  1. Seconded. It's always been annoying, but since SotO launched it now interferes with gameplay. Show it once, then give us an option to "Don't show this again", and make it account wide. Also, please give us the option to turn off tutorials in the starter areas. This is my 420th alt. I know how to move my character, lol.
  2. Except that Legendaries are no more powerful than any other ascended level item. Leggies are a QoL vanity brag item at most, not an edge over anyone else. IMO, the HP thing is not true P2W, but it definitely cracks the door open to it. Whether or not Anet decides to step through it remains to be seen.
  3. Yeah, I'm not fond of this. Yes, you need to have the expansion for whichever map you want the points from, but instead of playing the game to get the points, you just purchase them? It feels, indeed, like a slippery slope to Pay to Win. One of the absolute best things about this game is that the only thing you can really purchase for real legal tender are convenience items and vanity/novelty items. Unlike most other MMOs, I don't *need* to pull out my credit card every month in order to keep up with game progression, only Fashion Wars. Nothing gives me an edge except the amount of time I am able and willing to put into playing this game. If I get busy and can't get in for a few weeks or months; I may need to tweak my build, but I don't need to purchase items from the gem store to catch up. If I *really* need cheap and easy Hero Points, I can go zerg surfing in WvW and purchase them with heroics, but I still need to actually play the game. Yes, this is a generalized scenario that may or may not be based in personal experience with those that may feel like this is a call out to a small portion of the player base, but 😜 My concern, beyond P2W, is that Newbie McMoneybags will purchase the entire GW2 suite, poof their toons to level 80, purchase the HP they need to get whichever specializations they want, and jump into game with ZERO knowledge of how to actually play their class, expecting to be carried through pretty much everything, wondering why they die so much, and generally being a whiny pain in the kitten as they blame everything and everyone else for their own lack of effort. Every game has those types, but GW2 has FAR less than any of the other games I have played, which makes the community aspect here much more enjoyable. This might be a small financial win to Anet, but its at the players' expense. I don't like it.
  4. I don't pay much attention to other people's builds. What does it matter to them what stats you use? Are they butt-hurt because you beat them? Let them think what they want. If your build works for you then who cares what they think?
  5. I'm hoping they bring them in during events, Like the ravens for Mad King, the snowballs for Wintersday , and the parrot for Talk Like a Pirate Day. It would be a god opportunity to introduce new summons as well.
  6. I think that's the only thing that bothers me about them. That and I miss my ravens from the Mad King runes, but Im hoping they'll be available as a relic in October. I like that I'm no longer tied to a particular set because I love the set effect that can now be switched out at will to different runes, or I want the set stats but want a different set effect.
  7. That creature in the pit, the one where you're on the platform? Just keep plugging away in downed state. You aren't meant to defeat him, just survive and escape. I get motion sickness too, so I can't do jumping puzzles, but stuff like the purple swirlies, as others have said, you should be able to turn off effects enough to get through that part, or just look away.
  8. I looked there first, but the last entry was What Lies Within. I restarted the game thinking that maybe that would prompt a summons, and looked again and there it was, right where it was supposed to be. So weird. I'm choosing to blame skritt.
  9. I read in the news article from today's update that there is supposed to be a little scene between the Commander and Aurene to sort of transition between EoD and SotO. How do I trigger this? The only thing I've got in game mail is from Gorrik about the fractals.
  10. Not colorblind, myself, but I'm all for boosting comment count to get this noticed. I am a little surprised that this issue hasn't been resolved already. I didn't even know how prevalent colorblindness was until I started playing this game at launch. That's when I first started seeing requests for more colorblind accessibility. 10 years. It's been 10 years and nothing at all to help with this? So, yeah; boost. I hope Anet will at least speak on this and try to come up with something. Also: https://accessibilityspark.com I recently visited an online shop that was using this. Won't help with the game, but perhaps it would be helpful for the website here. There were a ton of accessibility options that would be nice to see in more places, including here.
  11. I finally got it! As it turns out; I was waiting in the wrong place. I was waiting where the NPC spawns for the pre event, should the temple defense FAIL. I waited about 30 minutes at the temple itself and the defense event started like it should.
  12. Went there before posting here. No map ever seems to progress though. Seems to get stuck at Wren, rinse and repeat. Spending hours upon hours repeating events that never culminate in anything going vulnerable, on a map that I hate, is not any fun. I would just like to be able to progress to get my Zaitan weapon skin 😞 Those pre events never start. Not a single one have I seen in the past few weeks. It's stuck on "A Path to Arah"
  13. Does the Defense event, or any other related event for Cathedral of Zephyrs ever actually happen? I've been checking every day, several times a day, for at least a week now and I've seen exactly ONE Meta event happen in Malchor's Leap, and I ended up having to leave in the middle of it. It's quite frustrating that this meta is not on a timer.
  14. Most LW seasons have new episodes every Tuesday. Will we be getting the next episode anytime soon?
  15. Yes. Plus, all the basic amenities are on the same floor. It's a circular platform with all the stations in easy view and the fountain in the middle. The Mystic Fountain begs to be jumped into. Its a fun addition.
  16. Kitten GENIUS! Well done, Anet. Bravo! There are so many details and features, and so much beauty, personality, and FUN! I hope you'll add 2 week passes for folks to try it out. You can really tell this was a labor of love.
  17. Bolded italic part; that, right there. I only meant it to be a fun, fluffy thing that added a little bit of utility, with focus on the novelty set bonus. Not everyone take this game as a serious hobby, and at some point, even the most serious of us wants a little down time to just chill on or own or with friends, in game (hence, the popularity of in game fishing). I have a habit...ok, fine. My name is Kitty La Boom Boom and I am an altaholic. I have a lot of fun making new characters. My latest is an engineer that was created specifically to be a Mechanist. She is an Asura of the smallest stature possible. I have her outfitted to look like she's a fancy pirate. Her name is Tink Arrr Belle (she gave Pan the boot, led a mutiny, and fed Hook to the Broodmother) and her mech's name is Smee. She's slotting the Superior Rune of the Privateer set (has you shout "Yarr!" on entering combat and summons a parrot). I will be ecstatic if they ever come out with a pirate ship skiff skin. Not every last byte of this game needs to be focused on organized battle.
  18. I did mean it for "Depth Charge". Those Leviathan events are fun' but You could also use it for added punch to knock off pesky foes that may be trying to interrupt your fishing experience. Mostly just a fun thing to have, and an excuse to summon seagulls.
  19. I would. RN tho, I'd just pop them into a set of exotics and stick them in an equipment template.
  20. A lot of the fish require specific bait. I'd really like a tackle box that would ONLY accept fishing related items. The fishing sub-tab is in the Equipment tab, directly beneath the Mount sub-tab. It currently shows your lure, bait, and fishing rod. You ca use it to change up your bait and lures, and change the appearance of your fishing rod.
  21. I'll do that. I reported it via the in game bug report when I didn't know what was happening, but having more specific information is always good.
  22. Sooo, I was getting really frustrated with fishing from my skiff because every time I would drop anchor I ended up in combat status. Sometimes the problem was obvious and I could just hop out and kill something. Most of the time though, there was nothing in sight that was attacking. I tried waiting it out. Still in combat, unable to mount, unable to WP, and no aggro mobs in sight. If I left the area, my status would eventually disengage, but then I drop anchor again and be right back in combat. I had to log to character screen, log back in, summon the skiff, and drop anchor again. That sometimes worked. I noticed that ambient critters got smushed when I dropped anchor, so I started being really careful about nothing being near the boat. That helped a little, but was impractical because a lot of times I couldn't get close enough to the node to fish because of ambient and low-aggro critters. I even sent in a ticket because it was getting so frustrating. Cue lightbulb moment; I had turned my game volume up, and when I dropped anchor I heard crows. Superior Rune of the Mad King 6th set bonus: "(6): +20% https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/3/33/Bleeding.png/20px-Bleeding.png Bleeding duration; summon ravens to attack nearby enemies after using an elite skill. " Drop anchor is in the Elite skill slot. /facepalm On a tangentally related note; who else would love a set of runes dedicated to fishing/skiff skills? 1) +10% Damage while on or aboard a Skiff 2) +25 Fishing Power 3) +15% Damage while on or aboard a Skiff 4)+50 Fishing Power 5) +10% Condition Duration while on or aboard a Skiff 6) +100 Fishing Power; summon seagulls to dive-bomb and daze (duration 2 seconds) your target and adjacent enemies while on or aboard a skiff
  23. Not so much obvs. I made this thread because I was getting kind of annoyed with all of he negative and/or overly technical (I'm not a game designer, nor do I play one on TV) posts about the specs and kittening about skills. I was hoping to stir up some fun chatter about what we love about the class. Me? I love a class that lets me play in a style that is fun for me, whatever style that happens to be at any given moment. Usually that involves face-tanking, but Harbinger isn't really built for that. It's more like blood-sac from GW1, which is kind of a rush, ngl.
