could make 1 change it would be to leave the spears stuck in the ground for a time so they would become a barrier for enemies. It would immediately make spearmarshal's support and the rage attack more interesting. -
You're right shield needs something... I would approach changes like what they did with ele pistol. Stun with Shield Bash and gain Irate for 20 seconds. If you have Irate, Shield Bash consumes Irate and knocks back enemies around your target. Block with Shield Stance and gain Irate for 20 seconds. If you have Irate, Shield Stance consumes Irate and taunts foes around you.

I always thought daredevil needed something else. The best I could come up with is to change steal into a leaping knockdown. But what would a 1200 range leap even look like?

I was thinking through my original suggestion and wanted to flesh it out a little. I would change Strength of Shadows trait to... Strength of Shadows - Gain expertise based on a percentage of your vitality. Torment you inflict deals increased damage. When you successfully combo a field you gain initiative. If the field is dark you also gain stacks of Rot Venom. I'm thinking 3 ini and 3 stacks of Rot Venom for comboing with a dark field plus an appropriate cool down. The big idea is to give non-scepter using specters more power without also making scepter stronger.

I mean, like, I don't disagree but.. you know... this thread is about improving non scepter Specters and your comment is about scepters and Deadeyes. At least toss me a like. Seems like it's not a bad idea cause ya'll would have told me already if it was.

Why is this still here? Anyway, been paying with Axe a lot lately and I'm warming up to it. IMO the most impactful change that could be made is making 3 a flip over. The difference would be at 5 spinning axes or less ini cost would be 3 and at 6spinning axes the cost increases to 4 ini and it immobilizes. This one change would solve a number of most notably serving as a notification when you are full on axes. -

I played around with war spear again today and I changed my mind about it. It's lacking. The cooldowns are far to long for each skill to have so little impact. If the concept is we are throwing these spears so hard they are shattering we need to add knockbacks. Anywhere there is an immobilize or cripple change it to knockback instead and it will start to feel better. Add vulnerability to every skill. Let skill 5 reset 3 like hammer. -

Turns out that even dodging can throw off your ability to land the chain attacks. I wonder if Anet could add time to the attack stage you are on when you dodge. We wouldn't need much maybe a sec/ sec & a half to get back in position. Also, did anyone else notice that the visuals for the flip over a little slow. It seems like the skills are actually available before the icon flips. I thought we couldn't run out of ini but it turns out I just wasn's smashing the skills fast enough. Finally, just wanted to share with anyone who hasn't tried it, the the stealth attack plus Leeching Venoms is awesome. -

I kind of liked warrior spear. I don't think its a primary weapon but its a serviceable swap. Honestly, spend some time on the other classes. It's my second favorite spear behind thief. -
I was playing around with specter builds earlier this week and had this random idea. What if finishing dark fields would apply rot wallow venom to yourself and regen ini? Think about it. Two things that hold non scepter builds back is lack of torment and ini. Condition weapons are d/d a/d and p/d. Dagger/dagger can easily finish wells with death blossom. You can blast 2x quickly with axe sneak attack with 3 as a follow up. Shadowstrike on P/d is a projectile finisher as is repeater to a lesser degree. If they put a leap finisher on spear 3 it could benefit too. The best thing about this is that it wont really benefit scepter so you don't have to worry about balancing for it. They would just need to find a spot for it in the Specter traits.
